Happy Leap Day!

I have 2 friends who have birthdays today - one is 13 and one is 17!  That's fun!  I went to BonWorth with 3 ohters this morning - was able to get everything at 40% off because I've got my model discount plus their Leap Day Sale!  Tonight we had our Fashion Show and we had lots of fun.  It was fun being a model.  We even had our faces made up so that we'd look really good in our new clothes!  We had an audience of about 43 people and all of us had fun strutting our stuff!

After the game, I came home to watch the Cyclones p,lay their last regular season home game.  It was an emotional night for the seniors!

Saturday

Kind of had a quiet day.  It was pretty uneventful until this afternoon when I made baked chocolate pudding for tonight's pasta night dinner.  It was really good.  Too bad we didn't have any ice cream with it!

Wonderful day

What a wonderful day we had today!  We went to CVS to get our flu shots.  I know it's a little late, but for some reason we didn't get around to getting them until now.  Then we went to Ellenton to meet high school friends and their significant others.  There were 5 of us "Girls of 66" - so much fun.  Friends for 50+ years!

Love Thursdays!

I really, really enjoyed my day today!  I didn't even take my shower until about 10:30!  That's my kind of day!  Dave went to church to work and the neighbors left for golf early.  That left me alone just to "hang out".  I also had a pedicure today and got my eyebrows done!  This evening I went up to the hall for line dancing where we learned to do both the Wobble and Shake Your Tail Feather!  I just do a walk through - I don't get carried away!  It's still fun, though!

Wednesday

We woke up to some major storms!  Dave was supposed to go to Sebring for the "friends of Galveston" reunion, but he elected to stay at home because of the weather.  At 8:00 AM the doctor's office called and wanted me to come in to talk about my MRI.  Since Dave didn't go, we went to see the doctor instead.  So...I have a tear in the meniscus on both the right side of my knee and on the left side of my knee.  I also have a major strain in the medial collateral ligament (right side again), arthritis and fluid in the knee too.  Bottom line - surgery.  Should be arthroscopic at least - hopefully it can be done soon.  We've decided to have it done asap so I can get on with getting on!  Now we wait to hear from the surgeon's office.

B&B

There were only 13 people at bowling this morning...and 4 of us cheerleaders!  Small crowd.  They went to O'Keefe's for lunch.  Since Dave was home waiting for the new TV to arrive, I didn't go to lunch with the group.  Our new TV is pretty cool.  I'm glad the other one got replaced.  It wasn't even a year old, but it was obviously a lemon!  After the 3rd time, Vizio finally gave us a new TV!


Bingo tonight was a little better...I won $12!  At least I won!

Funday!

What a fun day!  We went to Myakka State Park today - met Sudi, Howard, Becky, and Jim.  We rode the air boat and saw a whole bunch of alligators!

Super Sunday

We had an absolutely gorgeous day today!  The weather was perfect again!  Church was great - the sermon was awesome!  The music was great!!

After church, we came home and changed clothes and off we went on an adventure!  This week is going to be about adventures!  We took off to find some parks in St Pete.  The first one was Weedon Island.  Unfortunately we didn't do enough exploring because we didn't find the trails there...and there are bunches of them.  So we'll have to go back there and explore a bit more.  The second place we hit was Coffee Pot Blvd...not a park, but a beautiful walk around the water.  We saw manatees up by the sea wall and beautiful homes with big gorgeous gates!  Then we went to Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and did the 5k trail.  It was a great day for it!  Beautiful place!!

Boring but beautiful day!

Dave helped Rosemary today all day!  She had a yard sale and Dave and Bob were there helping here ALL day!  I made 3 trips around the park on Clarabelle, but I was still bored!  I'm glad that's over.

We just got through watching the Cyclones.  It was a good win, but I want to know what's going on with Jameel.  He seems to be persona non grata with the coach.  He's too good a player to sit on the bench.

Full Friday

What a busy day today was!  It was all relaxing, but still busy!  We went to the Legion today to meet Dave's sister and her hubby, plus 6 more friends.  It was a perfect day at the Legion!  Unfortunately we didn't get to sit in the sun - the Legion was really, really crowded.  We didn't leave there until about 3:30 or so.

Cards tonight were bad again...I guess someone has to lose, but why is it always my team??!!

We had good news today at The Ranch.  Sandee S (who just moved away a couple of months ago) and Bill J (whose wife died close to a year ago) got married today!  They kept it a secret from most of the park, so that was fun!

MRI Day

I don't know what I didn't blog last night.  I think I got to working on a jigsaw puzzle online and just plain lost track of time!

Yesterday we went to Sarasota to see Roberta.  Her bathroom exhaust fan wasn't working, so Dave went to fix it.  Bonus was that Greg & Suzy came down from Bradenton to help.  While we were there, Becky & Jim came over and we all went up to the pool to eat lunch.  It was a gorgeous day!  Becky and Jim had plans for the afternoon, so Roberta, Suzy and I stayed at the pool while the guys finished the fan repair.  Last night's cards were more of the same - I lost again!

This morning I got to sleep in and lounge around until it was time to have my MRI.  I took a tranquilizer just so I wouldn't be nervous.  So when we got home and ate a late lunch, then it was nap time!  I'm glad that's over and done with.  Now I just have to wait until mid-week next week to hear the results.

B&B

We had 19 bowlers today.  That's a lot for this year!  Lunch today was at Peter's.  Great food!  I took a short nap this afternoon.  When I woke up, I had gotten a call about my MRI.  It is scheduled for 1:30 on Monday.  Finally!

I didn't get a bingo tonight.  I was close several times, but no cigar!  Now I'm watching the Cyclones in OT against Baylor.  Baylor's uniforms are neon yellow.  Their shoes are neon yellow too.  Wow!

Monday

At 11:30 three of us went to BonWorth (plus Marilyn) to try on and select clothes for the upcoming fashion show.  We found clothes!  Should be lots of fun.  Tomorrow 3 more ladies go to select clothes.  Then we just wait for the event on the 29th.


Tonight at cards, I drew the short straw and didn't get to play.  That was okay with me.  I came home and went to visit with my brother, so that was fun.

Sunday

Happy Valentine's Day!  We went to church this morning as usual.  Then we came home to fix our dish for tonight's pot luck.  We always honor residents who have been married 50+ years.  This year, we had 5 more couples who joined that elite group.  The honorees ranged from 50 years to 66 years - a total of 888 years among them!  That's quite an accomplishment - congratulations to all!

Our TV went out again this evening - that's 3 times in the last 3 weeks or so.  Dave called them and "demanded" a new tv.  Hope we get it soon.  We had to watch Downton Abbey on a small screen instead of the big one!

Friday/Saturday

Yesterday was pretty boring.  The guy who was measuring our windows came at the very end of the time window (12-2:00)...actually he got here at 2:07!  I took Clarabelle for two different sweeps of the Ranch.  We were doing recon just to see what was going on in the park.  We cleaned house and Dave washed the driveway.  Cards - I'm still a loser, but it was a close game at least!

Today we had breakfast at the clubhouse, then we went to Apollo Beach to see the manatees.  There were HUNDREDS of manatees today.  They were just hanging out sunning themselves.  Unfortunately there were also HUNDREDS of sightseers, too.  I really thought I was going to run someone down with Clarabelle!

After that, we drove to Fort Desoto where we about froze...we went out one of the piers and froze because the wind was blowing so hard.  Thank goodness we put jackets on before we went out there.  It was beautiful, though.  The water was churned up pretty good, though, so the pictures I got show the water being brown.  In the more protected areas, it was a beautiful blue!

We went to Trader Joe's when we left the park...it was really crowded, too.  It was the first anniversary of their opening, so they were serving free hot dogs and chips.  Our late lunch was free.  Can't beat that!

Now we're watching the Cyclone men vs Texas.

Beautiful day!

We had another beautiful day today.  This morning after Dave got home from trimming at church, we went to the doctor's office for my knee.  He sent in a referral for an MRI.  Now we just have to wait for them to call me with a time.  The doctor's office was full of people coughing and generally looking like they were miserable - I'm sure they had the flu.  I asked the receptionist if we could wait outside because of everyone coughing and she moved me to the front of the line!  That was nice!

This afternoon we went to Moccasin Lake Park for a "hike".  We saw a huge alligator, some screech owls that were adorable, a couple of injured eagles, etc.  Then we stopped at another park and saw another alligator and a couple of Muscovy ducks.  It was a good day for wildlife and a great day to be out!

Tonight about 15 people gathered at the clubhouse to learn a line dance to "Do You Feel Me" - fun time!

Great day

I had a great day, albeit a quiet one!  I didn't go to bowling - since I couldn't shuffle in the ELS tourney, I decided I was just staying home.  So Dave went - there were 11 bowlers and they went to The Dugout after bowling.  Dave brought me home some ziti alfredo...yum!

I won at bingo tonight - $28!  I hadn't won for 3 weeks and I didn't win until the 3rd from last game!

Gorgeous Day

We had a beautiful day today!  It was warm enough to be outside without a jacket!  Yay!!  We  took Clarabelle to Largo Nature Park for a "hike".  That was really, really nice!  We were able to see lots of wildlife - a huge alligator and several different birds!  We even took the big hike - around to the observation deck...it was great not having to limp around!

Super Sunday

I wore long pants to church for the very first time.  It was downright chilly this morning!  The wind was blowing and I'm sure we had a chill factor down here!  After church we went to JD's for breakfast.  Then at 2:00 we had massages and at 5:30 we had our Super Bowl party at the club house.  After eating, 10 of us decided to play 7s while the game was going on.  It was so noisy in the clubhouse that we couldn't hear ourselves think!!  I came home at halftime and Dave came home after the first quarter.  Now we're watching the game here at home in the quiet!

Rainy Day

We put on our sweatshirts and headed out with Clarabelle to go to the Largo Nature Park...wrong!  They were having some kind of a 5k event there so we couldn't get in.  That's also when the rain started.  So we went back home.  After about an hour, we went out again - this time to 5 Guys for lunch and to go to Home Depot and Lowes to check out cabinets.  I was not impressed with Home Depot at all.  I just felt their stuff just looked like junk.  Lowes was much better!  We didn't make any decisions, but at least we are both on the same page for style and cost.  It pretty much rained most of the day.  Glad to be in where it's dry!

Friday

Dang, the cold weather is back!  We worked outside today.  Dave and Bob got the back pad ready for the bicycles.  That's really nice, cause now the driveway is a driveway not a bicycle garage!

Then when they got that done, Dave put "Clarabelle" together.  I'm going to love her!!

While Dave was taking Clarabelle for a test ride, Bob and I started straightening out the edgers around the front of our house.  I raked rocks and Bob took each edger out and re-set them all!  Thanks, Bob!  Dave came home and helped finish them.  It looks great!

Cards were not so good tonight!

Seems like Saturday

Are you sure this is Thursday?  It sure feels like Saturday to me!  Dave went to work at church this morning and I just hung out.  We're going to replace the windows in our mobile and we had an appointment at 9:00 to determine our options.  Then we had to make soup for the soup and sandwich dinner this evening.  We made apple raisin soup and it was really good.

It's supposed to be served chilled so that's what we did.  I, however, liked it just as well hot.  We had about 17 different soups and PBJ, tuna, salmon, egg salad, and ham salad sandwiches, plus many desserts!  Fun time!

Wednesday

What a beautiful Florida day!  It was hot and humid but with a wonderful breeze!  After coffee we shuffled.  I only played 2 games, because I tweaked my knee and actually almost fell down.  So this afternoon I stayed home with my knee wrapped and ice on it.  I won one and lost one that I should have won.  I'm supposed to play in a tournament next Tuesday, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to...It's a day-to-day situation.

Cards tonight were really fun.  Unfortunately we got beat, but it was still fun!

Down in the dumps

I'm kind of down in the dumps tonight.  My knee hurts so I couldn't bowl and I'm limping a bunch today.  I didn't win at bingo - that's 3 weeks in a row!  I'm just kind of low.

Monday

We picked Bob & Ann up from the airport today and late this afternoon we all went to Cheddars for an early dinner.  Then, of course, it was time to play cards.  My team got beat on the last hand, but were ahead for 3 hands!  I only had about 9 3's tonight - much improved over last week!
