Thursday

Didn't do too much today.  We went to Lowes for some supplies...the guys are going to start our backsplash soon.  I don't know when exactly, but Dave has sanded the wall and Bob and he have laid out exactly how they're going to do it, so now I just wait.

I did get my walk in today and it was actually pretty warm walking.  I had a light jacket on but I could have done it without.  The only time it was chilly is when I was headed north!  Tomorrow is supposed to be nice - yay!!

Wwdnesday

Another cold day!  Nothing like in Waterloo, though.  It was a chill factor of -47 today.  That's cold.  Right now it's -22 and feels like -22!  I guess I'm glad I'm here!!

I was able to get my walk in this afternoon.  The sun was shining, so I warmed up while I was walking.  Tonight the wind is blowing so it feels a lot colder than it is.

Tuesday

Another day of B&B, only I didn't do the first B.  I went to get my first prolia shot.  I was taking a pill every week...not I have a shot every 6 months.  Hopefully I'll get along well with the new medicine.  After bowling, we went to Cheddars for lunch.

This afternoon, Dave and Bob worked on trimming out both of our bathrooms with new trim.  I worked on cleaning out some paperwork for the Board.  Tonight was bingo where I won the first game, but nothing else.  I was waiting for one number to be called many of the games, but they didn't call my numbers.

Monday

I slept in this morning - that was nice!  I had a meeting at 1:00, so I didn't need to hurry around.  I did the year-end filing and even worked on 3 or 4 crossword puzzles.  The biggest news is that I didn't take a nap today. I got a walk in this afternoon. Even though I was very tired, I went to cards tonight.  There were 12 of us tonight, including 2 new ones!

Sunday

Pastor Jeremy did the sermon today.  It was about hope and trust and the "death" of Lazarus.  Very good.  Church was sparsely populated.  I guess it was too cold and rainy for a lot of people.

This afternoon, Ann, Barb, and I went to a play at West Coast Players, "Bingo, the Winning Musical".  It was very entertaining and a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Saturday

Went to class #3 in Beginning Photography this morning.  Today was about ISO and the Exposure Triangle.  ISO was pretty technical, but I really liked the exposure part.  Next week is #4.  I may take the Intermediate classes, too.  We'll see.

When I got home Dave helped me make soup for tonight's soup & sandwich night.  I made a very good soup - Chicken Salsa White Bean Soup.  My brother told me twice that my soup was really good!  We had about 16 different soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches, plus desserts.  I think there were around 60 people there.  Fun night!

Now I'm watching the Indian Hills game on the computer.

Today was different!

I was a little confused.  I thought it was Saturday since I didn't have radiation!  Then when I figured out that it was Friday, I remembered that Dave had an appointment with the eye doctor at Largo Diagnostic Clinic to talk about his cataracts.  So now we've switched to Dave doctoring.  His surgeries are scheduled for Feb 19th and 26th.  Unfortunately he also has 3-4 other doctor appointments for pre-op stuff.  Goody-goody!

I about froze this evening.  I'm sitting here all bundled up in my blanket!!

Radiation Treatments Are Over!!

Thank the Lord!  When the people at Florida Cancer Specialists said good bye to me today, they said they would love to see me again...but hoped I'd never have to set foot in the radiation room again!  Everyone there was so nice to us.  I would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking treatment.

My friend, Chris Wohlers Evans, lent me the shirt, which was a huge hit at the cancer center.  Plus, as a way of celebrating, I asked Dave to take me to Chicken Salad Chick for lunch.  The manager was doing the greeting and she asked about my shirt.  I told her I'd just had my last radiation a few minutes ago and she bought our lunches!!  Love that place!

I also got a call from Ann about going out to eat this evening in celebration of my last day of radiation.  She, Bob, Gary, Barb, Dave and I went to Longhorn for dinner.  I even had a filet and a margarita!  Great day!

1 More

I got up this morning not wanting to go to radiation.  I don't know why - I was just tired of this whole thing!  I'm so ready for this to be done so my skin can heal!

After coffee this morning, I started pulling stuff out of some of the cupboards in the clubhouse kitchen.  I was sick of all the junk!!  I threw a bunch of stuff away...then this afternoon, three of us went through a 4-drawer cabinet that belongs to the board of directors.  Again a bunch of stuff went to the trash and I have two big totes in the back of my car with stuff to be shredded.

I played cards tonight - we had a new lady come to learn.  That was nice!

2 More

Today I was supposed to get a shot for osteopenia - instead of taking a pill every week, the shot will last 6 months.  Unfortunately, they didn't call to get authorization from our insurance company so the shot will not happen until next week.  My treatment went well.

I meet Dave and the bowlers at Peter's...one of our favorite little restaurants to eat at.  Their bacon and eggs are wonderful!

I got my walk in today and I even took a short nap.  Then bingo.  I won a couple of times - yay!

3 More

Had a doctor's appointment after my treatment today.  She gave me some new medicine for my burns.  Sure hope it works better than the last one.  She said it's the kind that burn victims use on their burns.  I wish it wasn't gross to show you all my breast...it's sporting some interesting colors!!

Now I'm watching the Cyclones play Kansas in Lawrence.

Sunday

Great service this morning...great music and a great sermon!!  After church, we made our weekly trip to Sam's Club.

After lunch at home, we both took naps and then I went for  a long walk!  Actually it wasn't a long walk...it was too cold!  I even had on long pants and a heavy sweatshirt and I was still cold.  But at least I walked!

Tonight I watched some football and now we're watching "Victoria" on PBS.

Saturday

Today I took a class about Shutter Speed.  Boy, did I learn a lot!  I can't wait to get a bit more energy so I can get out with my camera and practice some of the things we talked about the last two weeks!

I got a nice walk in today.  When I headed South, the wind tried to blow me back the way I came!  It is really strong.  It's supposed to be blowing in another cold front...drat!

Friday

Today's treatment was a challenge.  First of all, they were running late because of a new patient.  Then they took me back, only to tell me that I would need to wait a few more minutes for another patient. No problem.  When I finally got in there, they told me I would start "boosts" today and have boosts for the next 4 treatments after today.  For a boost, they increase the amount of radiation, but lessen the area of radiation from the whole breast to just the site of the cancer.  Ok...again no problem.  Unfortunately they didn't tell me that I would have to have the doc come approve what they were doing, so I ended up being on the table about an hour.  My shoulder was killing me!!

We had planned to meet Bob & Ann at the Legion for lunch.  Needless to say, we were very late.  The Legion was crowded today and a little chilly.  After we were there a while, the sun got some strength and it turned out to be a very nice day!

I was able to take a short nap and a short walk before cards tonight.

Thursday

I didn't get to sleep in again this morning.  The Board had a meeting at 9:00 with our Regional Manager.  We met our new Community Manager this morning.  I think we're really going to like her.  She has been with ELS for 3 years, so she already knows the ropes.  She's only part-time here, however.  The office gal will be here full-time now, so at least there's someone in the office at all times.  We had a very good meeting!!

I had to leave a few minutes early to get to my treatment.  Plus there was a wreck on E Bay, so I had to do a little detour.  I got there in plenty of time and I was next in line.  Down to 5 more treatments!!

When I got home the electrician was here doing the guest bedroom.  Thank goodness we're all done with him.  I guess the master bathroom still needs a GFS or something but they'll have to run that line under our home and Dave was too tired to do that today.  I have been so tired and it's pretty hard for me to rest when the electrician is here.  He makes too much noise!

Wednesday

Typical Wednesday - except it got all the way up to 55 degrees today!  Brrrr!!  My walk today was not a long one - it was just too cold!!

I now have only 6 more treatments left!!  Yay!  Good thing, too...I've got some damage to my skin going on so I'll be glad to get it over with!

Tuesday

I had to do lab work today, so I went a little early.  They took two little vials of blood and then I went to wait for my treatment.  I barely got sat down when I got called in.  I was out in the car by 11:05 and I wasn't even supposed to get in until 11:00.  I think I'll go early again tomorrow!

Lunch after bowling was at The Dugout.

The electrician was here again today - he was able to get both bathrooms rewired.  So now all he has left is the guest bedroom.  He talks to himself constantly so I wasn't able to take a nap today...grrr!  I even went to bingo tonight...and I'm still awake!

Today the little girls, Oaklyn and Rowyn are 1.  Oaklyn had a cardiac checkup and her heart's doing fine.  Unfortunately she is dehydrated because of a bit of a cold, so she was admitted to Iowa City again.  Hopefully it'll be a short stay.

Monday

This morning after my treatment I saw the doctor.  I have a pretty bad rash on my breastbone area that is a typical "burn" from radiation.  So I got a prescription for some cream that is supposed to help that.  Then I felt pretty well after my treatment so I decided to have a pedicure.  I really needed that!  When I got home, the guy was here washing our mobile home.  I was able to take my nap during the time he switched to wash Bob's place.  Dave said he came in twice while I was sleeping and I didn't hear him at all.  I had to force myself to get up and take a walk, but I got it done.

Sunday

Nothing new here today.  Went to church and to Sam's Club.  We came home, fixed bacon and eggs for our lunch.  Then I took a nap and a walk.  This afternoon I went over to talk to Bob about a "kid" who grew up in Libertyville.  This kid was 73 and just passed away.  Bob played basketball in high school with the kid's brother.  We got to talking about Bob's basketball games and these families.  Fun trip down memory lane.

Saturday

This morning was the first of four photography classes that I'm signed up for.  Today's class was all about aperture and aperture mode on the camera.  Very interesting and informative class.  I'm having a bit of difficulty wrapping my brain around all of the info.

Dave wanted to go to the water to eat, so we went to the Pub.  It was a beautiful day to sit outside.

We had the electrician here today again.  He got all of the outlets in the master bedroom finished.  He didn't get to the bathroom in there because when he was ready for it, I needed to rest.  I crashed!  I went to sleep almost immediately even with all of his noises!

9 more!

I'm beginning to see the end of my radiation treatments!  Only 9 more after today!  We lost another guy today - it was his last day!!

I walked all the way around the outside of the park today and I DIDN'T TAKE A NAP today!  I did rest but couldn't fall asleep!

Halfway!!

Today I am halfway through my radiation treatments!!  I only have 10 left!  One gentleman got finished with his today - he got to ring the bell and got a set of plastic clapper hands!  All of us in the waiting room cheered for him and wished him well!

Dave washed the roof of our mobile today, even though it was cold out.  I thought he was finished so I tried to take a nap only to be awakened by his tiny footsteps on the roof - 3 times!!!  No nap for me today.  I did take my walk when I got home from my treatment.  This evening I went to WW to weigh in - all is well!

Wednesday

After coffee this morning, we held our annual meeting.  I was elected to the Board for another 2 years.  Yippee!  Then I went to my treatment.  There were 2 students there today - so two more people have now seen my breast!

After my nap this afternoon, I took a long walk but I was still sleepy.  I chose not to play cards tonight.  I was just too tired!

Tuesday

Today was the first day that my treatment wasn't on time.  In fact, it was about 45 minutes late.  They had gotten behind early - took more time with one patient early in the morning.  I met up with the bowlers at Abe's Place for lunch!  Love the black beans and rice/blackened chicken!!  I've got enough for 3 more meals of leftovers!!

Naps this afternoon and then a walk!  Bingo wasn't so good - only won $4.  Therefore, I actually lost!

Monday

We had an HOA Board meeting this morning.  Before it was over I had to leave for my treatment, so I missed the last little bit of it.  My treatment was good and the doctor's appointment after was also good.  My BP was 106/66 and my weight was down .4!  Good day!  When I got home, I took my walk and then I ate lunch before my nap.

This evening I played cards.  Dave worked with Bob & Gary at Gary's place most of the day.  Of course, when they got done they had to have some drinks to celebrate,, so he didn't get home until about 5:00!

Sunday

Church was good again today.  Great music and always great sermon.  After church we went to Walmart for a few items and then home.  I went in to take a nap before I ate, even.  I got up about 2:00 and ate part of my salad.  Then this evening I fixed beef and noodles and mashed potatoes for Dave.  I also got my walk in this afternoon.  I walked kind of fast because I was a bit chilly without a jacket!

Saturday

Today we took a picnic lunch to Sawgrass Lake Park.  After lunch we walked the boardwalk to see if we could find any alligators or birds.  We saw a 4' alligator guarding his area from a large soft-shelled turtle.  Pretty cool!  You could see the alligator had an attitude of a 10' one - he just didn't have the jaws for a large turtle like that.

It was too cool and windy for many animals, but we had a good walk regardless!

Sleepy Day

After my treatment, we had errands to run.  Went to Lowe's and to Walmart.  I got a bunch of steps in, so I didn't take a walk this afternoon.  Besides which, I slept from about 1:30 to about 5:00.  I think the tiredness of this regimen has found me!  I am 1/3 of the way done with my treatments, though!!

Tonight I didn't even play cards.  I went up for a bowl of popcorn and then later we picked Bob & Ann up from the airport.  They are here safe and sound!

Thursday

I woke up really tired today.  Since it was Thursday, I got to just hang out before I ate my breakfast and got ready for the day.  That didn't help much.  When Dave got home from lawn crew, we went to the cancer center for my treatment.  Then we went to Sam's Club for a few groceries that we needed.  We got home about 12:30 and I went in to take a nap.  I got up about 2:30.  I did go out for my walk about 4:30.  I thought maybe I'd walked a bit too far because I wasn't sure I'd get back home...but I did.

Wednesday

I'm a little confused on what day it is.  Seemed like Jan 1 was a Sunday...therein lies the problem!  We didn't do much today.  After my treatment we went to the Tax Collection place to get Dave a fishing license.  Us and about 100 other people - we waited about 40 minutes before our number got called.  Not too bad, though.  We had both the salt water fishing rules and the fresh water fishing rules to look at while we waited.  Plus, people watching was a hoot!  So many people can't function without their phones stuck to their ears!  Also noticed all the tattoos!  Someone is making a ton of money!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wow - it's already 2019!!  It seems like it was just the other day that we were worrying about Y2K and here it is 19 years later!  Where does the time go?

Last night we went to the clubhouse for a while to enjoy time with our friends.  We didn't stay late - just until about 10:30. Nobody stuck around to see the new year in.  We're all lightweights!

Today we had a brunch sponsored by the Red Hatters.  There were 35 or so people there...free food!  We Red Hatters made things like egg casseroles and breads.  Delicious!  Mine was really good!  I'm sure others were good also, but most of them had sausage in them and mine didn't.  I made mine with ham instead.  It was all gone - no leftovers again.

Dave and I took a walk around the park today!
