We're Home

After a long ride on Monday, we stayed last night at Marr Park near Washington.  Then this morning, we hurried around and got out of there because it looked really stormy in the East.  That was already by us, though, so we had good driving all the way to the 'loo.

We had a great weekend.  Lots of fun camping with family.  Some nights there were 20 around the campfire.  It was beautiful weather.  The first night there, this cute little saw whet owl flew in to watch us.  That's the first owl I've ever seen (other than ones in cages).  I was so glad I had my camera there with me.  We also had a Northern Flicker and a Downy Woodpecker visit.  An eagle flew by and there were Canada geese families on the river behind Don's and Nancy's trailers.  A

We're here

I've got to write fast as again we have spotty wifi!  We made it after driving for 8 hours and 15 minutes.  We have determined that we'll not do that again until we can buy a heavy duty truck.  We still swayed, but not nearly as bad.  Part of it was the roads - there are so many semis on the roads that they have worn grooves in the pavement.  That's hard to drive in!  But we made it save and sound.  We sat out tonight and visited with family and now we're winding down in our own camper!

No wifi

We're at Marr Park in Washington Co. and they lied...there's no internet most of the time unless you go over to the Co Conservation Center.  Once in a while it'll come on like now.

We came over yesterday - I made it okay, but the wind blew us around something awful.  We determined with experts' help that we needed heavier tires on the truck...so now we have them.  I'll let you know when we leave here if that helped!

Allison's game last night was great.  They won 13-1.  That was her first JV game and she threw a no-hitter and only walked 2 batters.  She also walked each time in 3 at-bats and the 4th time she had a nice single.  She also scored 2 times and was called out at 2nd once.  Overall she had a great night!  The varsity didn't fare so well.  Tonight we go to Mt Pleasant.

As for me, as long as I take a meclizine, I do pretty well.

Sunday

Dave and I were both up most of the night, so we didn't make it to church this morning.  In fact I went to bed at 7:00 AM and didn't get up then until 11:30.  I slept well during that time.  I feel a little better today.  Being a dizzy dame isn't much fun!  We're wanting to camp this week and weekend, so we went out and got the camper.  We took it for a test ride.  I think I can do it.  I'll put my "barf bag" right by me in case!  Of course, if I feel worse tomorrow, we won't be going.

Beautiful day

What a gorgeous day it was today!  We sat out on the balcony for lunch and I had the door open all day.  Then this evening we went to Bryan's for a cookout.  I am still dizzy but just sitting around isn't so bad.  Unfortunately riding in the car was not fun and it was hard for me to play with Aidan.  He is just so cute and he's getting ornery now!

Sleep!

I got myself some sleep last night!  I tell Dave that one of these days, I'm going to sleep until noon.  Today I almost did it.  I got up at 11:45!!  I slept the clock around!  I shut off my book at 11:25 last night and fell asleep pretty quickly.  I slept in the bed - I was able to prop my head up high enough that I was able to keep from being dizzy.  I woke up feeling pretty good - just not quite tracking right. I've only taken one dizzy pill today and before I go to bed I'm taking an allergy pill instead.  When I get dizzy, my sinuses also hurt.  That's why I'm trying the allergy pill instead.

Dizzy dame

I am still dizzy.  It's not as bad as it was, but I'm still listing to the left.  I am having a hard time sleeping because I can't sleep on either side.  I'm NOT a back or stomach sleeper, so this is bad.  Plus the Meclizine I take for this wipes me out, so I REALLY, REALLY need to sleep!

What a beautiful day we had today.  It was still 70 here at 7:00.  I had the balcony door open for quite a while today.  I hope this weather sticks around.  If I feel better, we're planning to camp all of next week - some days near Washington and then to Indiana for the weekend.

Weds

I hope I wake up tomorrow differently than I did today.  I was extremely dizzy this morning and had to call Dave to help me.  I was so bad I got the dry heaves.  I took a dizzy pill as soon as I stopped heaving.  I've been dizzy all day, but no longer nauseous.  Thank God.

It was nice today...we even sat out for a few minutes.  Once the wind picked back up then we came in.

Tuesday

It's getting better weather-wise - thank goodness!  I didn't even need to wear a jacket and shorts were good today!  I worked here.  I got two of our big rooms vacuumed today, so tomorrow I've still got plenty to do.  I was planning to do more today, but Dave came home to take a nap so I had to be quiet.  Then when he woke up, he decided we were going to get a milkshake and go to a concert at our church.  The UNI Men's Glee Club were doing a "going away" concert.  Tomorrow they leave for 2 weeks in Iceland and Norway.  Wow, were they good!  I'm glad we went.

Just finished watching the Cubs get beat...grrrr.

Monday

Dave is working on selling his boat to Kyle, so he was a little busy today.  I dusted and put things away in preparation for vacuuming tomorrow.  We have 1700+ square feet to vacuum...I'll be doing it in segments.

Sunday

Great service today at church.  Good music too.  After church we met Bryan, Erin, and Aidan for lunch at Carlos O'Kelley's in Cedar Falls.  That was fun.  I didn't eat much because I was busy playing with Aidan.  He's getting to be so much fun!

This afternoon Dave went out to Bryan's to help him with some projects while I stayed here and watched the Cubs get beat.  :(

Blaise is 2

We had such a fun day today, although we about froze to death!  We went to Kyle and Cassie's to help celebrate Blaise's 2nd birthday.  He is quite a kid!  He knows all of his colors, can count to 15 (if he wants to!), talks in full sentences, knows every animal on the planet and what sounds they make.  He loves the Ninja Turtles and Superman and Mickey Mouse and bubbles and tractors!  He was so busy running around having fun - he should really sleep well tonight.

He got one of those balance bicycles plus this helmet for his birthday and he just left it on!  He's just a hoot!

Friday

I missed blogging yesterday.  I don't know what happened, but I became a pumpkin before I got my blogging done.  I'm pretty sure it's the mecclazine that I'm taking for this dizziness.  I didn't take any today, so I must be getting better.  Yay!

I was sitting here watching the Cubs today when a bright orange/yellow bird caught my eye out on our balcony.  I had visitors - both a female and a male oriole came to the hummingbird feeder.  It was fun watching them.  They are such big birds compared to the hummers!

Dave and I went shopping today.  We've got Blaise's 2-year birthday party tomorrow. so I finished off his gift!

Weds

Poop!  My Cubs got beat 2 games today.  Grrr.  Also another gray, foggy day, grrr.  We went to my neurologist in Iowa City - got a good report, yay!  Got a good nap in.  I'm almost finished with a gruesome book - yay!  Talked to my brother - yay!  There were more yays than grrrs!!  Must have been a good day.  I sure hope the sun shines tomorrow.

GRAY AGAIN!

I'm really sick of this!  Today we talked about staying longer in Florida next year because of this cold, dreary stuff.  We were lucky to get the sunny days of camping!

When I went to bed last night I got dizzy - I haven't had that problem for a long time.  I've been dizzy all day and still am.  We went to the chiropractor this afternoon and I'm hoping that will help.  While we were out today, we went to Verizon and got new phones.  So far, I love mine!  I'm actually able to get my email and take good pix, etc.  I think I'm really going to like it.  Dave even got a smart phone today because it was buy one, get one free on the Samsung Galaxy 7's.  He thinks the world is going to end because he's always said he'd NEVER get a smart phone!

PS:  The new picture on my blog banner is Blaise.  He turns 2 this weekend and he's all boy!

Gray again!

We had another yucky day today.  At one time it said it was 63 out, but I don't believe it.  It was drizzly and windy and cold.  I'm glad we weren't in the camper today.

Dave worked in the garage putting together some furniture for one of the ladies upstairs.  She told him if he'd do this, he could park in her other parking space.  So he's got an incentive!

Day 5

Yes, I skipped Day 4!  We couldn't get the internet to work.  I think it was because the campgrounds were pretty full so lots of technological toys!  So Dave and I read instead.  TV at the campground wasn't anything to write home about either, but the view was beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We got up early enough this morning to tear down and bring the camper home.  Then after church and after waiting over an hour and a half after putting in our order for lunch, we took the camper out to the storage place.  Now the laundry is done and put away, Dave got groceries, and we're on our way to getting back to normal.

Day 3

We had a great day today.  It was hot and windy here...and now we have many more neighbors than we had earlier.  In fact, the campground is pretty full.  We had the awning out to keep the heat down, but the wind was so strong we had to put it down.  This evening, we had visitors.  Kori, Sami, and Sonya came out when they were riding their bikes.  It was fun visiting with them.

Day 2

We made it through the night, although Dave didn't like the bed...it was too hard!  I didn't mind it, but we went out and got a 3" foam pad to go on top of the bed.  We both took naps this afternoon and that went well.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by going to Los Cabos for lunch.  Then we went to Scratch Cupcakery to see if Sami was in AND to have a cupcake!  We got to see Sami and we had great cupcakes!  Dave had a salted chocolate brownie one and I had a lemon pie one...yummy!  Later today we got the bikes out and rode around the lake.  The hills kill me, but I'll get used to them again!  We cooked a roast today and had it and mixed veggies for supper.

Inaugural Trip

We are camping!  It took us a while to get set up, but we're here!  It's cold out tonight, too.  Hope the furnace keeps running!  We had visitors tonight...Bryan brought Aidan out.  He loves ice cream, so after he did a lot of running around outside, we brought him in for some ice cream and some strawberry shortcake goldfish.  Hope the sugar doesn't bother him tonight!  As much as he ran around, I'm pretty sure he'll sleep well.

Beautiful day

We jad such a beautiful day today.  After we went shopping, we ate our lunch out on the deck - it was that pretty.  The reason we went shopping was that we needed some things for the camper.  We're planning to go camping tomorrow night for the next few nights.  We have an appointment to "orient" us on the camper in the morning.  Then we'll come home and finish loading...then take off.  We're looking forward to it.  Hope the weather cooperates.

Woohoo!!

The sun was shining brightly all day!  It felt so good both physically and mentally!  It even got up to 64 and no wind, so it was wonderful out.  Dave and I both had doctor's appointments today.  Then he went out to Bryan's to mow.

Gray again!

'Twas a dark and gloomy...oh, I guess Snoopy already did that!   Anyway we had another gray, drizzly day here.  About 7:30 it started to clear off and the forecast shows partly sunny tomorrow with a high of 59.  It also shows 3 days of 70's this week.  I need the sun!

We went to a different church today.  We're looking for one that "grabs" us.  I liked the message, but it was lacking something.  We'll try a different one next week.
