Sunday

After church today, we went to Gators for lunch.  The water was so cal and calming!  While we were there, we saw at least 100 boats either going out to the Gulf or coming in! Boats and jet skis, but no dolphins!

I finished a book this afternoon and went for a long walk.

Saturday

We (mostly I) stayed up last night to watch my Cyclones get beat in the Alamo Bowl 26-28.  Bummer.  We didn't play very well in the first half - lots of penalties, which is pretty much opposite of what this team was all about.  We hardly had any penalties in the regular season.  These officials didn't seem to want either team to get up any steam.  You'd just get to moving the ball and down would go a flag.  Oh well, the sun came out today!  Good season, Cyclones!

After that game, I couldn't sleep so I read until about 2:30.  Then I slept until 9:30 this morning.  We didn't have anything we had to do today anyway.  Barb & Gary got in this afternoon and I did a video call with my family at their Christmas gathering.

Tonight we did a video call with Bryan and his family.

Friday

Beautiful day here!  It was so pretty that after my treatment, we came home and fixed us a picnic lunch.  We took it to the Courtney Campbell Causeway park to enjoy the water!  It was nice getting out near the water and not spending a fortune!  It cost us 50 cents to park and that's all!  We needed that!

Speaking of my treatments, I've now finished 1/7 of them!

Thursday

Life is good!  Our manager, who has been AWFUL, is no longer employed by ELS!!  Yes!  We've been working for this for over a year!  The board members are doing our happy dances!  We'll have an interim manager until they can hire someone.  Hopefully our Regional Manager will have a say in who they hire.  She's good and expects good employees.

Day 2 of radiation...this time, I was in the room for 10 minutes only.  Hope it goes that fast every day.  I spend my time on the table praying for others with cancer.  I have many to pray for.

1 Down!

I had my first radiation treatment today.  It was quick and painless.  I was pretty hyper before it happened, though.  Dave timed it and said from the time I left until the time I got back was 14 minutes.  The guy who went before me was 14 minutes, too.  I'll get 3 treatments in this week and 4 next.

We also went to Bed Bath & Beyond and to GNC for some aloe gel.  I didn't want to be a slug and just sit around.  I also walked the block today!

Merry Christmas

Dave and I both slept in this morning.  We didn't really have anything to get around for until later in the afternoon.  We ate a late breakfast and then no lunch.  I took a long walk after breakfast - it was just beautiful outside today!  We only had corn to fix for the Christmas dinner and that didn't take too long.  By the time Sudi and Howard got here, we had the corn ready to take to the hall.

Dinner was just so-so in my opinion.  The company was great, but they ran out of prime rib and the ham was way too salty.  The potatoes weren't salty enough, but the corn and the cole slaw and the broccoli/cauliflower mix were good.  We've had far better meals in my opinion.

After Sudi & Howard left, Bob called and we chatted for quite a while.  Dave did his exercises and now I'm ready for bed.

Christmas Eve

What a beautiful day we had here.  It must have been near 70 with plentiful sunshine!  Bobbi, Alan, Lorraine, Marilyn, Lori, Dave and I sorted Christmas cards for the park and then delivered them to everyone!  This year it was about a 2-hour job and then we were finished!  When we got home, we made a meatloaf for tonight and stuck it in the fridge to bake later.  Then lunch, then a short nap!

We heard from Kaylee - she had a baby boy last night in the Netherlands.  He's a cutie!  His name is McCoy.  Mother and baby are doing fine.  When she called us, she was nursing him.  Then she sent us some pictures and he's just darling!

This evening, we had our Christmas Eve party, complete with a Yankee swap.  I got two really cool mugs and Dave got a mug with hot chocolate in it.  We went to the contemporary service at church - very moving!

Sunday

We had a whirlwind of a weekend!  Jami and the kids came over on Friday evening.  I fixed tenderloins and the potatoes they like and had them ready the minute they pulled into the driveway.  When we'd eaten our fill, they unloaded the car and we played our first game of Farkle.  Megan couldn't miss and won the Friday version.

Saturday, we fixed bacon and eggs for breakfast and then Jami & Danny, Dave and I went for a walk around Sawgrass Lake Park.  We saw a HUGE alligator sunning on the opposite bank.  Saw a small alligator and a few birds, but other than that it was too cold and windy to see many critters.  Still a good walk, though.  We had our second round of Farkle while Dave went to the grocery store.  I won that one.  For lunch we just ate leftovers and for supper, Dave fixed hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill.  Saturday evening we had our 3rd round of Farkle and I won it, too.  Miracles will never cease - I never win Farkle!

This morning we got up early.  Everyone showered and we took off for Sarasota to spend some time with Roberta before Jami and the kids had to head home.  They had the heaters going up at the pool, so we were able to eat lunch up there without freezing.

Now the sheets and towels are washed and the house is put back together and we're about ready for bed!  Fun weekend but a rushed one!

Thursday

I finished the January newsletter for The Ranch and Dave and I together cleaned house.  Quite a productive, rainy day!  We had over 6.5" of rain since late yesterday afternoon.  It sure wasn't a day that you wanted to be out in...hence, the house-cleaning!

Jami and the kids are coming tomorrow afternoon.  I can't wait to see them.  I just hope the weather cooperates so we can be out and  about!

Wednesday

After coffee this morning, we held our annual cookie walk.  We had TONS of cookies which we sold for $3.00 per pound.  I think we sold $119 worth of cookies and still have a bunch left which went into the freezer to be brought out for Christmas eve, Christmas, etc.

Then around 11:00 the Board met with the Regional Manager and our community manager for our monthly meeting.  We didn't get a lot accomplished, but we did get some questions answered.

I didn't get to sleep until after 4:00 this morning, so I took a nap this afternoon.  It rained again this afternoon so it made for good napping.  I walked up for cards this evening - in the rain.  There were 8 of us who braved the rain!  Fun evening.

B&B

I bowled today!  I thought I'd only bowl one game, but at the end of the game I felt pretty good so on I went.  I ended up bowling all 3 games and now I'm stiff and sore!  My back and hip are where I feel it most, but my bicep on my throwing arm is sore too!  It's hell being out of shape!  My scores weren't what I wanted, but I didn't do too bad.  The monkey bread was a huge hit!!

After lunch I rested for a bit, then I made 4 dozen cookies for tomorrow's cookie walk.  Then this evening I went to bingo.  Since we only had 5 players, we cancelled bingo for tonight.  We'll resume after the new year when everyone is back!

Monday

This was a stay at home and in the kitchen day.  I put all the ingredients for peanut clusters in the crockpot.  When they were done, Dave helped me dip them out onto parchment paper - all 104 of them!  We also worked together  to get a monkey bread ready for the oven in the morning.  We have our little Christmas gathering at bowling tomorrow.  Ann used to make monkey bread for the group.   Since she's not here, I make it it instead.  Yum!!

Whew!!

This was one busy day!  We went to our normal church service this morning and then we stayed for the next service, too.  We go to a contemporary service, but the 11:10 service was a Christmas Cantata and it was wonderful!  We loved it and so did the packed in congregation!  After church we stopped at the orange place on Walsingham to have an ice cream cone made with fresh orange juice.  That ice cream is fabulous!

We got home in time to eat a small lunch, then I was off to watch the play, "A Doublewide, Texas  Christmas" with 5 other ladies from the park.  It was a fun afternoon.  Dave needed a nap when I got home, so I took one too.  Then we dressed in warm clothes and went to the Florida Botanical Gardens to see the Christmas lights.  Beautiful!  I highly recommend it!

Saturday

More rain!  We had 4.1" from after dark last night until this morning.  It sprinkled a little on us as we went to breakfast at the clubhouse.  This was our annual breakfast buffet and it was delicious!  Since Bob is already gone back to Iowa and Rich is in the hospital, the guys were a bit short-handed.  But several people stepped up and got it done!  Unfortunately, only about 34 people signed up.  It's a lot of work for no more than come.  The Iowa contingent - Dave, Ron, Marcia, and I - did almost all of the cleanup.  It'd be nice if some of those who sit and watch us clean up would actually get up to help.

Later I was able to get my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed.  I really needed both done!

Friday

We started the day off early again.  I had an appointment at the oncology radiologist's first thing.  When I arrived, I was taken in to get my "tattoos" and to have a cat scan.  From what I understand, the reason for the scan was to "measure" my breast for the upcoming radiation.  Lots of pictures were taken and I got 4 tattoos so they'll be able to position me properly.  After all of this, we were taken on a tour to see the radiation machine and see how it works.  I will start radiation on the 26th of December.

I'm making great headway on the Christmas cards.  We give out about 75 cards here in the park - glad we don't have to buy postage for all of them!  We also send out about 60 cards to friends who we don't see frequently - those are the ones I make.  I've got those pretty much done - just waiting to hear back from a couple of friends who have moved.  I'll be glad to get the mess off my kitchen table!  Unfortunately I'm about 6 cards/envelopes short, so I have to get some more cards...then I can finish.

This morning we had about 30 people at our HOA meeting following coffee.  That's a pretty good turnout now.  It was cold this morning, but the day turned into a very nice one.  I guess it's going to be a little chillier than normal this winter.  That'll make up for the 3 days of winter last year or the year before!

This afternoon, Dave helped me and we got our Christmas cards out - most of them anyway.  There are a few more we need to do.

Bingo wasn't very  successful tonight.  I did bingo twice, but we only had 10 people, so I only won $7.  I spend $11, therefore I lost $4!

As for bowling, we didn't go.  I met with the oncologist and oncology radiologist this morning.  I will start radiation after Christmas and will have 21 sessions.  Then I'll be on a estrogen inhibitor daily for 5 years.  Good news.  I was afraid I'd have 30+ sessions.  I go back on Friday for a Cat scan and some measurements.

I'm going to have to get my flannel jammies out!  It's sure chilly tonight.  I have worn jeans far more this winter than I have in the last 4 winters combined!  I have an oncology apptmt at 8:00 in the morning, so I'll have to find something warm to wear!!

The Red Hatters went to Cheddars today - there were 13 of us who braved the chilly temps!  Good food and good conversation!!

I just read a cool statistic.  So far in 2018 I've read 90 books.  Those encompassed 30,045 pages.  The longest book I read was 1593 pages and the shortest book I read was 127 pages.  Fun reading!!  Thank you, Good Reads!

It was a damp one around here today.  Bob's rain gauge showed  3.5" of rain just today.  It poured when we were in church.  We really needed the rain, though.  Church was great again.  After church we went to Lowes to return some things and then went to Peters for breakfast - yum!

Dave took a nap and I got a walk in between raindrops.

We had good food and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful lunch!

This afternoon, Dave took a long nap and I worked on financial stuff until he got up.

I finally got my lifetime membership with WW figured out and activated.  I also worked on financial stuff, plus I went out twice - once to get lunch for the guys and once to get groceries.  If it's going to be cold down here, I want  some chili!!

Interesting Day

Dave worked on the lawn crew this morning - I just hung out!  After Dave got home, I told him I was smelling burning coffee, but the coffee pot was off and the pot was empty.  Oh well. Around 2:15, I decided to take a short nap.  I set my phone alarm for 3:30 because I had a 4:00 meeting.  About 3:35 Dave came rushing around the house saying he was smelling hot or burning wiring, but he couldn't find anything.  I went outside and the smell was really strong in the lanai.  I didn't smell it in the house or outside.  I called 9-1-1 and got the fire truck here.  They found it right away.  It was the hot water heater.  It was a good thing we were here and smelled it - we could have been homeless tonight had we been gone!  Guess what's going on around here tomorrow?  We'll be getting a new water heater and the guys are going to install it.  I think I'll go shopping or something!

This afternoon Bob & Dave painted the trim around their windows.  I finally have an appointment with an oncologist - Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM!!  After that I should have a schedule!!

Tonight at bingo I won 5 games!!  Don't get too excited - there were only 7 of us playing so the pots were very small!  I only won $15 and I spent $11!

Dave, Bob, and I went to Lowes today.  We each had things to look for.  I am thinking about a backsplash for the kitchen.  I wanted to see what they had in the way of vinyl flooring that we could put on the walls for backsplash.  I brought home 3 samples and none of them looked good.  At least we're not out any money because we can take them back and get our money back.  Now what shall I try?

It was a humid day here today and we got a couple of rain showers this evening.   I did manage to get a walk in, though!

Good service again today.  Pastor Jeremy preached.  He talks so fast that I have a hard time keeping up with him.  I'm always worrying about our older friends at church and wonder if they can follow him.

After church I took a nap while Dave worked at a neighbor's house.  She's 91 and wanted a tv antenna so she didn't have to have a box.

Another big day!

This was another Wednesday where we hosted coffee.  I was a little slow getting there, but I made it.  Then a bit later, I went to WW to weigh in.  This was my last week on maintenance if I made weight.  I DID!  I'm now a lifetime member as long as I stay below my goal weight and I don't have to pay for the WW app!  I haven't read the literature yet, but that's basically what they said to me today.

Dave put the turkey in the oven this morning and when we got back from WW, it was done.  We bought a 12" pecan pie from Sam's Club so we have finished our portions of tomorrow's dinner.  Tonight I even played cards.  No naps or nothing!!

Tomorrow we watch the Macy's parade.  Megan (our middle granddaughter) is performing/marching in it.  Their dance group is right before Santa in the parade.  I know we won't get to see her exactly, but we're going to try!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Busy Day

Whew!  This was a busy day!  First of all it was a bowling day.  Dave bowled very well today.  In fact, he was the high men's bowler, both individual game and series!  He also won poker AND cribbage one game!  I didn't bowl, of course, but I went for moral support!  After bowling, we went to Ambrosia Family Restaurant on Starkey right near the bowling alley.  Most of us had breakfast meals.  Dave had a hamburger & fries.

After our meal, we were home for a bit.  Then this evening we had a town hall meeting with ELS in charge.  Ninety people signed up for the free meal and discussion with the ELS reps.  I thought it was a good meeting.  Dave got tired of the conflict so he went home,  I stayed and helped with clean up.  Now I'm pretty tired, but I'll be able to take a nap tomorrow.

I don't know if I told you, but I've been reading the Iliad by Homer for some time now.  I finished it last night! It's an epic poem about the Trojan War between Troy and Greece.  Full of lots of blood and gore and javelins and beheading.  Not exactly "fun" reading, but I've been throwing a "classic" into my reading lists every once in a while.  I like to read different genres!  I know, I'm a little  strange!

Feeling better

Yesterday was a really long  day!  I got to  the hospital at 8 AM.  By 10:15 or so I had been prepped for surgery...I had radioactive stuff put into my right breast and pictures taken and lymph node location marked.  Then I was taken to the Florida Breast Institute to have a wire inserted into my breast so the surgeon could follow it to the cancer.  Then I waited...and waited...and waited! Finally about 2:00 I went to the OR.  Surgery took an hour and then recovery for about 2 hours.  Then home about 7:00 PM.  I didn't need pain pills...2 tylenol did the trick.  I was even able to sleep in bed...just not on my side like I usually do.

Today I've felt better.  After my shower, I even sat outside with Bob for a while today.  I took 2 more tylenol this morning and now I've taken 2.  The worst symptom I'm having is a sore throat from the breathing tube.  Both incisions are wicked looking and sore but not painful!  I've kept ice on them all day and I can do that as long as I want.

I met with the surgeon today about the results of the MRI.  There was no other cancer present - yay!!  However, there's some new procedure called a something nodal biopsy that is now SOP for DCIS - my kind of cancer.  The AMA is recommending that surgeons do this if two criteria exist in the DCIS.  I have both criteria.  It will be performed prior to my surgery next Thursday.  It consists of actually removing two lymph nodes.  If my DCIS were going to spread, it would spread to these 2 nodes...that's why they'll take them out and biopsy them.  Now I'll have two incisions instead of just one.

Thursday

I missed blogging last night.  By the time I got home from the Halloween party, I just wanted to go to bed!  I was very tired and my back hurt!  I had helped clean up and put things away.  I love how some people just sit and watch us working!  Grrr...

Dave and I dressed up as s'mores!  It was fun and Dave didn't even mind being a graham cracker!

Fun evening!

Today, Dave did his thing with the church lawn crew this morning.  I just took my time getting going this morning - yay!  This afternoon we went to Largo Nature Preserve to see what we could see.  We had a bonus day.  Several birds were on the railing and most of them just hung out when we walked by them!  We were able to get some good pictures!

MRI Day

I took 2 .25mg tranquilizers before I went  to have my MRI today.  They helped, but I should have taken at least one more!  But, by the time the MRI was done, I was pretty relaxed..  It's really good to get that over with!  Now, I talk to the surgeon again on Friday - this time about the MRI results.  Then nothing for 6 days when I have the surgery.  Pray that the MRI showed nothing else!

After my MRI, we went to The Pub for lunch.  The hospital was so cold that we needed to sit in the sun just to warm up!

Sunday

Great sermon today.  In light of the three hate crimes this week, Pastor Jack preached about loving your neighbor as yourself and about people who are bullies have an absence of love.  He asked us to Google a video called "The Making of a Bully From Scratch".  Very interesting video - chilling.  You can see so many of the shooters in this short video.  They feel an absence of love, definitely.

When we got home from church, Bob & Ann pulled in shortly after. We helped them unload their car and then we went to Peter's for breakfast.  This evening we all sat out visiting until we had to come in to Skype with Bryan's family.

Game Day!  Before the game, Dave and I went to Lowe's for a light fixture for the master bath.  It is really bright in there now!  We even took time to eat at Village Inn!  We won a gift card from there, so we were able to spend it!

Then it was game time.  Dave got the ISU-Texas Tech game on the little box, so I sat out in the lanai and watched it.  I'm sure people thought I was weird - I was yelling!!  Good win, Cyclones!  I even did my manicure out there while I was watching the game.

Sawgrass

We went to Sawgrass for the first time this season.  We saw 1 alligator, an ibis and an anhinga.  That was all!  It was windy, so that may have been why we didn't see many animals.  It was still a great walk, regardless!

That was about all we did today.  Bob & Ann are on their way!

Another day, another doctor's appointment!  Today I had an appointment with my primary doctor here.  As soon as she looks at my blood workup she'll be able to tell me if I'm cleared for surgery.  I'm a little concerned that my blood workup got lost, though.  She should have it by now.

We had repairmen here and at Bob's today and the carpet cleaners at Sue & Penny's.  Plus it was WW day.  I lost the 2 pounds I added last week!!

Interesting Day

Someone tried to steal one of the bingo tvs.  Anyway that's the way it appears to us.  We met with KC to see what we could do about it.  Of course, she had no suggestions except to tell the residents to stop vandalizing our park!  Like that's going to work!

After coffee, we came home and while Dave was outside, he accidentally bumped our electrical pole and shorted out out electrical box.  That cost $500+ - at least the electrician came within 2 hours!

More Appointments

Now I have a date with an MRI machine - yuck!  On Oct 30th, I will have my MRI and then on Nov. 2nd I'll discuss the results with the surgeon.  In the meantime, I worry about the MRI.  This is the thing I've been dreading most about this latest development in my life journey.  Today they told me I would have contrast dye also.  The last time I had contrast dye, I broke out in hives big time!  They assured me this would not be the same kind of dye.  Great.  Something else to worry about!  Might have to take two tranquilizers to get thru this test!!

Dave and I voted today.  Didn't really have to wait.

Dr's day

I had my appointment with the surgeon today.  I really liked her!  She's very personable and seems very knowledgeable.  I think I'll be in good hands.  I will have my surgery on November 8th, heal for a couple of weeks and then start radiation for 3-6 weeks.  I was also able to get several things done today for pre-op.  I had blood and urine work done today, along with an EKG and a chest xray.  Thursday I have a pre-op appointment with my primary doctor down here.  After I have an MRI, then I'll be ready for surgery.

When we finally got out of the clinic, Dave and I went to Columbia Restaurant for lunch.  It was lovely by the water...a little windy, but cooler and less humidity.

Saturday and Sunday

Yesterday was a hot one here, but we had errands to run anyway.  By the time we got back, I was drenched!

Today we went to church...great sermon!  After church we went down to the beach to see the chalk art.  There were hundreds of people, but it was a gorgeous day today so it didn't matter!  I had Bealls Bucks to use, so we stopped and got me a pair of capris, a skort, and a top!  When we got home, Dave took a nap - I read.  Then I went for my first bike ride of the season.  Did I tell you that it was gorgeous here today?  Oh, that's right, I did!

Beautiful day at the Legion!  Yes, it was hot, but we sat in the shade of an umbrella!  There was also a nice breeze  that helped.  We met Sudi and Howard there and it's always good to  see them after being gone all summer.

We also went shopping today.  I got 10 tops and 4 pair of shorts for $200!  Pretty good day, I'd say!

Thursday

This was my WW day.  Now that I'm on maintenance, I've been given 5 extra points per day.  The object is to be able to add some food so that I don't continue to lose weight and not so much food that I gain weight.  I am also given a range - 2 pounds under goal to 2 pounds over goal.  For the next 6 weeks I have to stay in that 4 pound range.  I gained weight this week, but I'm still in my range.  Now, I'll adjust my points again.  Since I was at 28, I'll go back down to 23-24 for this week and lose what I gained.  It's a constant process.  I liked losing better than maintaining!

Good to be here!

It's really good to be back.  I love getting to wear shorts again!  Everyone down here survived the summer and seem to be excited to get the fall season going.  The hall looks really good with the new paint and  the Halloween/Fall decorations.  Bingo went well last night.  The new machine and screens need a little getting used to, but it didn't take long until we were all enjoying it.  I even doubled my money last night!

Playing cards tonight, I wasn't quite so lucky.  Pat and I played Sandy & Marilyn and while we had a lot of fun, Sandy hasn't lost her touch!  She is the luckiest person!

Dave and I almost have everything put away and cleaned.  We've just got a few things on our to-do list this year!

I had tears when we said goodbye to him.  He told me he'd call me, though!!

I made it!

Yes, I finally lost 50 pounds...50.6 to be exact!  Plus, I made it to my doctor's ideal weight for me today - my goal!  I lost 2 pounds this week!  Now I need to stay within a 4 pound area (2 over or 2 under) for the next 6 weeks.  This is called maintenance.  They added 5 points to my daily total so that I stop losing.  Hope it works!

Tonight we played Family Feud downstairs again.  Someone had to end up last...yes, it was me!  I'm not very good at that game, but it was still fun!

Rain, rain, rain

I am getting just a bit tired of rain!  Today was no different - it rained off and on all day and is still raining.  I just got back from my PEO meeting in Cedar Falls.  I'd never been there before and driving wasn't very fun with the rain and the dark, wet roads!  But I made it safe and sound!  That's my last PEO meeting until we get back in May.

It is 76 in our condo tonight, so I just turned on the air conditioner.  Thursday, however, it is supposed to be a high of 47!

Sad

I'm very sad today.  One of my boys is devastated today.  His son (25) had gone to Austin City Limits in Texas.  On Saturday morning, he told his friends he was going down to the dock.  (They were staying in an apartment that was lakeside.)  He was inebriated.  It was between 5:30 and 6:00 AM.  He hasn't been seen since.  Now they have found a body of a male in his 20's in the lake.  Rick and his wife and other son, Matt, are in our prayers big time.  No parents should have to go through this.

Today's sermon was about Jesus scolding his disciples for turning away the children from coming to him and how we should become as a child, for theirs is the kingdom of God.  It was also World Communion Sunday, so millions of Christians around the world were having communion this day.  Pretty awesome!  We said goodbye to our fellow parishioners and the pastors - always sad!

This evening we went to Bryan's for dinner.  It was cold and drizzling all day and tonight too.  It was hard driving home because of the dark and the rain and the fog.  I watched DWTS Juniors tonight.  Wow, those kids can dance!

Saturday

This was a good day!  My niece, Linda, came to Waterloo to pick me up for the day.  We went to Cedar Falls because she had some shopping to do.  We hit Target, Old Navy, Ulta, and Carter's Baby store!  What a fun time.  Oh yeah, we also ate lunch at Zsavooz Bar & Grill.  We tried to get the ZZ Leiden basketball game, but it wouldn't come in on their internet.  In case you didn't know, that's the team that Clayton (Kaylee's hubby) plays for in the Netherlands.  They got beat by 5 points, darn it!

We got home in time to watch the ISU-Oklahoma State game.  It was a fun game with a true freshman starting QB who did an absolutely wonderful job of leading the Cyclones past a ranked OSU team!

Today was a fall-type day!  It was 36 here this morning...got up into the 50's.  The sun was out and the leaves are starting to be really pretty!  I even had the patio doors open about 2", letting in fresh air!  Don't mind these kind of days!

Dave worked at Bryan's this afternoon.  We had lots of wind all day yesterday, so Bryan's  lawn was littered with branches.  It was a good day for Dave to pick up sticks!  Plus he got to see baby Kaitlyn,  too.  I worked on this and that!  Reconciled the checking accounts, etc.

Now I'm sitting here with my flannel nightgown and my fuzzy socks on!

Wednesday

I didn't get the result that I hoped to get when I met with the radiologist this afternoon.  I have a ductal carcinoma in-situ in my breast - 4 mm in size and it's still in the duct which is very good.  As soon as I get to Florida, I will be having an confirmation MRI followed by a lumpectomy and most likely radiation.  I am anxious to get it done before it becomes something major.  I've shed my tears of fear and talked to God.  He is in charge and with His blessings, I'll be just fine.

This is Bryan's birthday, so tonight we met him and his family at Carlos O'kelly's for dinner.  It was a fun evening!  I even got to hold the baby!

Interesting Day

The other day I had a mammogram.  They found an area of new calcification so asked me to come in for a follow up.  So today was that day.  I went in assuming I'd have another mammogram and I did.  I also met with the radiologist who told me she'd like to do a biopsy.  We did that today, too.  It was a stereotactic biopsy instead of a needle biopsy. I'm pretty sore, but I'm just glad that's over!  Now I go back tomorrow afternoon to hear the results.  Please say a prayer for me.

Thursday

What a day!  This morning, we got up early and went to the Clinic to have our blood drawn.  Then we came home and after having breakfast, I went back to the Clinic for a mammogram and a dexascan.  I have been poked, squished, and scanned!!  Dave went to Bryan's to work for a few hours.

The rest of the day I spent watching "the hearing".  What a fiasco...party lines have been drawn and absolutely nothing will be done for that poor lady.  Women's rights just got pushed back 20 years!  The Right is going  to put Kavanaugh into the Supreme Court because he's "their" nominee...not because he's fit for the job.  The anger at the Left that he showed wasn't very judicial, in my opinion.  Plus, I've known guys like him.  He's an abuser and someday he'll get his due!  I just feel really sorry for a woman who at 15 was attacked sexually and had the nerve to tell her story to the world - all to have it swept under the carpet by a bunch of gold old boys.  Rant over!!

Woohoo!

We went to the doctor today.  She told me what I should weigh...and after weighing in this afternoon, I am only 1.2 pounds from what she said.  She bases her recommendation on BMI instead of weight.  When I lose that 1.2 pounds, I'll be at 50 pounds lost.  Then I have to maintain that for 6 weeks before I can go lifetime, which means I don't have to pay any more!!  That was good news!

Tonight we had game night downstairs.  We played a bit of Family Feud that was really fun.  Dave and I were partners and we didn't do so well, but it was still fun!

Home Again

Thank God we made it home in one piece.  Just on the edge of Madison, we heard a pop and it was a tire on the camper which blew.  We were in pretty heavy traffic - 3 lanes - going 70!  Dave got it to the side of the road and went back to inspect it.  I called 9-1-1 because I was afraid we were going to get hit.  We were just over a little knoll, so the cars couldn't see us until they were right on us.  I really nice young officer came up behind us with his lights on, so traffic moved over.  It was a very scary situation.  Then the rest of the way home, we held our breath that another tire didn't go - we only have 1 spare tire!

Door County is all they say it is.  It is gorgeous!  I'm glad we went!

Today we all went on a ferry off the north end of door county - over to Washington Island.  While we were there, we rode a tram around the island.  We ate at Nelson's Café where we all joined the Bitters Club by drinking a shot of bitters.  Talk about bitter!!!  I think the consensus was that it was gross, but we did it!  Good food, though!

The boat ride was wonderful, as was the day.  We got on the 10:00 boat and came home on the 2:30 boat.  Our bartender, Christian, did a fantastic job.  He got all of our drink orders, our lunch orders, our bitters orders, and got us out of there in a very short time.  We were impressed!  All of that with about 3 minutes advance notice that a group of 20 was coming to the bar.

Hi from Baileys Harbor

We left the 'loo at 9:15 and pulled into our campground around 6:00.  The office was closed and we didn't know what site we were supposed to have.  Finally after several tries we got in touch with the manager and he told us to just go to a pull through site and park...we'd worry about it tomorrow.  So we did!  Our next door neighbors are Hawk fans - grrrr.  After we got set up, which takes close to an hour, we took off to see the Girls of 66.  They are on a dark narrow road...can we say "boonies"!!  Fun times, though.

When we were driving up here, we stopped about 2:15 to see Pastor David & Liz!  We stayed longer than we had planned, but we were enjoying our conversation so we just kept on talking!  We could have been here by 4:00 if we hadn't stopped!  It's a pretty drive.  I'll be anxious to see where the "girls" are staying in the daytime!

Every Sunday we sing, "Praise God from whom all blessings flow."  Today my family is praising God because Oaklyn is well enough to be home!  She and her sister, Rowyn, were playing and enjoying each other!  Rowyn was so excited that she was squealing and waving her hands around - Oaklyn just watched her and smiled!  Rowyn kept grabbing at O's feeding tube - I think she'll need watching closely - she's quick!

Friday

Busy day for Dave and me.  Dave mowed at Bryan's and I had two meetings.  The first one was downstairs where our committee met with a decorator who gave us ideas on updating our lobby.  I thought her ideas were ok, but not fantastic.  I felt like she'd just thrown a design together at the last minute.  We're not going to use her any way...we're going to use her design, but we can find the furniture, flooring, etc. at a far better price elsewhere.

My second meeting was at First Methodist Church, but no one was there.  I must have misunderstood when my PEO group was going to practice initiation for our meeting next week.  After I came home, I realized that I wouldn't be at the meeting next week anyway.  I messed that up!

Thursday

This was a day of sad news...I sure hope it's over!  My high school friend lost her husband yesterday from a massive stroke.  They got married right after graduation in 1966.  It's sad to think that our husbands are passing at this age.  Some others passed way too early!

I found out that another HS friend was moving from Iowa back to Minneapolis and she'll spend her winters in Arizona where her daughter is.  I'm happy for her!  She lost her husband several years ago now.

I heard fun news, though.  Since Oaklyn will still be in the hospital on Saturday, her mommy has her Cyclone outfit ready for her to wear.  You see, she's at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and Iowa State plays there on Saturday.  She and her mommy and daddy will be cheering for the Cyclones...as will we!!

Weds.

We had a handyman come this morning at 8:00 so we're both sitting here watching the Cubs and yawning.  The handyman re-grouted the tile in our master shower.  We've not been able to use that shower for about 10 days.  I'll be glad to get back in there probably tomorrow.  Dave wants it to set for 24 hours.

I went to WW this afternoon.  I lost another .6 of a pound...total 46.8 pounds down!  I was worried about this week after having been in Ottumwa and having a canteen and a tenderloin and a shake!!  Whew!!

Good news.  Oaklyn is supposed to be discharged on Sunday if everything stays the way it is now.  She's cutting teeth - 4 of them!  Her reflux is better...they've changed her formula.  She's eating some baby food, but most of her food comes from her GI tube.  I'm wondering who's going to watch her now  that Kaylee is in Holland.  Hmmm...

Tuesday

I don't have much to say tonight.  Actually I've got  lots to say, but I won't say it.  I tend to get angry and then hold onto my anger for a while.  It has nothing to do with Dave or any of you reading this.  Just know that someday I might tell you, but for now I'll just hold onto my grudge!!

We sat out on the balcony this evening.  We had 5 hummingbirds zipping around us the whole time we were out there.  One little male was being a bully!

Happy Labor(less) Day!

I've always called today Labor(less) Day because when we were working, we didn't work on Labor Day - thus it was Laborless Day!  It rained much of the day here.  We are saturated and flooding.  Several tornados around east-central Iowa this afternoon.  We missed most of that, but it's lightning out now so who knows.  I'm already in my jammies, so I hope we don't have to go to the basement!

Home Again!

We got home about 5:00.  We drove through sprinkles, but skirted the big rain.  When we got close to home,  we could tell they'd had a bunch of rain.  Creeks were out everywhere!

It was sure good to see our First Presbyterian Church friends this morning,  The problem is that we don't get enough time to visit!

Saturday

Rain, rain, and more rain.  It rained here most of the night AND this morning.  Now it's raining again!  Severe thunderstorms around us.  Some lightning here, but the radar doesn't look bad.  I hope that we can get out tomorrow!!

Today was a day for a nap, and a small shake from Grahams.  This evening we went with Bob, Ann, Barb, and Gary to the Country Club for dinner.  We were planning to watch the Cyclone game, but it's been on weather delay since about 7:30.  Lightning in the area.  So I'm going to bed soon.  I'll find out what happened in the morning!

Friday

We both slept in this morning.  It was raining softly on the roof, so it was easy to sleep!!  After we got around, we went to Bob's.  He and Ann went to Cantril with us.  It was really, really crowded!  I didn't think we were going to find a parking place!  We got our popcorn for the winter.  They were giving away both coffee and ice cream cones, so that was probably why there were so many people.

This evening we went to the Recovery Room for tenderloins with Bob & Ann.  I'm stuffed!

Thursday

We're in O-town.  It was a great day for travelling and when we got here, it turned out to be a sunny beautiful day.  We had a meeting with our financial advisor and then we had a Canteen!  They are so good.  They are really good when you only have two Canteens in aa year!  Our financial advisor gave us a couple of things - a book about Alexander Hamilton, a cookie jar shaped like a football, and a dozen chocolate chip cookies from Blaine's Bagels.  Yum, yum!  I probably won't lose weight this week.

Getting Ready

We're heading out tomorrow morning to camp in O-town.  We will leave in the morning and hope to see a bunch of friends...and my brother, of course!  So today was a getting-ready kind of day.  We've got the camper pretty much loaded - just need to get the refrigerator stuff in the morning after breakfast.

Rainy day

It was raining when I got up this morning...and it has rained off and on much of the day..  SE Iowa finally got some rain - unfortunately it came with wind!  Hope everyone is okay down there.

Dave mowed today, both at Bryan's and here at the condo.  He wasn't done more than 5 minutes when it started thundering and raining.  Phew!  Lucky he didn't get wet!

Monday

Today was cleaning day for us.  Thank goodness for Dave.  I can't vacuum and dust on the same day.  If I dust and Dave vacuums, we get it all done in a couple of hours.  Thank you, Dabe!

Today was also another procedure for Baby O.  She was all smiles before her procedure.  The doctors were able to fix the stent they put in a few weeks ago - it had collapsed a bit during her heart surgery.  The docs were very happy with what they saw today and are so far planning to send her home soon.  She is Super Girl!  Thank you all for the prayers!

Sunday

Today was the last sermon in the series about the Lord's Prayer.  I've often wondered why we say, "Lead us not into temptation..."  Change the words a bit to 'Lead us not into trial."  To me, that makes far more sense.  After church we went to Morg's where we split a breakfast.

Tonight we went to Bryan's for dinner.  Aidan and Erin both have colds.  I sure hope we don't catch a cold.  I swear he's growing every time we see him.

Saturday

We had a fun day today....Dave got to go to Bryan's.  I met 10  of my PEO sisters for a tour of Dysart.  We saw gardens that this lady had at her house.  Then we toured their historical museum and saw a country schoolhouse plus a video about the Orphan Train that came to their town.  Five children were adopted in this little town.  They have their stories as well as one of the little boy's homemade coat.  Very moving.  Then we had a good lunch downtown.  Fun morning!

Amazing for a very small town!

Friday

I have had a very dull day.  Dave is cleaning grout and I worked on paperwork, including reconciling bank accounts.  I also did a bit of applique but it was gray here today, so it was a little hard to see.  We've been watching CNN for the past couple of days, so I switched to Fox for a while.  CNN is so professional compared to Fox.  I'm tired of all the speculation...I just want it all to end.

Thursday

I've never watched the national news so much in my life.  Very interesting stuff, depending on which news network you are watching!

Dave and I had a good day.  I worked on my appliques for quite a while, plus we went to run errands.  Then this evening we went to Waverly to watching Clayton and his band.  It was fun to see the family - even Bob & Ann were there.  I even had Blaise on my lap and I got to feed Rowyn her bottle!  Clay & his brother and dad were in good form tonight!  They are very good!!

Wednesday

Regency North (our condo association) had a coffee this morning.  That was nice!  It was good to visit with the ladies.  I sat with the ladies and Dave sat with the men.  I think there were around 25 of us.

I went to WW around noon while Dave was mowing at Bryan's.  I lost another pound!  We didn't eat lunch until Dave got home at 3:00.  Needless to say, we didn't eat supper.  Now I'm watching the Cubs and Dave's watching Iron Man.

Tuesday

I had a bad night last night.  I was still awake at 4:38 am!  I got up about 8:15, so I didn't get much sleep.  I didn't take a nap today because I want to sleep tonight!

I was able to get a pedicure today while Dave used a carpet cleaner on the camper.  It's hard to keep carpet clean when it rains and when we have a little 3 year old eating in there.

After watching the Cubs lose again, I switched to CNN to get a handle on what could happen in the US.  Interesting discussions depending on which network you watch.  I just hope that some common sense prevails.

Monday

It was a dark and drear day here today...much like fall.  It rained or drizzled most of the morning and some in the afternoon.  Then it turned off to just be cloudy.  The temp never got above 70, but we had the patio door open for some of the day.  I love having it open.  I can hear the hummers zip to the feeder when I'm on my computer.

I did the Sept newsletter and calendar today and got them sent to the Ranch.  For some reason KC (the manager) wants to talk to me.  I wonder what that's about.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Sunday

Super sermon today - continuation of the series on the Lord's Prayer.  Today was about forgiving our debts and debtors.  Very interesting and thought-provoking.

After church we went to Walmart and too Sam's Club to get some groceries.  We took naps when we got home because neither of us was hungry.  Then Dave went to Bryan's while I watched the Cubs lose again...I'm starting to get upset.  We need to find our sticks!!  One run isn't going to win a lot of games!

Home again!

We had a good 4 days, but it's always good to be home again.  We saw lots of things at the Fair.  The Iowa State Fair never disappoints!  The quilts this year were amazing!  I don't know how the judges decide which ones to honor!  The baby animals were precious as always and our pork chops on sticks were very good.  We said good bye to the Fair on Friday afternoon and  went back to the camper to rest before evening.  Our evening festivities began with wine at one of my sorority sister's home.  Seven ladies - no shortage of conversation and laughs!  Love and miss them!

We got home about 2:00 today, unpacked and did the laundry.  Even watched the Cubs lose...boo!

State Fair

This was our first day at the Fair.  We had a great day!  We went through the 4H building - these kids are so very talented!  Sudi, the kids had made lots of quilts this year!  That was fun to see.  There also seemed to be many more photography entries.  The top 20 were awesome.

We also went through the horse barn, saw the big bull, the big boar, the big ram, and the big pumpkin!  We split a wrap in the drizzle and then had some ribbon potato chips!  The baby animals were darling again!

Came home and both of us took naps.  After supper, it rained...poured, actually.  Now it's quit!

Camping Again

This time we're near Ankeny at Cherry Glen State Park.  It's a beautiful campground with wonderful parking pads.  We stayed here last year, too.  Tomorrow morning we'll go to the State Fair for a few hours.  We got here around 4:00 this afternoon and we've just been hanging out since we got set up.

I went to WW before we came..  I lost .2 of a pound.  Not much, but at least it was a loss!!

Tuesday

Dave and I went to the chiropractor today - that was much needed.  This evening I walked to my PEO meeting just up the street.  Felt good, but now it's dark when the meeting is over...plus, the way back is uphill!!

At PEO I had to give the projects report, and I had the program.  I took my computer and showed a slide show about the area where we live in Florida.  I'm going to be the initiate in our "mock" initiation next month when we have our official visit.

Monday

Today was a help the condo association kind of day.  Dave and our maintenance man worked on tearing out shelves in the room where we keep our folding chairs.  Then Dave painted the room while the maintenance man put together a rack for holding the chairs.  They also put up 3 storage racks for all of the decorations and items the association uses when we have meals downstairs.  We ladies worked on washing all of the folding chairs and card tables, plus going through all of the paper goods and table decorations.  It was hard work, but it needed done and we're some of the youngest residents!  Both of us are pretty stiff tonight!

Aidan was fun.  He even pottied in the big potty.

Big Day

I was exhausted last evening so I didn't blog...in fact, I went to bed a little after 9:00!  We had a big day!

In the morning, we went to the farmer's market to get some tomatoes, sweet corn, and watermelon.  Then we ran errands after that.  About 1:00 we  left for Linda's so we could visit with the family before Kaylee's baby shower.  Got to see Bob & Ann, Kaylee, Linda, Al, Marilyn, Vicki, Allison, Blaise and Rowyn!  Blaise wanted us to stay overnight because Grandpa Bob was going to!  I got to color with him...he told me to use orange!  (I was coloring a fox, so that was appropriate!)  Rowyn is just all smiles!  She is adorable!

This is the card I made for Kaylee!  She loved it! Fun shower!  She got lots of gifts.  Clayton will play in the Netherlands again this year - for Leiden again!  They leave in a couple of weeks to go over the pond!  Baby will be born over there!!
