Tuesday

Dave and I went to the doctor today for our medicare appointment.  Our blood work was good - both of us were winners!!  I like our new doctor.  Our blood pressures were both good!!

We just finished watching the first Presidential debate...what a mess!  I'm not happy that the POTUS acted like a 5 year old bully.  I'm not happy that VP Biden called Trump names, even though he deserved it.  I'm not happy that the moderator couldn't shut the President down.  I think they need a mic cutoff.  When one person is talking the other person's mic is shut off.  I'm not sure I can watch another one.

Monday

 We walked this morning - it was 55 out...not too bad.  It wasn't long after we got back that it started raining.  Dave got the camper and brought it here to make sure the furnace worked.  Bryan's inlaws will be going along this week - they have rented a cabin.  We'll probably be eating our meals inside the cabin.  

We're pretty much ready to go.  Tomorrow we have doctor appointments so that will take up most of the morning.  Then we'll cook the bacon tomorrow afternoon and finish packing.  We leave for the campground Weds. morning.  Should be an interesting camping trip!!

Sunday

 Dave and I walked early this morning - around 8:30.  He said it was going to rain around 9:00 so we needed to get our walk done.  It did rain - not much, but it wouldn't have been pleasant walking while it was raining.  The temp has dropped - last night at this time it was still in the 80's...tonight it is 53!  Tomorrow's high is to be 58...I am not going to like that!!  We're camping this Weds. thru Friday...highest temp is to be 64 and on Friday a high of 49! I think we'll be eating our meals inside.

Dave went to Bryan's to help him put up another bat house.  I stayed here and got pretty bored!   Then when Dave got home, I made banana bread in cupcake form.  I needed his help putting the batter into the cupcake papers.  When I try, because of my tremors, we lose at least 1 cupcake per batch!!  They turned out really good.

Saturday

 We had a good day today.  It was beautiful, but windy!  It's 81 outside right now (at 9:00 PM).  Tomorrow begins the cool down - high of 71.  Then 60's on Monday and 50's mid-week!  

After our walk this morning, I worked on finishing up the ByLaws changes for The Ranch.  I think I've got them ready to print!  Then it was football game time!  I was almost physically ill watching the Cyclone game.  Stupid mistakes almost cost us a win!  But we prevailed!!  

Poor Cubs.  One day they win 10-0 and now they're behind 5-9...what is going on?

 It was really warm here today.  It was still 84 at 5:00.  I walked at 11:30 and I was really thankful that the wind was blowing pretty hard.  By the time I got home, I was sweating!!  Dave went to Bryan's to mow.  Tonight we went out for pizza and movie night - no movie tonight though.  Aidan had done something naughty so his screen time was revoked.  We had a good time with the kids any way.

Thursday

 Other than walking, we did the laundry today.  Boring, huh?!  Actually Dave was busy all day...but not me.  I was just boring!  We went down to the lobby at 4:00 for what I call "Liar's Club".  Mostly any where from 4 to 10 people  sitting around the large room for about an hour just enjoying conversation.  I don't go down there often, but Dave goes every once in a while.  It's a way to get out of the condo and know that whoever is there is practicing safe Covid practices as well.  We all wear our masks and we sit at least 6 feet from each other.

Wednesday

 What a gorgeous day!!  It was mid-70s and no humidity.  We sat out for a long time this evening.  We've had wasps trying to build nests all over the south side of the building, so we sitting out watching where they were going when a hummingbird flew right up to my face.  Scared me half to death!!  He kept coming back and flying really close to both of us.  Very entertaining little bugger!  Dave got a couple of pix of him that he put on his facebook page.

We walked early this morning when it was less than 60 degrees out.  I got to wear my new sweatshirt.  By the time we were done walking, though, I wished I didn't have it on!

Dave edged the lawn for the last time this summer.  While he was doing that, I baked 6 dozen cookies.

Tuesday

 After The View, Dave and I went to Sheel's to buy me a sweatshirt.  I don't own one at all.  So I went to buy an ISU one, of course.   The one I wanted was gone except for a white one and I didn't want white.  So I found another one I really, really liked.  Did you know that college sweatshirts are over $50?!!  Wow!  I'll get a lot of good out of this one...

Today being Tuesday, Starbeck's (a BBQ place in Cedar Falls) has a Tuesday special...pulled pork sandwich (with homemade bread), baked beans (which is really several different kinds of beans),  a cornbread muffin and a drink for $8,99.  We each only ate half of our meal, so we can have it again tomorrow!  Yay!

Tonight I was on my zoom Bible study when something happened that it ended.  I never could get back on.  So I watched the Cubs get beat instead!

Monday

 We both had eye doctor appointments today.  As I suspected, my cataract is growing in my right eye.  She wants to check on it in June - no surgery yet!!  No new glasses either.  Dave's eyes were doing well, too.  We both came  home and took naps - the best thing to do when your eyes are dilated!  

We took our walk this evening around 5:30.  By then our eyes were relatively back to normal and it was beautiful out.

 I got up at 8:30 this morning!  So this morning absolutely flew by.  We did get out walk in - it was a bit chilly in the shade, but otherwise very nice.  I like these crisp days.  Didn't see any hummers today.  I wonder if they took off.  We put new food out for them today, so we'll see.

I got my newsletter done and off to the printers.  The next few months have earlier deadlines, so I'll have to get my rear end in gear to get them in on time.

Saturday

 It was a beautiful day here today, although the temperature was pretty cool...mid 60's for a high and a brisk West wind.  We walked around 9:00 this morning.  

Tonight we had our annual picnic.  We were able to social distance but still be around other owners...in the garage - too cold to sit outside.  Then Dave and I helped put all of the tables and chairs away.

Friday

 We left at 8:30 this morning to go pick up the truck from Agency.  We were happy to get it back!!  We just got in the vehicles and headed back to Waterloo.  Got to Sigourney and Dave smelled smoke...the back brakes had locked up.  So Dave called Mike and he sent the mechanic up to us in Sigourney.  He did an adjustment (he said he must have tightened them too tight) and off we went again.  We stopped at the Pilot station at Interstate 80 to check on them...they were cool.  So after a short potty break, off we went again.  When we got to the condo, Dave checked the brakes again and again they were cool...thank goodness!

I was fighting sleep, so I cranked the A/C down.  By the time I got home, I was freezing...but at least I didn't fall asleep!

Thursday

 Dave and I walked the cemetery today...I had to go back for a jacket - it was a feel-like temperature of  47.  Dave had several things to do around the building today and unfortunately, he didn't sleep well.  He was up at 3:30!  I know how that feels!

Tonight we celebrated Kaitlyn's second birthday.

 We had a relatively laid-back day today.  I did get Dave's hair cut finally.  In doing so, though, we scared our little hummingbird and he hasn't been back to roost on the chair back  all day.  He's still eating and chirping at the other hummers at least.

We took a walk after lunch today - no time before.  Other than that, we didn't do much.

 Beautiful day here today.  It was back in the 80's with plenty of sunshine and a nice breeze from the East.  I didn't walk today but I vacuumed the entire condo and  dusted, too, so I really didn't need to!  I got plenty of exercise lugging that vacuum around!  My back certainly feels like I vacuumed!  Usually Dave helps with the vacuuming but  he went to Bryan's to mow.

Monday

 We went to Agency today - drove both vehicles down.  We left the truck at a friend's business.  Some of his employees were going to fix the brakes on the truck then we'll have to go back down and get it.  While we were down in that area, we visited Grahams and The Canteen...yum!!  We were able to eat outside at the Canteen so we didn't have to worry about other diners.  There was no one else in line at Grahams, which worked out well, too.  Then on the way back home, we stopped and had a social distanced visit with Craig and Sue and that was fun, too.

Unfortunately on the drive, we saw miles of damage from the derecho.  Seeing all that corn down was very depressing...plus the damage to houses, outbuildings, grain bins, silos, and trees.  It was just awful...and it went on for miles...from about 5 miles south of Waterloo all the way down to Hedrick.  God bless those farmers!

Sunday

 Since it is Sunday, I "attended" all 3 of my church services this morning.  After that, Dave and I walked outside.  We finally had a wonderful day outside.  I even kept the balcony door open until about 7:00 tonight.  I only closed it because Dave was cold!!  

Dave went to Bryan's to help him put up a bat box (a home for bats).  Not my idea of fun!  The kids won't use pesticides so they're hoping to attract bats who eat the bugs!

Saturday

 We had more drizzle/rain this morning for a while.  The sun didn't show up until after 5:00 so it didn't get to 72 like it was supposed to.  It was a sad day for my Cyclones.  I thought they played awful...the receivers couldn't catch a cold today!  I felt we should be able to win this game, but it wasn't meant to be.  So tonight when the Cubs got behind, I shut off the tv...I wasn't ready to watch another team of mine get beat.  Right now the Cubs are ahead 4-2...maybe I'll stop watching them for a while!

Friday

 Another rainy day here in the 'loo.  The low pressure center must be moving, though, because my sinuses don't hurt today.  We had a good day.  I reconciled all of our accounts and worked on a letter Dave iss sending to the residents here.  

We even went for a walk today...inside.  We walked 3 laps on each floor and then finished our 2 miles in the basement garage.  Not much fun wearing a mask when you're walking - it's too hot!!  When we got to the garage, I was able to slip it off my nose until someone came into the garage...that helped.

Tonight we went for pizza and a movie.  I took my salad because I had chili for lunch.  Pizza would have been too much.  I just don't dare eat like that or I'll gain my weight back.  The movie was good - none of us had seen it.  We watched "Strange Magic".  It was really quite good...everyone enjoyed it.

Thursday

 I need this rain to go away...I'm having sinus issues because of the low pressure systems.  Even my skin  hurt!! I woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep...grrr.  So I took a nap this afternoon.  I feel a bit better this evening - it's stopped raining here, but it's supposed to rain most  of the day tomorrow, too.  A friend from Ottumwa said she'd had over 7 inches of rain in the last 3 days.  The grass is sure greener now!

We all decided to cancel camping this weekend.  It's not much fun if you have to just hang out in the camper all the time.  If it were just Dave and I we'd be fine - we'd just try to catch up on our DVD's, but the little kids get a bit bonkers after a while.

Wednesday

What a day....another cold, rainy one!  It only got to 54 today and rained all day long.  The little hummer sat on our balcony pretty much all day.  If I could see out there, he's probably out there even now!  He's probably getting ready to head out and is conserving his energy.  I will miss him!

I'm watching the Cubs game.  We're in the bottom of the 9th and we''re behind 3-0...grrr!  Come on sticks!

Tuesday

It rained pretty much all day here today...which is good.  We sure needed it!  The problem with today was that the temperature outside didn't get above 55!!  Right now it's  47 but feels like 42.  Needless to say, we didn't go walking! 

I cleaned my crafting table and tried  to organize it a bit better.  I also cut a bunch of card bases so I'm ready to create now.  I sold 10 of my cards to our neighbor. 

It may be a little hard to see, but this little hummer has been sitting on our rail or on the back of Dave's chair off and on all day today.  God bless him...he acts cold but I think he's really just guarding the food container so no other hummer gets his food!

Happy Labor-less Day!  I've always called it this because it was always a day off for me.  Seems more appropriate than calling it Labor Day.

We walked around 11:00 this morning.  It was a gorgeous morning - maybe a little brisk early but by the time we walked it was maybe 68 so I thought it was great.  For lunch we were invited to Bryan's for a cookout - the last official cookout of the summer although we'll be camping this weekend and we'll be cooking out there. 

We came home around 3:00.  Dave took a nap and I read.  No supper for us because of the big meal at lunch.

 Friday sneaked by and I didn't remember to blog...so since I'm up at 6:00 AM I may as well do it now.  We had another beautiful day here.  I love Fall-like weather!  Dave and I went for our walk early because he had more painting to do downstairs.  I was able to get in to see my favorite hair stylist for a haircut - I was pretty shaggy.  I'm not any more!  She got a bit scissor happy!!  

This evening we went to Bryan's for pizza and movie night.  Unfortunately we watched Cars 2 again.  The other grandma & grandpa hadn't seen it yet so that's why Aidan chose it, but right before the movie started they decided to go home instead of staying.  Aidan, however, still wanted to watch Cars 2 so we had to watch it again.  

When we finally got home I watched the end of the Cubs game and forgot to blog!

Thursday

 It was another perfect day here.  Low humidity and in the 70's!  We walked early before Dave took off to work with Neil painting the ceiling in the east entrance area.  I'm hoping they got done with most of it today.  He worked most of the day for the last two or three days down there.  I finally got the alcohol inks out again today.  Did a couple of cards - one of which I'm going to "edit" tomorrow.  I now, however, have ink all over my fingers!  I also sat out on the balcony today trying to get a good picture of one of the hummingbirds.  We have 3 that chase each other around all day...until I go sit on the balcony - then they seem to disappear!

Wednesday

 I lost a bunch of the scab on my finger - it almost looks halfway normal again!!  Dave walked with me this morning.  Then he took off to work here in the building.  I worked on some cards and swept the floors.  I also did some reading.  Pretty boring day!  Now I'm watching the Cubs!

Tuesday

 I walked by myself this morning because Dave had errands he had to do.  We've got a couple of issues with our new camper, so he was out at Camping World.  For one thing we couldn't get the DVD player to work.  Seems we have a faulty tv so they ordered us a new one.  

We had a couple of rain showers today.  Gotta love that!  Plus it was cool.  We run our air at 73 for sleeping and turn it up to 78 during the day.  Our house still says it's 73!  

I have been attending a Zoom Bible Study on Tuesday evenings.  Tonight's was all on Proverbs.
