The Leak is Stopped!

The plumber finally came to fix the leak in the basement.  It was from our shower thru the pipes in the apartment downstairs.  The leak itself was in their walls.  It took the plumber about an hour to fix it.  He had to cut a hole in their wall, cut thru the pipes and repair them.  There's no leak in the basement!!  We can use our main bathroom again!! 

While he was here, I went out for my walk.  It was gorgeous out there today!!  When I got back, he was all done.  I got to see in the apartment downstairs.  In fact I got a tour.  It's full of boxes and boxes...and furniture and wine!  What a mess!

Calm Day

We got 3/4 of an inch of rain last night - yay!  Everything is drying up here.  We were able to walk outside this morning, thanks to the rain for cooling it off a bit.  It was only 87 here today instead of in the 90's!

We had a pretty boring day today - and the Cubs game sucks so I shut it off!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Twenty-nine years ago today, Dave and I got married in Davenport, Iowa.  Hard for us to believe that it's been 29 years already!  Sometimes it feels like it was just the other day!  We wanted to do something fun for our anniversary - something different.  We decided to go to the Cedar Valley Arboretum for our walk.  It was fun.  We got our walk in out there and were able to see some of God's beauty at the same time.

It was a good day!!  We feel so blessed!

Sunday

Another beautiful day here, but we're really needing some rain.  Possibilities for rain are in the forecast for this week.  So we're hoping.

Church this morning was sparsely attended, but it was a good sermon.  After church we went to walk at the mall.  We walked two laps and then went to Walmart for some fresh fruit for tonight's dessert!  Lots of times we go to Bryan's on Sunday night and tonight was no exception.  I made cucumbers and onions because Bryan loves them.  Dave got the two bowls out of the frig to take with us.  He got the leftover watermelon and the fruit...oops.  Poor Bryan didn't get any cucumbers & onions.  Dave will take some out to him this week!

Saturday

We went to the Farmers Market in Cedar Falls this morning.  It's not a very big Farmers Market but they do have plenty of produce now.  We got some sweet corn, cucumbers, onion, and some white popcorn.  Our popcorn from the Dutchman's Store is gone and it's too far to drive down there.  We're trying this - it's from a local grower.  Hope it's good! 

Dave went to Bryan's while I rested and read.  Then I watched the Cubs win again!  This evening we're just hanging out.

Yay!

I'm feeling a little better  today.  We actually got out and took a walk - only about 1 mile, but at least it was something.  My legs felt like rubber so we didn't do the usual 2 miles.  It was lovely out today - low humidity and nice temperatures.

Dave went out to help Bryan after lunch.  I read and took a nap.  Then I watched the Cubs win!!

Thursday

We had to get up early today because the plumber who will be fixing the pipes below us was going to be here at 7:30.  Getting up at 6:30 when you're feeling well is one thing, but getting up that early when you are under the weather is for the birds!  I got up, though.  I took my shower, ate breakfast, and waited for him to come.  He was about 10 minutes late and only stayed a couple of minutes.  Then he and Dave went downstairs to the condo below ours where the water pipes are leaking thru to the basement garage.  It's their apartment that gets to have a hole cut out of their wall and the pipes replaced - which is good for us.  Unfortunately no one lives there.  Mr & Mrs have both passed away and their son uses it for storage.  So now the board will try to get in touch with him to tell him what will be done.

The rest of the day I slept a lot...and read.  Tonight we had popcorn and my sore throat feels so much better.  Sure hope it still does tomorrow!
