Tuesday

Hard for me to believe that tomorrow is August 1st.  That means the State Fair is just around the corner...then school starts...then football...then we'll be heading back to Florida!!  I must say, we've had a fun summer so far.  This weekend we're going camping with the kids - so more Aidan time!!

Today, in order to get my walk in, we went to Walmart to get some supplies for camping.  We also were able to get haircuts - both of us!!

Monday

Dave and I went to Sam's and to Younkers today.  I went just to get my walk in.  The rest of the day, Dave was busy working around the condo.  He is happiest when he is busy!

This was a gorgeous day...low humidity and just about perfect temps.  We sat outside this evening while the meat was on the grill.  Several people in the building were out on their balconies.

Sunday

We  had a good day today.  At church, Pastor started a 5 week series about the Lord's Prayer.  Even the songs were good today - all three were easy ones or ones we knew!  We wanted to go to Morg's for breakfast, but the line was 6 people long outside so we went to IHop instead.  It was good!  Then we went to Younkers again.  Dave got 2 pair of long pants and wifi earbuds..  I found 2 dresses and a pair of jean shorts.

Bryan wanted us to go to the Bremer Co Fair, but we were too tired.  It drizzled off and on all afternoon, so I don't know if they went or not.

Saturday

I didn't do much today.  We did eat outside, it was so beautiful out!  In fact, we had to close the patio doors early this evening because we got chilly!  It was down in the 50's this morning - starting to feel like fall around here!

Friday

Today was Dave's colonoscopy.  Yesterday they called here and told him to come 30 minutes earlier that they would be able to get him in earlier.  So we got there in plenty of time to find out that they were running about 45 minutes late.  Sure enough, they came to get him 45 minutes after 12:00.  In another 45 minutes he was back talking about elephant farts...I have no clue!  He was out of it!!  It was after 2:00 when he finally got released.  We stopped at Village Inn on our way home so we could eat.  Then we both fell asleep after we got home.  In fact, he's asleep again now.

It was so cold in that hospital room that I finally accepted a warmed blanket.  The Village Inn was also cold, so by the time we got back home we were chilled to the bone.  I'm sure glad I had taken a jacket with me today!

Thursday

Woohoo!  I finished all 70 of my Christmas cards.  Obviously I won't be sending them out until December, but since I make my cards, I have to do them in the summer!  Now I've got to find 70 envelopes and pack them in with our Florida stuff so they go south with us!

Dave and I cleaned the house today.  Dave is doing his prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow, so you know what we'll be doing tomorrow.

Wednesday

Today I worked on Christmas cards and got 18 completely finished before Dave came in from mowing here at the condo.  Then this afternoon I watched the Cubs until I had to leave for my WW meeting.  I lost another 1.4 pounds this week!!  YAY!!!  I'm trying to get down 50 pounds before the summer is over!  According to the WW charts, I've still got another 33 pounds to go to be at my goal weight for my height.  I don't know about that chart...I don't think I need to lose another 33 pounds.  maybe another 23, but I'd be happy with another 13!  We'll see!

Dave wanted a tenderloin tonight, so we went to the Pump Haus in Cedar Falls.  Tomorrow he does a clear liquid diet before a colonoscopy on Friday.  Been there, done that!  After dinner we stopped by Bryan's just to get a hug from Aidan!

Tuesday

We had a fun day today.  We finally made it to the Cedar Valley Arboretum!  It is 40 acres and has some beautiful flowers!  It was a nice day for walking among God's beauty!

We had lunch when we got home and Dave went to Bryan's to mow.  I uploaded pictures and read for a bit.

Time is flying by!  Can you believe it's already the 23rd of July?!!  We bought our State Fair tickets today, so that is close!  Plus the weather has cooled down a bit.  This weekend it's supposed to be in the 70s for highs.  Makes you think fall is just around the corner!

I worked on the newsletter/calendar today and got it sent to the office for printing.  I also did another step on our Christmas cards.  Maybe I'll get to work on them again tomorrow.

Sunday

Our sermon today was a good one based on Acts 18:1-4.  We had lunch/breakfast at HyVee again.  It's cheap and very good.  It was beautiful here today...felt like fall!  This afternoon Dave went out to Bryan's.  Bryan's family had just come home from camping so Bryan needed to empty the camper.  So Dave got to entertain Aidan.  Dave called me and Aidan wanted to talk to me.  He's so good on the phone - he really carries on a great conversation!  But when he's done, he's done.  He just takes off!

Update on Oaklyn.  She's having a heart cath on Thursday this week, so keep her in your prayers.  Her surgery is planned in a couple of weeks.

Saturday

We went grocery shopping today, which means we went to Sam's and to Walmart.  I go along now so that I can get some walking in.  Dave wanted to go to the thrift shop to get some shorts, but I suggested we go to Younkers to see what they had left in the store.  We found him a couple of pairs of shorts and I found another pair of shorts, and two tank tops, plus a sleeper for our new granddaughter coming in September - all for $99!!  Pretty darn good!

This afternoon Dave worked on cleaning up the car while I worked on Christmas cards.

Doubleheader Cubs-Cardinals games today - yay!  The first game was good.  We got hot in the 5th inning.  This second game is about to go into extra innings.  Cardinals just tied it up in the 8th. Maybe this isn't going into extra innings - the Cardinals just scored 3 in the 9th!  Boo!!

We had a cool day here today, which is a bit unusual for July.  It's better than the oppressive heat we had earlier this month!

Dave went to Bryan's to work on cleaning up their tool garage.  He was going to vacuum the truck, but never got around to it.  Evidently the garage was a mess!

Thursday

Dave and I had plans for an outing to the Cedar Valley Arboretum today, but when we got up it was raining.  The forecast called for rain most of the day.  I'm sure some people complained about today's weather, but elsewhere in Iowa where it wasn't raining, they got tornadoes.  It stayed cool here today so conditions were not conducive for tornadic activity...thank God.  Pella, Marshalltown, and Bondurant are pretty badly damaged with multiple injuries in Pella...mostly at the Vermeer plant.

Dave and I went out during a break in the rain.  Got some cushions for our glider/rocker.  These go better with the room now that it's redecorated.  Got back just before the rain started again.

Now I'm watching the Cubs play the Cardinals.  Hope it ends soon.

Wednesday

I did it!  I hit 40 pounds lost!!  Now I'm heading to 50!  It seemed to take a long time getting from 30 to 40...I hope the next 10 goes off a little more quickly!  At the WW meeting tonight, I sat by a lady who has lost 80 and still has a long ways to go!

I worked for a while on Christmas cards today.  I think I have all of the components cut out except for the card bases.  Now to stamp, emboss, and assemble them!  My goal is to have them done by Aug. 15th.  Think I'll make it?

Yuck!

I had to go grocery shopping today - yuck!  This is a Dave job, so I really don't like doing it.  Plus, you can't just go to one store.  You have to go to two different ones to get different things.  Peaches and frozen fruit from Sam's and the popsicles from Walmart.  Sometimes we go to Fareway, too!  I also went to Target because I had to get a gift for Kaylee & Clayton's baby shower!

Dave worked on the camper and out at Bryan's, so I had the day alone...again.

I got to sleep in today.  I watched the Putin-Trump press conference.  What a joke!  POTUS simply kowtowed to

I  Putin in my opinion.  I really wanted to watch The View, but they got pre-empted for the press conference.  Now I'm watching the home run derby.  I really wanted Schwarber to win, but Bryce Harper got it.  That's all right, since it was in his home park.  That was quite an exhibition of prowess!!

I went to At Home today to get some decorations for the living room.

Saturday/Sunday

This weekend was a lot of fun, even though we again had a lot of rain.  We started out Saturday with a good breakfast followed by a trip to Eureka, IL to visit some shops.  Eureka is where Ronald Reagan went to college, so we also visited his museum on campus.  It was a small, but good, museum.  Many things from his time there and, of course, his later life.  Besides the presidency, the had stuff from his movie career, his radio time, his governorship of California, etc.  Nice museum!

Even though it was close to 90 degrees, we had a fire and sat around it for a while.  Plus during our indoor time, Don & Bev taught us how to play Euchre.  Dave had played before and I had played some in college.  It's a fun game and I'm glad they re-taught us!  We also played dominos and that's always fun!

After breakfast and sitting around gabbing, we all got ready to leave.  We were out of there by 1:00.  Long ride home.  The state of Illinois needs to fix their roads.  They are bumpier than a teenager's pimply face!!

Friday

We made it to the campground in Goldfield, IL.  It took us about 5 hours and took Don & Bev only 3.5 hours.  We'd have been here earlier if we hadn't had to get gas so often!  There was a lot of traffic today and lots of road construction!

The campground is full!  We're surrounded by campers - big and small!  That didn't stop us from having a campfire tonight though - in 85 degree weather!

Thursday

Dave mowed at Bryan's this morning.  Good thing he went early as it was a very hot day here!  At 4:00 the "feel like" temperature was 105!  After he got home and we ate lunch, we both went to Walmart for some groceries for our weekend camping trip to Illinois.  We'll be meeting Don & Bev at Goodfield for the weekend!  Should be fun but HOT!

Groceries first, then chiropractor!  Yay!  We both needed that!

Yay!!  I lost another .6 of a pound!!  I'm going very slowly right now.  I'm going to have to move a little more in order to get going again.  I have 12 more pounds to go for my next goal...I CAN do it!!

Tuesday

We had an eventful day!  We got our coffee table and end tables delivered today - yay!  I'll have to take a picture because our living room looks very nice.  We need to have a few knick-knacks yet, but that means I have to go shopping for those things.  At Home will meet all of our needs, but today isn't the day to go!

The furnace guys were in the building yesterday, checking everyone's furnace/air conditioning.  So we had to be here and be ready for them to come to our condo at any time.

I also had a PEO meeting last night.

Monday

This was a lazy day for me...not so for Dave.  Dave went to Bryan's and cleaned a bunch of stuff out of the forest - like barbed wire, etc.  He came home around 1:00.  Said it was just too hot.  We had 90 again today with high humidity so the feel-like temps were higher.  I didn't go out today.  I am reading a good book, so I read several different times during the day!  I've still got about 3 1/2 hours left in the book...hope I don't stay up too late tonight!

Home!

Our telephone reception at the campground was spotty to say the least.  When we don't have cell phone reception, we don't have internet through our hotspot.  Needless to say, I didn't always get to blog.

We had a good morning with the family and after breakfast we packed up to come home.  Dave let me drive up to the dump station.  That was an experience!  I think I'll get to do that more often now that he knows I can do it.  We were all at the dump station at the same time, so Aidan wanted out to watch.  I was up saying goodbye to Erin, when I heard him yelling "Grandma Peg!"  He wanted to show me a rock he had found!  It's great being around him so much.  While I was working putting things away this morning, he stayed with me.  I showed him how to bring the slide-outs in.  He thought that was fun!

We leave again Friday - this time to go camping with Don & Bev.  We'll be going to Goodfield, IL.  Getting our money's worth!!

Thursday/Friday

We've had a couple of good days!  We went to Fossil Gorge to see the fossils below Saylorville Dam today.  Aidan has been so good and so fun.  He asks "why" constantly but he's perfectly okay if you don't know the answer to his why!  He might say, "Why is the flower yellow?" and I'll say, "Because that's the way God made it."  He's great with that answer too!

Yesterday we went to Amana and walked around a bunch.  Then we ate at the Ox Yoke Inn.  He got to go upstairs with Grandpa Dave and Daddy to see the bear - he liked that.  Tonight we had ribs and he liked them!  He's just a hoot!  You should see him eat s'mores!

4th of July

Holy crap, it's a hot one!  We went to a bird sanctuary today and I thought Aidan and I were going to melt into puddles!  It was really, really hot and humid!  We all took naps this afternoon - much needed.  The a/c in our campers are getting big workouts!!

The guys built a fire and cooked brats and hot dogs for supper, but we ate inside!  Aidan and I watched about half of Cars 3 (again), but it was fun - just the two of us!

No fireworks for us.  Aidan was so tired!

Tuesday

We did our errands this morning.  I even went to WW at 9:00 - where I lost .6 pound.  Dave was having trouble with his phone, so we went to Verizon and got it fixed.  Then we loaded the cooler and took off for Sugar Bottom, a campground at Coralville Lake near North Liberty.

The kids didn't get here until later, but that way Dave got to help Bryan set up.  Tonight's supper was burgers and potato salad from Fareway!  We watched Cars 3 with Aidan while Erin was napping and then it was an early to bed night.  Bryan and Dave sat outside, though, gabbing - good for them both!

Sunday/Monday

Didn't realize I didn't blog last night.  If I'm working on a 1000+ piece puzzle in Jigsaw World, I lose all track of time and everything.  Yesterday was church as usual and then we waited in line to eat at Morg's.  We figured out that we should come to Morg's about 12:15 on Sunday...by then the crowd is thinned out!

The capris that I wore to church were so baggy that Dave took me to Younkers to buy some new ones.  I found some and they were cheap!!  So today I went back to Younkers where everything is 50-70% off, plus another 20% off of that!  I bought 2 pairs of shorts, 3 tops, 4 pairs of undies, 2 bras, and 2 dresses for $148 - saved $260!!  But the best part of the shopping trip was I was down another size.  I bought L instead of XL and 16 shorts - woohoo!!  Even the dresses were L!!

We're leaving to go camping tomorrow.  We'll be at Coralville at Sugar Bottom Campground thru Saturday.  Plan to be back here for church on Sunday.
