We had another great day with old friends! After lunch, Shirley and Dave met us here to go see alligators. It was a beautiful day so we were hoping to see them at Sawgrass Lake Park. Unfortunately with wildlife, you just never know! On our walk to the tower we saw turtles - both softshell and otherwise, ibises, moorhens, yellow crowned night herons and even a pied bill grebe...but no alligators. While at the tower, Shirley kept seeing the grasses move and sure enough, out popped a pretty big alligator. Up until this time, we saw a 4' one in the grasses, but this big one's tail was about 6-7 feet. He never did get his head out of the grasses, though, so we've only got pictures of an alligator's tail! Oh well, it was a lovely day for a walk!
After all of this, we decided to take them to see the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and Tropicana Field. We went to the south rest area and enjoyed the view of the bridge in the distance. It was beautiful with the sun shining on it.
By the time we were done seeing the bridge, it was time to head back home. We picked up their car and met Sudi & Howard for pizza at Post Corner Pizza. Pizza was delicious as always and the sunset was breathtaking!
More later...
