Saturday

We had a good, hot day here today.  It got up to 94 or so, but felt like 110.  It was a hot one!  The dew point is around 76 so it was pretty tropical.  We are having an old-fashioned thunderstorm this evening.  Lots of lightning, thunder, and rain!  The streets in downtown Waterloo are flooded, as is the Fairground in Des Moines...where the Good Guys car show is underway.

Dave and I went to Sam's Club, to Walmart, and to At Home today.  Then he left me at home to go to Bryan's for a work/play afternoon.  I'm not sure how much they get done, but those guys enjoy each other's company!  I finished up all of the paperwork and got the desk cleaned up.  Plus the laundry is done and the house looks good!

I got to watch the Cubs come from behind in a slugfest!!  Tonight I watched the Braves clobber the Cardinals.  I had a good day, too!

Friday

Dave went to Bryan's to mow today, so I got to lounge around and just watch "The View" without interruption!  Dave wanted to go early because it was to be so hot today.  It was 95 and felt like 110.  Thank goodness there was a breeze!  After "The View". I got busy!  Dave wanted me to order a couple of things, so I did.  Then I worked on reconciling accounts and filing paperwork.  When Dave got back, he finished up hiding the cable cords and painting over them.  I also got a bunch of walking in, too.

We went out for supper tonight.  Went to Beck's Taproom.  Good food!  And we had a tv right by our table, so we got to watch the Cubs win!

Shopping Day

Dave and I were shopping for a lot of the day today.  We found the coffee table and end tables finally - just when we were ready to give up.  We also found a cute cabinet for our tv to sit on and it was on clearance!  We'll get that cabinet tomorrow and the tables sometime in the next 2-4 weeks!  I'm ready to have all of this done.

I talked to my brother a little while ago.  He said they had some bad wind, but no hail and he didn't even go to the basement.  There are a lot of trees and branches down in O-town though.

Wednesday

Since I had to be out and about today because I go to WW on Weds., I ran errands also.  I went to the 12:15 WW meeting where I lost another .8 of a pound.  Then I went to Slumberland and to Furniture Row to look again for a coffee table and end tables.  I found some I liked, but they are very expensive so I didn't buy any.  I think I'll go back to Jerry's tomorrow and get him to order some for us.  His prices are better than any place else in town.  When I finally got done looking at furniture, I decided to have a pedicure.  That's always fun!!

Dave and I went out to dinner tonight.  I did pretty well on points, even though it was Mexican food!

Glad that's over!

Got that colonoscopy done for another few years!  Unfortunately I had a small polyp so I'll have to have it done again.  As the surgeon said, "So you can live to be 95 without colon cancer!"  She said she was on a search and destroy mission.  It was a good experience as colonoscopies go.  Everyone was very nice and made you relax just by chatting with you!  Since I was a bit busy last night, I only got 3 hours of sleep.  I came home and took a nice nap and I'm about ready for bed now!

Monday

I have made it through today, thank goodness.  I even vacuumed and swiffered all the floors today!  Dave worked covering some cable tv cables today.  It was nice having him around.

Sunday

Sunday means church and then out to breakfast.  Today after a great sermon, we went to Perkins.  I have eaten wrong today, but tomorrow I go on all clear liquids so I'm not worried!  I have a colonoscopy on Tuesday morning - what fun!

Tonight we went to Bryan's for supper.  It was good to see them again after Bryan's trip to France.

Saturday

We found a chair!!  Unfortunately we have to wait a month or so because we've ordered it.  It'll be really pretty in here.  Now we're on the search for a coffee table and new end tables/chair tables.  We have 3 different ones and would like them to be all the same style/color.  We're having trouble with them too.  I found one just exactly like I wanted, but it was discontinued...grrr!  We'll keep looking!

Dave mowed at Bryan's.  Bryan got home from France about 5:00 tonight.  We're going out there to cook out tomorrow - a belated Father's Day celebration.

Friday

We went furniture shopping today.  That was fun, but very frustrating.  We didn't come home with anything, but saw lots of recliners that we don't want.  The recliner I use is about 18-20 years old.  Dave used it for years, then he thought it was too broken down and should be ditched...that was a year ago.  I put a new cushion on the seat and put a slipcover over it and have used it all last year and this year.  Now I've determined that it is making my neck hurt!  It doesn't owe us a thing!  Unfortunately, recliners are expensive now!  We're looking again tomorrow.

Another Gray Day

We've sure had a bunch of gray days here, which is a bit unusual for this time of year!  After all it's the first day of summer - we should be having sunshine.  We've had rain almost every day this last week - not buckets full, but still rain.  We're to have a nice weekend and then another 4-5 days with rain.  Several of the campgrounds around Iowa are closed due to high water.

I had a nice call today from my great-niece, Kaylee.  She never calls me, so I wondered if she had an announcement.  We talked for over 30 minutes, basically about our summers, etc.  Then she said something like, before we hang up, we have something  to tell you...the line went dead.  She called me back, but she wondered if I heard her.   I told her when the line went out.  She thought it was funny that I didn't react to her news...they are expecting!!!  I'm going to have another great-great in December, around Christmas.  They're figuring they'll have the baby somewhere in Western Europe...anyway that's where he want to play basketball next year.  That was exciting news!!  She also told me that Oaklyn will probably have her major surgery sometime in July.  She'll be around 6 months old and that's when they try to do these surgeries.  God bless her.

Tuesday/Wednesday

I guess I forgot to blog last night.  I was just too busy watching the Cubs vs the Dodgers.  Earlier I had a massage, so my brain was on hold, too!  Sorry.  It was kind of a boring day anyway!

Today Dave took me to WW where I'd lost another 1 pound.  Then we went to Village Inn for lunch.  He wanted some comfort food and I can get bacon and eggs there!  Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for Dave) you get a free piece of pie on Wednesdays!  We brought our pieces home because we were too full after eating our lunches!  I'm going to divide my piece into a bunch of pieces and eat a piece a day!  It'll be easier to count that way!

This evening we held our HOA Annual Meeting.  We had 22 condos represented!!  We have 4 condos vacant and 2 more rented out of the 35 total!

Monday

We had a pretty good day.  Dave got the second coat on the doors.  I cleaned out two purses, my makeup bag, printed some new med lists for both of us, and even worked on a possible Christmas card.  I was supposed to have a massage, but Steve called and wanted me to come tomorrow night instead.  Since we were without anything to do, Dave wanted to go out for dinner.  He had a steak and I was able to get a blackened chicken breast with steamed veggies.  Very good!

We had a bit of rain this afternoon, along with a bit of lightning and thunder.  We've got rain in the forecast for the next 5 days, but at least the 95+ weather is supposed to be gone.

Happy Fathers Day

We started our day by going to church.  Then we went to HyVee for breakfast.  We've found that when there's a waiting line at the restaurants we like the best, we can get into HyVee for a good, cheap breakfast right away.

I almost fainted at church this morning, so I took it easy today.  Don't know if I was just hungry or if I stood up too fast or what.  Anyway it hasn't happened since so it must have been a fluke.  I might go have my blood pressure taken tomorrow to see if that's okay.

Dave got the window finished, the blinds hung, and even got everything put away up here - yay, yay, yay!!  He even got one coat of paint on the bifold doors while I took a nap.  Now we're watching the Cubs/Cardinals.  I don't like the way this game is going.

Saturday

Bryan left for France this afternoon, so Dave went out this morning just to say goodbye.  Then he talked to Jami, too, so he got to talk to both his kids today.  As for me, I didn't do much.  It's too hot outside for me to want to be out.  Besides I walked a bunch yesterday so today I just hung out.  Dave also painted the window casement in the master bedroom, so hopefully he'll put back up the curtain tomorrow and get the painting stuff out of our house and back to the basement!!  That's where he's going to paint the bifold doors.

We're watching the Cubs/Cardinals game.  It's been a long game and we're only in the top of the 8th.  Woohoo...a home run for Jason Hayward - yay!!  Go, Cubs, Go!!

HOT HOT HOT!!

It was hot here today.  The thermometer said 91, but it was around 100 with the heat index.  Thank goodness there was a breeze all day.

We (Dave, Bryan, Erin, Aidan & I) went to downtown Waterloo for the 100th anniversary of John Deere!  I about melted!  I'm not into heat like this...plus when you're on concrete, it's even hotter!  We saw tons of tractors, but they also had lots of things for kids!  There was popcorn, lemonade, homemade ice cream, and several food booths.  You should see Aidan eat ice cream!  He made sure he got every drop out of his cup!

Thursday

Dave and I went to Carlos O'Kelley's last night for dinner.  I was craving Mexican food.  I was able to eat 2 chicken fajitas for only 6 points, plus some guac for another 4.  All in all, yesterday I went over my daily allotment of points, but I still had 46 weekly points that I hadn't used!  It was worth it because it tasted so good!  Today I'm back on plan.

Dave got the 2nd bedroom done, but after putting up the closet doors (only 1) he was convinced by me that the doors needed either replaced or painted.  After looking on line at new ones, he decided our current doors would be painted.  So now everything is back in place except for the closet doors.

Wednesday

I was able to sleep a little bit later this morning and that felt good.  Dave went out to Bryan's to mow, so I just hung out!  I needed to go to the grocery store and to get him some screws for putting the door to the second bedroom back up.  So I went to the 12:15 WW meeting.  I lost 3 pounds - wow!!  I was afraid I'd hit a plateau but this is good!  I've now lost over 35 pounds!!

Tuesday

Dave got the painting done in the 2nd bedroom - yay!!  Now we'll get that mess put back together again.  Then all he's got left is the window casement in the master bedroom.  I'll be glad when he's done with all of this!

I didn't have anything until PEO this evening, so I finished the book I was reading.  PEO was good, but very long!  We didn't leave until almost 9:30!  Good thing there's nothing tomorrow either!

Monday

Dave and I are both tired today.  I think the weekend caught up to us.  He worked on changing electrical outlets, etc. in the spare bedroom and he was able to get the closet doors out of their tracks.  I sure hope they go back with no problem.  I went to Sam's and to several furniture places looking for coffee tables.  I didn't find anything that I loved.  Guess I'll have to do more shopping!

Camping at Clear Lake State Park

Bryan, Erin, Aidan and Dave and I went to Clear Lake State Park on Friday to camp for the weekend.  When we got there, we found out they'd had 7" of rain on Thursday and everything was pretty much saturated!  We couldn't build a campfire because all of the kindling was too wet or our fire pit was under water.  Friday night was a good night though.  We cooked burgers for supper and enjoyed being with Aidan.  Unfortunately because of the wet conditions, the flies were terrible so all of our meals were eaten inside.  Saturday we were determined to teach Aidan to fish.  When you don't catch anything, though, it's not very interesting for a 3 year old.  He had much more fun throwing rocks into puddles and picking up mud!  After fishing, I wanted to go to the Surf Ballroom (which wasn't open on a Saturday - grrrrr!)  But we did some sightseeing around the lake.  It started to look rainy so we went back to the camper for a brief nap while Bryan took Aidan to a playground.  I was just about asleep when Dave came in to tell me that there was a tornado warning for Clear Lake.  I got up, put on my shoes, and watched the radar on my computer.  Dave kept going out talking to the DNR ranger to see which way the tornado was heading.  Turns out we were okay, but we did get more heavy rain.  Bryan & Erin were in charge of dinner Saturday night, and since their fire pit was now a water pit, they elected to take us out!  We went to the Surf District Rock & Roll Grill.  Won't go there again.  They took way too much time for us (especially Aidan) and the food was mediocre to say the least.  Today we both tore down and came home.  It was a fun time, but I'm glad to be back home!!

Friday

It works!!  The hotspot works!!  Yay!

We came to Clear Lake early this afternoon.  This area had a BUNCH of rain!  Fields are flooded for miles south and east of here.   Corn is laying flat on the ground either from all of the rain or wind.  It looked to us like just a ton of rain as there weren't limbs or trees down.  The campground is WET!!  Our fire ring is under water!   Anyway, the kids got here a little later and came to our campsite for supper.  Aidan tried a popsicle for the first time tonight...he wasn't really impressed!  Erin has really started showing now.  She said this baby is very active most of the time!

Thursday

Today was an errand day.  We got haircuts, both of us. We got groceries and supplies, because we're heading out camping tomorrow.  We're headed to Clear Lake State Park.  Bryan's family is going too.  This will be fun because the guys are going to try to teach Aidan how to fish!

We got a hot spot today, so we should be able to have internet in the camper...we'll see.

Weds.

I had a PT appointment bright and early this morning!  The therapist did the Epley Maneuver on me.  Oh, Lord, was I ever dizzy.  But by the time she did it the third time, my dizzies were gone.  The real test will be tonight when I go to bed.  My therapist is Gail Niewoehner's nephew's wife!  She is really nice and very good at her job!  I have to do this Epley thing to myself until I'm not dizzy when I lie down.

I made a graduation card for Cheyenne today.  Then this afternoon I went to WW, all of this while Dave was mowing at Bryan's.  I lost 1.6 pounds - yay!!  We got lots of lightning this evening, but not a drop of rain here.  :(

Tuesday

Dave started painting the 2nd bedroom today.  He got the window casing painted and cut in around the ceiling, etc.  Then he was able to start painting walls.  It was a drab green and now it's going to be a pretty green!  I worked on putting together a Christmas card to see if that's the one I want to make for this year.  It's okay, but I'm not sold on it yet.  I may have time to try a different one tomorrow.  I've got a physical therapy appointment tomorrow morning at 8:00 - who in the heck scheduled that??  I've been dizzy for quite a while, so I'm hoping to get the Epley Maneuver done on me again.  Last year she said we could do it ourselves, but we're both leery of doing that...don't want to make it worse!

Dave sleeps on a wedge pillow every night and I can't make pillowcases for them.  The ones I made just don't fit right and as he wiggles during the night, the pillowcase comes off.  So we took a pillow to a seamstress to have her make 3 cases for us - one for home, one for Florida and one for the camper.  I bought some from Walter Drake & Sons, but the zipper broke just trying to put the case on the pillow...I'm sure these will be made better.

Monday

Dave got the window trim done in the studio today, so I worked in there trying to "condense" some of my UFO's (unfinished objects).  I threw away some old cardboard patterns and put other things in different areas.  I've so far got some empty drawers!!  That'll probably change tomorrow though.  I'm sure there's stuff I can take off the top of my work table so it looks better.  Funny thing, though, I like having everything right at my fingertips.  That way, when I'm in the mood to work on cards, I can just sit down and work.  When I'm wanting to sew, everything is ready to go.  If I have to get things out of cabinets and drawers, I'll probably get bored before I can ever be creative!

Tomorrow Mediacom is coming to see why we have what I call "splotchy" tv...and internet.  Sometimes everything works fine, but most times the signals come and go.  With what you pay for Mediacom, it should be much better.

Sunday

Sundays are special to us.  We go to church and then go out for breakfast/lunch.  Today was no different.  We went to Village Inn today because again Morg's had a big line out front.  Just didn't feel like waiting for 30-45 minutes.

After a short nap, Dave went out to Bryan's.  Bryan and his family have been gone all week, so Dave needed to see him.  I got some things done here and watched the Cubs sweep the Mets!  Good day all around!

Saturday

Oh my - we woke up today to high wind warnings!  It didn't happen, but it was a scary thought.  We worked on things around here mostly.  Dave is working on the window frames and he helped me change the beds and put on bed skirts...it was definitely a two person job!

Saw a picture of our granddaughters on Tom's facebook page.  Thought I should share it!

Megan, on the right, graduated from middle school.  I remarked that she'd surpassed Kelly in height...not!  She has on 4" heels!!  Fooled me!  They clean up pretty well!

Friday

Dave and I both had doctor appointments today.  We both get to have colonoscopies soon - joy!  Their scales showed I'd lost 35 pounds since September and my BMI went down 12 points!  Plus my BP was 112/70!!  Pretty good appointment.  Anyone want to do my colonoscopy for me???

I also went to Verizon today where they were able to take the Smiley Emoji app off my phone.  They told me lots of people have been in for help with this.  They hide the app so you can't find it!  Now my phone looks normal again!
