Monday

Bible reading time was great this morning.  Lots of lively discussion on the last 10 verses  of Revelation 6.  The tribulation makes you doubt your own salvation.

Dave didn't work today because of all the rain this weekend.  Now he probably should go to work tomorrow, but we have another showing tomorrow afternoon so he'll stay home and help me get the house ready.  Since Cathy was just here Friday, the house looks pretty good...we'll just have a few things to do.

Sunday

What a fun morning we had at church!  Pastor David explained about the communication with have with God and with each other in a typical church service.  We also had a patriotic medley by Mark Hanson and his friend from Waterloo, Joel Harris.  It was fantabulous!!  They harmonize so well!  Then at the end of the service, Joel played Amazing Grace on his bagpipes.  Wow!

Dave had a workshop this afternoon at church, so I took a nap!  It was a great nap, too.  I didn't want to get up at all.

Des Moines

Juliene, Bev and I went to a stamp camp in DSM this morning.  Unfortunately we had to leave at 7:15 in order to be on time, but it was worth it.  We made 6 really cool cards and 2 box things.  I'm not a fan of the box thingies, but the cards were wonderful.  We got done about 10:30 and were on our way home by 11:00.  We stopped in Monroe for ice cream, but it wasn't open - doesn't open until noon.  What's up with that?  Nobody eats ice cream before noon????

Dave got home about 6:30 or so.  He stopped at Courtside and got us sandwiches before he came home.  He got inside just in time for more rain.  We've probably had close to a half an inch.  No severe storms at least AND we neither one had to drive in bad rain.  Dave got into a little rain, but not much.  He skirted most of it.

So now I'm watching the race while Dave sleeps in his chair.  Just 12 laps to go, but I'm ready for bed, so I hope there aren't a lot of cautions in this last 12 laps.

Really late last night!

Yesterday we left here at 4:15 to go to Riverside for the semi-finals of the Y league softball for 12 & Under girls.  Allison's team was seeded #1 with the #2 seed being another Washington team.  #3 was a Wellman team and #4 was Ainsworth.  We played Ainsworth in the semis and beat them handily, while the other Washington team and Ainsworth were playing on another field. That was all at 6:00.  Then we played the finals at 8:00 against the other Washington team.  We were ahead going into the 5th inning 9-4.  They scored a couple more runs before we finally won the championship - yay!!  Allison came on in the 5th in relief and didn't pitch very well.  She finally settled down, though, and ended up getting the W.  Whew!

After the games, we decided we'd go eat someplace.  Have you ever tried to find a restaurant open at 10:15 on a Thursday night?  Surely the truck stop at Ainsworth would be open, right?  Wrong!  They were even closed.  We finally stopped at a BP on 218 and Dave got a sub, some chips, and we shared a pint of soft serve ice cream.  Great supper - popcorn at the ball park and ice cream at 10:30 or so.  We didn't get home until close to midnight and went straight to bed as we both had plans this morning.

Dave went to work and I had a card class that I was "leading".  I forgot that the cleaning lady was coming at 8:00 - I was still in bed when she arrived.  She worked downstairs while I got ready upstairs!  After lunch, Juliene & I went to the Lucky Rooster for lunch.  Then this afternoon I did laundry and went to Fareway for groceries.  Dave left for Waterloo and I'm here because I go to DSM tomorrow for another card camp.  Busy, busy, busy!  There's a pre-wedding party next door and boy has it been loud.  Now they're shooting off fireworks!

Too late & too tired!

We went to Allison's game last night and by the time we got home, I was too tired and ready to just go to bed.  Sorry.  Tomorrow night will be even later (hopefully).  They won last night to put them in the semi-finals on Thursday night.  Then if they win in the semis, they will play  in the finals right after...and the games are in Riverside!  That means a longer trip for us!

Today I slept in - yay!  I didn't even wake up until 8:44 and by the time I got around and came downstairs, it was almost 11:30.  So, I'm moving a little slowly today!  Maybe I'll do some jumping jacks or something to get my blood moving!  Ha!

Know nothing!

I know nothing!  Our house was shown today, but we didn't hear anything from Liz.  I hope that's a good thing.  I went to Bible reading time today.  Great morning.  We read about the Lamb breaking the seals on the scroll and about the horses of different colors.  Great symbolism.

Dave and I went out to the park behind Eisenhower School today while the realtor was here.  They have some baby ducks there - 11 of them to be exact.  Unfortunately there were a little far away, but hopefully I got some good pictures of them.

Sunday

We had a good day today.  Pastor David wasn't there today, though, so Becky did the sermon.  She talked about the first commandment and the second...to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.  She did a good job!

We went to Roe's with the Bunch for Lunch crew - there were 10 of us today.  I had an egg salad sandwich and a cup of soup.  Dave had the special, prime rib.  Then we came back here and got inside just as the first raindrops fell.  Boy did it rain!  We had 1.5" of rain - I figured there was more than that!  There were some really dark clouds associated with the storm, but not much thunder/lightning.

Dave worked on cleaning his truck - it's been a mess.  Tomorrow he's going to do my car.  Then we'll get the house spit-polished and leave here before our potential buyers arrive at 3:00.

Boring Saturday

I'll really be glad when Dave finally does retire...although I don't know why!!  When he is home, we just sit around or he does his thing and I do mine.  He left here relatively early this morning and I had to be gone before 11 so a realtor could show our house.  I came back by about 11:30 and the people were still here, so I drove around campus and by the time I got back around to Alta Vista they were gone.  Didn't hear anything, so don't know whether they liked it or not.  We've got another showing on Monday afternoon.  At least we're getting some activity now.

Brighter Day!

Things are starting to look up around here.  Not only do I feel better tonight, but I actually ate some real food today.  We had a canteen tonight for supper!!  Yay!  It really, really tasted good!

Another bright thing - our house is being shown tomorrow AND Monday, too.  Plus there was a guy in a white van who drove into the driveway really looking around.  Dave came home and mowed and I vacuumed and cleaned up in my craft room and my office.  Tomorrow morning we'll clean the bathrooms and the kitchen before Dave leaves for work and I leave while the "lookers" are here.

Still yuck

My nose is still running and I'm still sneezing - just not quite as much!  Thank God.  I actually had a pretty good day.  I ate my cereal for breakfast, although I let it soak  in the milk until the cereal was soft.  I even ate my banana.  For lunch I fixed myself 2 eggs scrambled in the microwave.  For dinner, I had a baked potato with ice cream for dessert.  Not too bad, I don't think.

About 2:00 the guys with our new mattress came to deliver it.  It was raining and blowing, so they sat in the truck for a couple of minutes before they brought it in.  A semi on Vanness is a problem for some people, especially since the Penn Ave detour is routing a lot of people our way.  It was funny to watch them!

We've got an appointment to show our house on Monday.  Hope everything works out.  Keep your fingers crossed for us.

No pain!!

Yay - I have no pain in my jaw where they pulled my tooth yesterday.  There's no swelling, so another yay!  My sneezing, however, is still with me.  You don't suppose I caught a cold, do you?  I can't even remember the last time I had a cold.  But, if this is what a cold feels like, I'm ready for it to go away!  I didn't eat much today - tomorrow I'm going to try some solid food.  Soft, but solid.  I think I'll fix myself a scrambled egg in the microwave and maybe even a baked potato.  I had a shake for supper, a little thing of applesauce and a pudding for lunch, and a half a shake for breakfast.  I'm a bit hungry tonight, but it's hard to eat when your nose is running.

Yuck!

Dave took me to Des Moines today to have my last wisdom tooth pulled.  I told Sudi & Howard yesterday that now that I was going to be dumb (with no wisdom teeth) I was going to get a bottle of hair bleach and become a blonde - a dumb blonde.  I doubt that I will, though.  The tooth came out a little harder than my last one, but I'm not in any pain so all is well.  The only problem is that when he numbed me, he hit my sinuses evidently because about 1/2 an hour after he was done, I started sneezing and I haven't stopped yet!  I thought it would clear up when the Novocaine wore off, but it didn't so I finally took an allergy pill.  I hope that stops it.  If it doesn't I'm going to need a nose bucket!!

Monday

I slept in this morning - for some reason I was really tired....maybe it was the trip to Indiana and back this weekend, sleeping on an awful bed, or 14+ hours in the car.  Regardless it felt good to sleep a while this morning.  I woke up about 7:45.  Dave called and wanted me to mow the yard, but it was still too wet this morning, so I waited until after lunch.

Lunch was nice.  Sudi & Howard were in town and it's always good to see them.  I felt like I hadn't seen them in a long time!  We ate at Bubba-Q's - good food with good friends!

It was really hot and humid today.  It was hotter here than in Ft Lauderdale!  By the time I got the lawn mowed, I was completely drenched.  I walked in the house and about froze!  It didn't take too long for me to cool down, though.

Now I'm sitting here while Dave is sleeping in his chair.

Sunday??

I have a hard time thinking this is Sunday because we didn't go to church.  We did, however, listen to Ernie Haase and the Signature Sound Quartet and the Enlighten channel on XM radio for a lot of miles today.  I hate not going to church.  I just don't feel like my weekend is complete without church.

We had a good weekend.  We got there about 5:15 on Friday and went out to eat with Don, Bev, and Maury.  Roberta was at a VBS program that her great-grandchildren were in.  We decided to go to Pizza Hut since Bev was on her dinner break and didn't have a lot of time.  Much to our surprise, in Pizza Hut were Dave's Aunt Carol, her son Joe and his wife Becky, as well as her daughter Nancy and her husband, her daughter & husband and their son.  So we had a mini family reunion right there.

Then Saturday we had the Shroyer-Frushour cuzzins reunion.  There were something like 40 adults and 7 little children.  It was a fun time!  The ages ranged from 96 to about 1 year!  After the party, we went back to Maury's for a short nap and then we went over to Nancy & Charlie's and sat around the fire outside.  That was really fun because we were able to talk without having to shout at each other.  The bonfire was great, too.

We left to come home early this morning - 7:00 our time.  We had a good, uneventful trip home with good weather!

Uneventful Friday

Dave went to work this morning and I was lazy!  I didn't even take my shower until around 11:00.  I woke up around 7:15, ate my breakfast, and just hung out upstairs until about lunch time.  I worked in my craft studio putting away some of the supplies I had out last night for our class.

I told you we made some cool cards last night, and we did.  Here is one I demo'd..  I love this card because it's entirely done freestyle.  Each time you do one, it looks different.  To me it looks a little like a famous artist painted it.  Anyway, it's entirely done using Stampin' Up products.  The inks are Blushing Bride, Hello Honey, and Pistachio Pudding and the stamp set is Work of Art.  Everyone had fun with this card.  I was a little concerned that some of the ladies would be too stressed to make it fun, but it didn't turn out that way at all!

Tomorrow we're leaving early for Indiana, so I may not be on here until Sunday.  I don't think I'll take my computer with me.  We plan to be back Sunday late afternoon.

Wednesday

Last night Bob, Ann & I went to Ainsworth to watch Allison play ball.  She had an 8:00 game, so we didn't leave until 6:30.  We had drizzle and rain all the way up there and unfortunately it didn't stop during the game until the last inning.  We won, but we were all cold and wet - not much fun!  Allison pitched well and we were ahead by 10 points, but she'd pitched her limit of 4 innings so Hailey pitched the next two innings.  We still ended up winning by 9 points!  Unfortunately though, they scored on us after Hailey started pitching.  We didn't get home until about 10:45 and it took me a while to get warm again.

Today I had a massage which felt really, really good.  Then tonight I had a card class.  We had 13 at our class, so we were busy.  We made some cool cards and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Monday

I had Bible Reading Time this morning and it was wonderful.  We worked on Revelation 4.  The symbolism in Revelation is something.  It sure makes you think!  I looked up the artwork that resulted in interpretations of this chapter.  There's a lot of interpretations!!  Very interesting.

This afternoon I worked on cutting out my cards for Wednesday night's class.  I think I got everything cut out, so tomorrow I'll get it all organized.

Sunday

This was a wonderful day.  I had two firsts:  I got to meet my great, great nephew, Blaise Benning AND I got to see an Indigo Bunting, which I've only seen in pictures.  I was impressed by both of them, but especially little Baby B!  He's such a cutie!

Our open house is over and we had a great trip to Waverly and back.  The day was a success!

Saturday

I'm glad we're going to church tomorrow because I'm confused about what day it is.  Dave worked this morning, at least until it started raining.  I went to a funeral in Douds.  I went the long way there and I was almost late.  About half way through the funeral, the rain hit...and boy, did it hit!  When the funeral was over, the family and those who were going to the cemetery stayed for a while, but several of us left.  I got pretty wet just getting to the car.  I was glad I had gone though.  The family was happy to see me.  I grew up with their boys, even though they lived in Selma and we lived in Libertyville.  Ron is older than me by a year and Duane is 1-2 years younger than me.  Then they had another son that is several years younger.  We always had a Christmas with the Sprouses...one of 5 Christmases we had when I was a kid.  We had Santa Claus Christmas, the Allison Christmas, the Peebler Christmas, the Burke Christmas and the Sprouse Christmas.  Mostly it was just getting together with "family" even though they weren't technically family!

This afternoon, we took naps and this evening we went to Tasty Burrito for supper.  They are really, really good burritos!!

Friday

I had a good day today.  I worked on finishing up some loose ends I've had around here.  I got the bank accounts all reconciled.  Dave came home just long enough to help take our old paperwork to Financial Partners where they had a shredding party today...and we had a free hotdog for lunch, too!  Then he went back to work and I worked on some of the cards I had only half finished and I got some ideas for next week's cards.  I also made a card for Kyle's little guy, Blaise - my great, great nephew!  Here is his card:

Isn't it cute?  This is made from all SU products.  The paper is shades of Lost Lagoon, one of the new colors, as well as Hello Honey.  I stamped in those two colors and "cut" the onsie, duck, and banner out with framelits.  I love the fact that SU is making framelits (or dies) to go with lots of their stamps.  Since I shake so badly, I just can't cut things out...but I can put the framelit on my magnetic board and run it thru the Big Shot with no problem!  I love this card!

Thursday already??

I can't believe that it's Thursday already!!  Dave woke me up at 6:45 this morning!  Needless to say, I wasn't very happy with him.  It's not that I don't want to tell him to have a good day, but I just don't want to tell him that at 6:45!  I can call him when I wake up!  He keeps talking about going down to Florida and that tomorrow we could be at the Legion by the water.  I think he really misses it!  Maybe he truly is ready to retire for good!

I didn't do much today.  I had a headache this afternoon, so I went upstairs to lie down for a bit.  That helped, but I didn't take a nap and I should have.  I still haven't caught up from Tuesday!  My headache was bad enough that I didn't even want to go watch Allison play ball tonight.

Now Dave's sleeping in his chair and I'm just waiting for the clock to say 10 before I go up to bed - how boring is that!?!

I have to get up early again tomorrow because my cleaning lady will be here at 8:00.  Since we've got an open house on Sunday, we wanted her to do a thorough job of cleaning tomorrow.  I've already told Dave he's to take his shoes off before he comes in the door tomorrow night!

Wednesday

We had a long, boring day at the Advanced Tech building on the IHCC campus yesterday.  We had to be there at 6 AM and didn't get out of there until 9:15 PM!!  Then we had to take the ballots down to the courthouse and get things out of the car in the pouring rain, get on the elevator and return everything to the auditor's office.   That's a long day!  We only had 68 voters.  There are over 500 registered voters in the Dahlonega Township, but only 68 voted in yesterday's primary - not a very good percentage!  Thank goodness we took things to do and thank goodness Mary Lou and Jim are talkers, or I'd have been asleep somewhere around 3:00 PM!  As it was, only Jim took a little nap in his chair - and it was just a little nap, because there were lots of students roaming around.  That is over now until next year because I won't be here for the November election so I won't get to work it.

Dave told Golden Furrow people that he was done working after this summer.  He's planning to take his social security and retire once and for all - woohoo!  He's  sore and tired from working this summer.  He has been asleep in his chair since about 7 tonight!

I even took a nap today.  I was just too tired to stay awake any longer.  Unfortunately the phone rang twice, once just 10 minutes after I put my book down....grrrrr!  I finally got up and did some paperwork (which I still didn't get all the way through).  I guess there's always tomorrow!

I don't like Mediacom!!

Mediacom sure does have problems.  Many times I've wished that we hadn't changed to them for our internet service.  Every 2 or 3 minutes, you can't get a signal.  They're talking about increasing our speed, but first they need to increase their reliability.  It's very aggravating to be doing something and then lose your connection.

Tomorrow I work the election so I won't be on here unless I decide to take my computer.  We'll see!
