I'M TIRED!!

I'm telling you, I'm sure glad these Girls of '66 trips are only once a year.  I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck!  I think I had 8 hours of sleep last night and it still wasn't enough.  I tried two different times today to take a nap, but the phone wouldn't let

me!  So I finally gave up.

I got all the pictures uploaded to Facebook and now I've got to get some out to the girls who aren't on FB.  I think I'll upload them to Snapfish and share them that way.  That saves me the hassle of having to resize all of them.  I hope to get that done tomorrow...I've also got a huge order for SU I've got to get in before 11:00 and a lot of things to do before we leave for Florida.
This is the whole group of us - 26 in all!

This is a picture of the girls from Libertyville.  Joneane and I (Joneane is in leopard print) have known each other for 60 years...hard to believe!

Tonight we had the Indian Hills Retirees' dinner.  It was good to see old friends again.  As usual, the food was outstanding!

I'm going to bed - more later...

I think I'm ready!

I sure hope I can sleep tonight.  Tomorrow a bunch of the Girls of '66 leave for Branson.  We're coming from as far away as California and Florida.  I think there are 27 or 28 of us going.  Should be lots of laughs!  Probably a little wine-drinking, too!  I have packed my camera, so expect to see some pictures when I return.

In the meantime, I won't be blogging because I'm not taking my computer.

Beautiful scenery!

Our friends are touring Austria, Germany, and Switzerland right now.  She took this beautiful picture of a Swiss village in the valley.  Isn't it beautiful?  I just had to borrow it for a while.  It's so peaceful looking!  I needed something peaceful.  I've been repeating the Golden Rule for the last couple of days, trying to remember how to treat everyone.  So between God's word and this peaceful scenery, I'm hoping to get back to a great place in my heart!

I've been filing and doing paperwork so that we'll be ready to leave for Florida in about 20 days.  But first I've got to find my suitcase for the trip to Branson with the Girls of '66.  Should be a fun time!!

Monday at home

Well, today we experienced a "first"!  This is the first time in BRT that we've ever read an entire chapter!  John 18 was an easy chapter to read and to analyze, so we got through the entire thing.  It was about Jesus' trial (or so-called trial)...more like kangaroo court!

When I got home from BRT, I fixed my lunch and sat here watching my little hummingbirds.  I was able to get some good pictures today!!  They were very active!

I took these pictures with my Nikon thru the screen!  Speaking of hummers, there's one on the feeder right now.  This one is fatter than the one in the pictures!!

Sunny Sunday

Another absolutely gorgeous day in SE Iowa!  It hit 73 and that's about perfect - no humidity and a little breeze!  We went to church where Pastor David gave a very inspired (and inspiring) sermon from Acts 2:37 to the end of the chapter.  I didn't get to sing in choir today.  About midnight I started sneezing and I'm still doing it this evening - even after taking an allergy pill.  It was great listening to the choir doing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."  Sometimes I wonder why I am in choir when I truly enjoy listening to them from my pew!

This afternoon, we took the '56 and Craig & Sue took their '66 Chevelle to Albia for the last hot fudge sundae before we leave.  The sundae was wonderful, as was the drive AND the company!

I finally got some cards uploaded today.  So here are pictures of the other two cards we made last Thursday night.  All products are from Stampin' Up, of course!

I really, really like this Christmas card.  It is made with the Daydream Medallion stamp set and the floral frame framelits.  Then I cut a circle out of both layers and added a sentiment in the middle.  This card is very striking in person.
This is the card that Juliene demo'd.  It is using the owl punch - both the owl and the ghost are cut with the owl punch.  I think this is a cool card that the grandchildren will like.

Beautiful fall day!

I thought this was an absolutely beautiful fall day!  Dave got the mower out before he went to Habitat, so about 1:00 or so, I mowed the yard.  It was gorgeous out there mowing!  I'm sort of sneezy tonight, though.  It was pretty dusty out there!  The grass wasn't very long, except in spots.  So it was hard to tell where I'd been in places!  But I got it done and I also mowed the neighbor's front yard.  When Dave got home, he mowed their back yard and around the house.

I also played in my studio today and got several cards completed.  I thought I'd get some cards scanned into the computer today, but I didn't.  I'll try to get that done tomorrow.  After church tomorrow, I think Dave and I are going to take the '56 for a drive.  Hope so, anyway!!

Friday already

One thing about being busy - time flies.  I can't believe that it's Friday already!  Where did this week go?  I had PEO this morning, just across the street.  We had a great meeting.  We initiated Liz into our sisterhood - she will be a wonderful addition to our chapter.  There were 27 regular members, 1 guest, and Liz - 29!!  Our guest speaker talked about getting healthy.  I sure wish I had some motivation!  She told me to come to the Y and join the Silver Sneakers group which she leads.  It would be fun, but I'm leaving for points south soon...maybe I'll do that in the spring when I return!

We had about 1/2 an inch of rain last night.  Sure could have used more, but I'm not complaining.  Every little bit is appreciated!

Loving the rain!

Today it was hotter here than in Florida - again!  But this evening, a huge front blew through and cooled things down.  Plus it's RAINING!!  I hope it rains all night!  We're so far behind, we still wouldn't catch up!

Today was a fun day.  I played 7s from Hell with Ann, Juliene and 3 other ladies.  Unfortunately our team got beat by 135 points!  Pretty close game though!  We've taught several people how to play 7s so hopefully they'll continue to play over the winter and we can play all next summer!

Tonight we had a card class - 10 ladies.  We didn't get done until later tonight.  For some reason the cards took more time than past classes.  They were pretty cards!  This is one of them.  All products are from Stampin' Up, of course!  These two cards are made from Daydream Medallions and the coordinating floral framelits.  They may be my favorite set of all time!  The Christmas card we made is also using these sets, but I don't have a picture of it I guess.

This is just another example of the way you can use the framelits!  Love them!

Hot again!

Our weather is a little confused!  Today it was 89 - hotter here than either Ft Lauderdale or Largo!  Muggy, too!  In fact, our air conditioning got turned on again tonight when I got home from choir practice.

I had a nail appointment today and it's really a good thing.  Just as I was finishing getting dressed I tore my thumb nail clear off about 1/4 of the way into the quick.  So I had Rita cut it off as best she could - it'll grow back and hopefully stop being sore in a couple of days!

Tonight we met Bob, Ann, and Kyle's wife, Cassie, at the Recovery Room for supper.  Sam S. was there and we hadn't seen him since he had his heart transplant.  He played golf today for the first time since his surgery.  He's one lucky man - 9 heart attacks and  2 years of being on a heart pump, and now 2 months after having a heart transplant he's out playing golf.  Wow!

Choir practice was good tonight.  The choir is singing some cool songs this year.  Hopefully we can get thru the one Sunday without a screw-up.  It's a spiritual version of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee"  and it's really beautiful!  Hard, but beautiful!!

Chilly Day

It was chilly here today.  I about froze on the first floor of our house, so I tried not to spend much time down here today.  I worked on my card stuff for Thursday night for a long time today.  Then around noon, I came downstairs and got my lunch.  I haad some typing to do for The Ranch, so I got that done and sent off.

At lunchtime while I was sitting at my computer, the hummingbirds were numerous today.  They're getting so fat and because it's chilly outside, they just sit and rest...all fluffed up!

There'd be one eating and one sitting - one eating and one sitting.  They were funny today!!

I also got my hair cut this afternoon - yay!  I was getting very shaggy!

Monday

This morning when I awakened, I had my head under the covers because I had windows open and had a bit of a cross breeze!  It didn't take me long to close windows!!  It's feeling like fall!!  I'm not ready to give up my shorts yet though!

Bible Reading Time was good - there were 10 of us again.  We finally are in John 18 which deals with Jesus' arrest prior to his Crucifixion.  Should be some interesting discussions!

This afternoon I had both Evangelism and Personnel meetings and I didn't get home until 7:45!  Dave had put the meat in the oven and even fixed us a baked potato.  He's such a keeper!!

Rain finally!

Woke up this morning to rain!!  Yay!  We didn't get much, but it rained a lot of the morning.  Just so nice to have rain.  Church this morning was good as usual.  It was praise band Sunday, which doesn't thrill me much, but at least they played songs that were easy to learn.  Our church just doesn't care for the praise band, and I must say, we neither one care for it either.  I don't mind the music, I just don't like to sing the same words over and over and over again.

This afternoon, our pastor's wife and some of the ladies of the church had a baby shower for Candice H who is having twins in December.  She got some nice gifts - lots of diapers and wipes.  Each outfit seemed to be cuter than the last!  She's having both a boy and a girl, so it was fun to shop for the babies.  Little boys' clothes are so much cuter than they used to be!  This was an outside shower and wouldn't you know, it started raining again.  So we picked up packages and moved inside!  Fun time!

This evening, started watching the race at 9:00 PM.  It actually started at 1:00 this afternoon, but we red-flagged because of rain for several hours.  At 9:30 they said they were halfway done, so now if it rains it'll be shortened instead of postponed.  I don't know if I can wait for 96 more laps, though.  I've got a really, really busy week this week, so I've got to get my rest when I can!

Saturday

It was a beautiful fall day, perfect for some football.  Too bad my Cyclones forgot to show up until the 4th quarter!  At least the score wasn't so bad...not nearly as bad as the game was.  Pretty pathetic.  It was like we were playing too tentatively.  It was boring!

The rest of the day was good, though!  I got to open the windows this afternoon.  It was a little chilly this morning.  I was glad to have on a long-sleeved shirt!!

Friday Already?

I can't believe that it's Friday already!  It seems to me that this week just started and here it's already done!  I don't know how I had time to work.  I also don't know how I could ever make it up in time to go to work!!  Since I've been retired, I don't get going very early...except in Florida where everything starts at 9 AM!  Then I HAVE to get up and get going!

Today I worked on cards and made some cool ones.  Unfortunately the pix of those cards are on  my desktop and I'm typing this on my laptop, so no pix tonight!

It was another gorgeous day in the 'hood!  Perfect football weather!  Great sleeping weather, too!  This would be perfect for camping.  Cool evenings with a campfire!

I had one little hummingbird visiting today that was so fat.  I should have taken a picture of him/her.  He had what appeared to be a "beer belly" and he was eating more.  He must be getting ready for his long flight south!  The feeders have been very active!

Thursday

Oh my, what a glorious day!!  It was absolutely beautiful weather here!!  My kind of day - windows open and no humidity!!

Juliene and I met this morning and finalized what cards we're doing this month...now I've got to start stamping and cutting things out..  Can't wait for the ladies to see these cards - they're going to love them!  I also ran to Penneys and bought baby shower gifts for a lady in our church who is having twins (boy and girl)!  I'm so happy for them.  They miscarried about a year ago and now she's getting quite bit with these little ones!

I had a ball today watching my little hummers.  They were flitting about and didn't want any other hummers near the feeder.  All I could hear from my window was the buzzing of their wings and little chirps when another hummer came near!  They were just too fun!!

Wednesday

This is supposed to be the last hot/humid day for a while - I sure hope so.  We got a little bit of rain today.  Not much, but maybe .2!  Libertyville got 1/2 inch so maybe some of the crops got more than we did in town!  We're not complaining, just so thankful for any rain we get!

Dave did some more honey-do's today.  He even power washed the windows on the house.  It's been so hot and humid that there's green stuff growing around the window frames!  I cleaned up my craft studio and think I'm ready to start working on cards for our class next week!

Choir practice was good tonight.  We're singing some jazzy songs this year!  Hard rhythms but cool when we figure them out!

Tuesday

It was another really hot day, although it didn't seem as bad today because it was windy!  I didn't have too much to do today, so I got some paperwork done and I even made a really cool card!  Dave went to work but came home in time to eat his lunch with me, so that was nice.

This afternoon Dave washed both the car and the pickup - he's trying to make it rain.  Sure hope it works!  I had a church meeting this afternoon and then I went to vote in the school board election.  Other than that, I read a bunch today!

Two Days of Blogging in One!

Yesterday evening something happened with Mediacom; therefore our internet was down for a long time.  This evening it is working most of the time.  I have, however, lost lives in my games because it went down during a game.  I think it's just too darn hot for the internet!!

Speaking of hot.  Here's what my car said on my way back to O-town this afternoon:

That's a little too warm for September!!

The reason I went to Fairfield today was to see some of my high school classmates.  Dick H (middle sitting) was back from Europe where he lives so some of us got to have lunch with him!  Great to see classmates we don't see often.  He told me a good story about him having Bob (my brother) for a teacher!

Dave didn't work today - he stayed home and did some things on HIS honey-do list.  He makes lists, I don't usually!  He's going back to work tomorrow!  He put up a second hummingbird feeder.  All of a sudden we have a bunch of hummers and they are ornery and don't want to share their food!  Maybe they're just hot and cranky!

Wild Race

Another hot, hot day!  I saw 94 degrees at one time.  When I came home from Fairfield, my car said it was 94 but I think it must read hotter than it is...because the computer said it was only 91 when I got home.  I had to go back to the Clinic this morning to pick up a test kit, so I had lunch with Sudi and got to see HB and Missy, too.  It was a great day for a drive!

Tonight I've been watching the race at Richmond...I hate short track racing.  Jeff ended up 8th, and missed the chase by 1 point...I'm bummed.  Can't believe it!  He was in the chase and with 3 laps to go, Bowyer spun out which brought out the caution.  After pitting, he came out in a bad position and got behind slow cars.  At the end, Jeff just ran out of time and couldn't pass Truax.  I'm really, really bummed!!

I hope I can sleep tonight.  I'm a little anxious about playing bells at church tomorrow.

Friday

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood!  We were still hotter than Florida, although with the humidity Florida FELT hotter!  I had a fun day, after I got going!

I went to church this morning to practice bells with two other ringers.  We felt pretty good about our ringing when we were done practicing!  Hopefully we'll do well on Sunday!

Finally I got to talk to the doctor's office this morning.  It seems that I'm anemic - explains why I'm so tired and why I barely had a high enough hemoglobin reading to give blood last week.  Mine was 12.5 and you must be at 12.5 in order to give blood.  I have to take some iron pills and then do a couple more tests before I leave for the winter - yuck!

After lunch, I went to the Club to play cards with Ann, Juliene, and Penny.  Juliene and I won by 10 points.  I've never played where the score was that close!!

Thursday

All of these beautiful warm days are spoiling us.  When it starts to turn cool, we're going to be complaining!  I can just hear it now!!  Here it is September 5th and we're still in the 90's with lows around 70...certainly not September weather in Iowa!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning in Fairfield bright and early.  I got there with about 5 minutes to spare and within a couple of minutes I was called back to a room, had my vitals taken, and started deleting emails from my phone.  Dr. Hill came in right away.  I think it's nice to have the first appointment of the day.  Usually doctors are on time for their first appointments!  They drew some blood and Dr Hill told me no news was good news...unfortunately they called me this afternoon.  I was busy working in the Food Pantry at our church so I missed the call.  I sure hope there's nothing wrong...I didn't fast, though, so my blood was probably all messed up.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Food Pantry was really busy this afternoon.  I'm sure we set another record for participants.  Last month we set a record with around 140 families served.  I saw #147 today, so I'm sure we had a record number again today!

Air's back on!

It got a lot muggier today, so this afternoon I turned the air back on!  It's supposed to be in the 90's again for the next 4-5 days with no rain in sight!  We really, really need rain!!

This was a busy day for me.  I had a massage followed by getting our meds in order for the next month.  Then I put away the clean dishes and by the time I'd done that, it was time for bells practice.  We play in church Sunday - oh my!  I hope we do okay!  After bells I came back home and we had BLTs, then it was off to choir practice.  We practiced about 11 songs.  You use lots of oxygen when you sing for an hour straight, so now I'm really tired!

Tomorrow starts really early for me.  I have a doctor's appointment at 8:30 AM!  Usually I'm not even up and about that early!!

Fun Day

I had a fun day today.  Dave went to work this morning, as usual, and I finished the 3rd book in the Bellingwood series by Diane Greenwood Muir.  It's a fun series set in a fictional town of Bellingwood, Iowa, on Hwy 17 between Ames and Boone.  They're all easy reading...just fun to read.  The heroine is very likable and believable, and makes you feel exactly what she's going through!  The 4th book is supposed to out this fall - October, I think.  I can hardly wait!

I also worked on our financial reports because we had a meeting with our adviser, and I got Dave to take all of the old paperwork to the bank for shredding!!  Yay!  Then this evening I had sorority where I had to do a program on "You Light Up My Life".  I chose our Florida home as something that lights up our lives - we love it there!

Oh, I almost forgot - I even got to watch hummers today.  The windows were open and the feeder was very busy!!

It was a great day!!

Happy Labor Day

Labor Day is NOT a day for working - so we didn't!!  We even slept in this morning!  Dave actually slept until 7:00 which is entirely unheard of in Iowa!  When he's down South he can sleep that late, but not up here.  This morning was a lazy one - just took our time getting ready for the day.  I read and hated to put my book down, but I finally made myself.

We went to see Sudi & Howard - we hadn't seen them for a long time.  It was good to get together.  Plus we had a good lunch!  Unfortunately the ice cream machine was out of order...but that was the only downer of the day!

We came back to O-town and took a bike ride.  It was hotter riding our bikes than it seemed to be just sitting outside!  Oh, maybe that's because I'm so out of shape!  I made it up all of the hills without stopping, getting off, and pushing my bike up the hill!  That's an accomplishment in itself.

This evening, we've just been hanging out!  I loved having Dave at home today!  This week is a really busy one for me.  I have at least one thing every day - some days 2 things and one day I've got 3 different things!

Yay!

We're home!  Safely!!  It's going to feel good to sleep in our own bed tonight!  I've already taken a nap there, but I'm ready for a long sleep!

We got home about 2:15 or so, unloaded the car.  I took an allergy pill, which made me fall asleep, and Dave went to get some groceries!  Now Dave's asleep in his chair and I'm watching the race.  I wasn't happy about who won the race, but it was a pretty good race!

We had a great time in Indiana.  The family get-together was lots of fun.  I think there were 31 of us there.  Good food, good fellowship and some great pictures which I'll try to upload tomorrow.  Right now I'm going to bed!!
