Sunday

Church was super today.  We had a baptism - Pastor Amy and the baby's great grandfather baptized him.  He was a cutie!

Dave worked at Bryan's all afternoon while I watched the Cubs and caught up with paperwork.

Saturday

Another cold, drizzly day here in the 'loo!  Another day of long pants, long-sleeved shirt, jacket, and socks!  I know that HB is laughing at me, but I HATE being cold!

We took the campers out to Kyle's today for the winter.  We got to meet Oaklyn.  She's a little doll.  Both of the girls are stuffed up - more teeth!  Hate to think we won't see them again until they are 16 months old.  They will really have changed!  Blaise was at his Grandma's for the weekend, so missed him, too!

Friday

...36 tonight and a high of 53 tomorrow - yuck!  Good thing I bought 3 pairs of jeans!!  I've worn jeans for two days in a row...and I even have on a flannel shirt and socks!  I don't like being cold.

Today was a day of catching up.  We had to find a notary public to witness our signatures and also had to stop at the grocery store.  Other than that we pretty much stayed in.

Thursday

What a day!  This morning, we got up early and went to the Clinic to have our blood drawn.  Then we came home and after having breakfast, I went back to the Clinic for a mammogram and a dexascan.  I have been poked, squished, and scanned!!  Dave went to Bryan's to work for a few hours.

The rest of the day I spent watching "the hearing".  What a fiasco...party lines have been drawn and absolutely nothing will be done for that poor lady.  Women's rights just got pushed back 20 years!  The Right is going  to put Kavanaugh into the Supreme Court because he's "their" nominee...not because he's fit for the job.  The anger at the Left that he showed wasn't very judicial, in my opinion.  Plus, I've known guys like him.  He's an abuser and someday he'll get his due!  I just feel really sorry for a woman who at 15 was attacked sexually and had the nerve to tell her story to the world - all to have it swept under the carpet by a bunch of gold old boys.  Rant over!!

Woohoo!

We went to the doctor today.  She told me what I should weigh...and after weighing in this afternoon, I am only 1.2 pounds from what she said.  She bases her recommendation on BMI instead of weight.  When I lose that 1.2 pounds, I'll be at 50 pounds lost.  Then I have to maintain that for 6 weeks before I can go lifetime, which means I don't have to pay any more!!  That was good news!

Tonight we had game night downstairs.  We played a bit of Family Feud that was really fun.  Dave and I were partners and we didn't do so well, but it was still fun!

Tuesday

It was a dreary day here.  Sun was out for just a few minutes, otherwise it was cloudy and rainy and dark...and chilly.  I even  got out a flannel shirt today!  I worked on hemming a couple of pairs of jeans.  I guess I don't need Talls anymore!  Then I cleaned up my sewing area and even cleaned out my sewing machine cabinet drawers.

Monday

Dave worked around here today - painted some register covers that looked rusty.  We also tore up the tomato plant and the flowers and threw them away.  We're getting ready for a trip south in 3 weeks.  I worked on my jack-o-lantern...I'm almost done with him.  I may finish him in Florida - I just need some fake leaves and some raffia.  I might get time to go to At Home or JoAnn's to get some craft stuff.  Who knows?

DWTS started tonight...there are some pretty good dancers on this season.  Even John Schneider (one of the Duke boys) did pretty well.

Sunday

Church as usual was good!  It was music appreciation Sunday.  I think when it's music appreciation Sunday, we should sing songs we all know...not today!  We knew 1 out of 3!  The ladies who sit in front of us love to sing when we're there, because Dave has a nice strong voice, but not this morning.  Maybe next week!

This evening we went out to Bryan's for supper.  I got to hold Kaitlyn.  She's not eating very well so Erin's getting a bit frustrated.  Aidan was very quiet tonight.  He told me that he was "just chilling!"

Saturday

Another cold day here.  You can certainly tell that fall is here.  I guess it really isn't - until tomorrow!  Tomorrow is supposed to be a very nice day, so we are invited to Bryan's for the last cookout of the year.  I sure hope I get to hold Kaitlyn!  Next Saturday we're taking the campers out to Kyle's, so I am praying that we get to meet Baby O!  She's doing well again.  She had a little spell last week and had to go to the hospital for tests...she had caught a bug of some kind; it wasn't her heart, thank God!

Fun day - both the Cyclones and the Cubs won...and I got to watch both games!

Friday

It's cold here.  We didn't get above 65 with a brisk wind.  I'm starting to think about Florida!!  I worked on a jack-o-lantern wall hanging today...one that is done on grid cloth.  Should be cute when I get done with it.

Other than that, I watched the Cubs get beat again...grrr!  Good thing we're ahead in our division, but too many more games like today and we won't have to worry about post season play.  Just don't understand what's going on with them.  The Sox are horrible but they beat us 10-4 today.  Our pitchers got rocked.

Thursday

Dave took me to the eye doctor this morning so that he could take pictures of me in different frames.  You see, I can't tell what the frames look like without my glasses on!  I found a pair I liked that are quite a bit different from what I've been wearing for a few years.

When we got home and had lunch, Dave went out to Bryan's.  Bryan was able to get out of the house for a while to work with Dave.  I think Dave is going out there again tomorrow morning.

Wednesday

It poured here today - we had to have over an inch of rain again today.  There is water everywhere.  The poor farmers are going to have to wait to get into the fields!!

After WW (where I gained .4 of a pound...not bad for 5 days in Door County!) we went out to see the baby.  Erin & Kaitlyn got released today, so we went to their home.  Little squirt was sleeping and didn't want to eat again, but they finally got her going.

Tonight we had our "picnic" in the lobby.  We won a door prize - a gift card from Village Inn!  We like gift cards.  I made hot fudge brownies in the crockpot.  They were a hit!

Tuesday

After almost 3 months of waiting, we finally got our new chair!  It really looks nice in our living room.  Hope to get a picture tomorrow.  It was gray and rainy and only got to about 68 today, so didn't feel like getting a picture.  Maybe tomorrow.

We did go to the hospital to see the kids and Kaitlyn.  She was being a little pill - she wouldn't eat.  She just wanted to sleep!  She ate at 8:30, then when we left about 1:00. she still hadn't eaten.  I'm assuming she ate this afternoon.  Here's a picture that shows how tiny she is.  She weighed 6 lbs 13 oz, but she's itty bitty to me!

Home Again

Thank God we made it home in one piece.  Just on the edge of Madison, we heard a pop and it was a tire on the camper which blew.  We were in pretty heavy traffic - 3 lanes - going 70!  Dave got it to the side of the road and went back to inspect it.  I called 9-1-1 because I was afraid we were going to get hit.  We were just over a little knoll, so the cars couldn't see us until they were right on us.  I really nice young officer came up behind us with his lights on, so traffic moved over.  It was a very scary situation.  Then the rest of the way home, we held our breath that another tire didn't go - we only have 1 spare tire!

Door County is all they say it is.  It is gorgeous!  I'm glad we went!

Friday

Today was another fun day in Door County!  We did some sight-seeing in Sister Bay and in Ephraim.  Then this evening we were all together at a fish boil in Ephraim.  That was a fun experience!  I had chicken, but Dave had the fish.  The fish boil had potatoes, whole onions, and then white fish.  The buffet also had lemon bread, marble rye, pumpkin bread and another one, plus coleslaw.  Then we had cherry pie for dessert.  I am ready to leave this place - too much good food here!

Thursday

Today we all went on a ferry off the north end of door county - over to Washington Island.  While we were there, we rode a tram around the island.  We ate at Nelson's Café where we all joined the Bitters Club by drinking a shot of bitters.  Talk about bitter!!!  I think the consensus was that it was gross, but we did it!  Good food, though!

The boat ride was wonderful, as was the day.  We got on the 10:00 boat and came home on the 2:30 boat.  Our bartender, Christian, did a fantastic job.  He got all of our drink orders, our lunch orders, our bitters orders, and got us out of there in a very short time.  We were impressed!  All of that with about 3 minutes advance notice that a group of 20 was coming to the bar.

Wednesday

We had a fun day today.  The Girls of 66 got together for lunch and to greet Nan, who arrived around 11:45.  After a group picture, we had a great lunch consisting of salads, ham or turkey sandwiches, fresh fruits, chips and cookies.  Then it was off to do some shopping and to get ready for a production called "Muskie Love."  Six actors entertained us with hokey humor and wonderful music.  Very good!!

Tomorrow's another day with old friends!  Yep, this is Joneane entertaining us!

Hi from Baileys Harbor

We left the 'loo at 9:15 and pulled into our campground around 6:00.  The office was closed and we didn't know what site we were supposed to have.  Finally after several tries we got in touch with the manager and he told us to just go to a pull through site and park...we'd worry about it tomorrow.  So we did!  Our next door neighbors are Hawk fans - grrrr.  After we got set up, which takes close to an hour, we took off to see the Girls of 66.  They are on a dark narrow road...can we say "boonies"!!  Fun times, though.

When we were driving up here, we stopped about 2:15 to see Pastor David & Liz!  We stayed longer than we had planned, but we were enjoying our conversation so we just kept on talking!  We could have been here by 4:00 if we hadn't stopped!  It's a pretty drive.  I'll be anxious to see where the "girls" are staying in the daytime!

Praise God

Every Sunday we sing, "Praise God from whom all blessings flow."  Today my family is praising God because Oaklyn is well enough to be home!  She and her sister, Rowyn, were playing and enjoying each other!  Rowyn was so excited that she was squealing and waving her hands around - Oaklyn just watched her and smiled!  Rowyn kept grabbing at O's feeding tube - I think she'll need watching closely - she's quick!

Dave and I got our TDap vaccines today.  Tomorrow we've got eye appointments and Tuesday we leave for Door County.

Tonight we took pizza out to Bryan's.  Erin's due date is in 1 week.

Saturday

Artapalooza!  A first for us.  This is a juried show in downtown Cedar Falls.  Beautiful art - jewelry, paintings, clothing items, photography, pottery, etc.  Some were fantastic like - www.skeiscapes.com - all natural with  no artificial colors added!  Her photography was something I aspire to!  We met Linda downtown, found parking spaces, and walked from 9 until lunchtime.  Had lunch at Los Cabos - Dave and I even split a margarita!  Yum!

Came home, took a nap while Dave went to Bryan's.  Then watched the ISU-Iowa football game and now I'm watching the Cubs.  I'm about ready for bed, though so don't know if I'll watch the whole game!

Friday

Busy day for Dave and me.  Dave mowed at Bryan's and I had two meetings.  The first one was downstairs where our committee met with a decorator who gave us ideas on updating our lobby.  I thought her ideas were ok, but not fantastic.  I felt like she'd just thrown a design together at the last minute.  We're not going to use her any way...we're going to use her design, but we can find the furniture, flooring, etc. at a far better price elsewhere.

My second meeting was at First Methodist Church, but no one was there.  I must have misunderstood when my PEO group was going to practice initiation for our meeting next week.  After I came home, I realized that I wouldn't be at the meeting next week anyway.  I messed that up!

Thursday

This was a day of sad news...I sure hope it's over!  My high school friend lost her husband yesterday from a massive stroke.  They got married right after graduation in 1966.  It's sad to think that our husbands are passing at this age.  Some others passed way too early!

I found out that another HS friend was moving from Iowa back to Minneapolis and she'll spend her winters in Arizona where her daughter is.  I'm happy for her!  She lost her husband several years ago now.

I heard fun news, though.  Since Oaklyn will still be in the hospital on Saturday, her mommy has her Cyclone outfit ready for her to wear.  You see, she's at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and Iowa State plays there on Saturday.  She and her mommy and daddy will be cheering for the Cyclones...as will we!!

Weds.

We had a handyman come this morning at 8:00 so we're both sitting here watching the Cubs and yawning.  The handyman re-grouted the tile in our master shower.  We've not been able to use that shower for about 10 days.  I'll be glad to get back in there probably tomorrow.  Dave wants it to set for 24 hours.

I went to WW this afternoon.  I lost another .6 of a pound...total 46.8 pounds down!  I was worried about this week after having been in Ottumwa and having a canteen and a tenderloin and a shake!!  Whew!!

Good news.  Oaklyn is supposed to be discharged on Sunday if everything stays the way it is now.  She's cutting teeth - 4 of them!  Her reflux is better...they've changed her formula.  She's eating some baby food, but most of her food comes from her GI tube.  I'm wondering who's going to watch her now  that Kaylee is in Holland.  Hmmm...

Tuesday

I don't have much to say tonight.  Actually I've got  lots to say, but I won't say it.  I tend to get angry and then hold onto my anger for a while.  It has nothing to do with Dave or any of you reading this.  Just know that someday I might tell you, but for now I'll just hold onto my grudge!!

We sat out on the balcony this evening.  We had 5 hummingbirds zipping around us the whole time we were out there.  One little male was being a bully!

Happy Labor(less) Day!

I've always called today Labor(less) Day because when we were working, we didn't work on Labor Day - thus it was Laborless Day!  It rained much of the day here.  We are saturated and flooding.  Several tornados around east-central Iowa this afternoon.  We missed most of that, but it's lightning out now so who knows.  I'm already in my jammies, so I hope we don't have to go to the basement!

Home Again!

We got home about 5:00.  We drove through sprinkles, but skirted the big rain.  When we got close to home,  we could tell they'd had a bunch of rain.  Creeks were out everywhere!

It was sure good to see our First Presbyterian Church friends this morning,  The problem is that we don't get enough time to visit!

Saturday

Rain, rain, and more rain.  It rained here most of the night AND this morning.  Now it's raining again!  Severe thunderstorms around us.  Some lightning here, but the radar doesn't look bad.  I hope that we can get out tomorrow!!

Today was a day for a nap, and a small shake from Grahams.  This evening we went with Bob, Ann, Barb, and Gary to the Country Club for dinner.  We were planning to watch the Cyclone game, but it's been on weather delay since about 7:30.  Lightning in the area.  So I'm going to bed soon.  I'll find out what happened in the morning!
