R&R

Today was a day of R&R and I needed it.  Even Dave took it easy today. I didn't even play cards tonight.  Anita drew the short stick but she had gone home last time, so I changed with her.  I'll play again on Monday.

Thursday

It was a sad day today.  We had to say goodbye to Vicki, Allison, and Al - they had to go back to reality this afternoon.  It's been so nice having them here.

This afternoon we had a surprise visit from Sudi and Chris.  It was really nice to see them.

Tonight we played Jack's cards up at the clubhouse.  Fun game and no card experience needed.

Company's Coming

We had our house looking really good this morning, 'cause company's coming!  After coffee this morning, Dave's cousins, Nancy, Joe, and Mark, along with their spouses, came over to see us and to see Roberta who was here with her friends Merle and Velma.  We had a house full of people!  Fun times!

The cousins didn't stay long.  Merle, Velma, Roberta and Dave & I went to Cheddars for lunch.  That place has really good food!  Then we came home and both took short naps before leaving again for supper.  Vicki had invited us to go to Post Corner with the family for their last evening meal in Florida.  It was a gorgeous sunset tonight!

B&B

Tuesdays are B&B days and today was no exception.  It was our last day of bowling for the season - until November 7th when we start up again.  I finished as 3rd high women's bowler...I got better as the season progressed.  Dave unfortunately ended as low men's bowler.  Bless his heart - he still likes to bowl.  Me, not as much!

After lunch we had time for a short nap and then at 4:30 we left for Spectrum Field for the last half of  B&B - baseball.  Since Vicki, Al, and Allison are here we went to see the Phillies and the Blue Jays.  It was a rough night for the Phillies.  Neither team was spectacular, but the Phillies were awful tonight - no pitching and no hits to speak of.  Oh well, it was a fun night to sit outside at a ballgame!

Monday

This was a bit of a catch-up day.  We've been going pretty hard for about two weeks, so today was a day that we could catch up on some of things that we've been neglecting.  Tonight I played cards while Dave did his exercises and watched tv.  We had a chance to go to Whiskey Joe's with the family, but Dave was tired and wanted to stay home.

Sunday

Our busy-ness continues.  Today we went to church and then this afternoon and evening we spent with Dave's family at their condo on the beach.  It was a fun evening.  Four first cousins and their spouses, two of the next generation, one of the second generation, and 3 couples who went to school together!  We watched a pretty sunset and had a good meal.

Friday & Saturday

Whew!  What a whirlwind!  The last two days have been busy, busy, busy!  Yesterday I went with the family to Sawgrass where we walked and walked around the boardwalk.  We saw small alligators, one big one, a pileated woodpecker, and 4 nests - 3 anhinga nests and 1 cormorant nest.  All had mommas sitting on eggs.  Should be fun to get pictures of babies this year because 3 of the nests are in plain sight.  The 4th nest is hidden in the trees.

After lunch I went to the clubhouse to help get ready for the pool party.  We entertained 70+ people with burgers and hot dogs at that.  Then clean up afterwards and 7s from Hell after that!

Today started a bit slower, but this afternoon we had massages.  Then at 5:00 we had our annual potato bake.  Another 70+ people were at that!  Delicious food!!  I was exhausted from my massage but Ann wanted to play dominoes so I taught them how to play the game Maury and Roberta played.  I just got home!

Yay!

I'm so excited!  My niece and her family are coming for a week.  Their plane should land in about 5 minutes at St Pete/Clearwater.  Bob & Ann just left to pick them up.  I feel like I haven't seen them forever!  I hope we get to enjoy them while they're here.

Today was a typical Thursday.  Dave went to work at church and I slept in!!  Then tonight we went to play trivia at Fat Cat's.  We didn't do so well tonight.  The trivia tonight had things like vexiollogy, dreys, and ludology, as well as organs of the body.  We were really bad on the 3rd round.  The final question was, what philosopher, mathematician said "I think, therefore I am."  We came up with 4 different answers, but none of them was the right answer...needless to say, we sucked tonight!!  It was still fun, though.

Wednesday

We had a bit of a quiet day today.  I worked on the newsletter and the April calendar and got them done.  I'll send them to be printed first thing tomorrow morning.  I also got the tax papers finished and Dave mailed them off.  Then I was able to get the bowling spreadsheet finished and sent off to Chris.  Whew!  It's almost like having a job!

This evening we had two places to be, but we chose to go to a housewarming party at Sudi & Howard's.  What a fun evening.  Talked to some very interesting people whose names completely escaped me already.  One was a neurologist and one sold water purifiers.  Another one married very well, but is now widowed.  Fun times!

Plus, we Skyped with Bryan and Aidan!!

Tourney is Over!

The fun shuffleboard tournament is over!  Bob & his partner Coreen won the doubles tournament.  Yay,  Bob!

I didn't go bowling this morning.  I've been having problems with Word and this morning I got on the chat line with Microsoft to see what was happening.  Since I have a subscription to Office 365, they reinstalled it and now everything seems better.  I was still on chat with them when it was time to leave, so I told Dave to just go without me.

Monday

My shuffleboard days for 2016 are over!  Today was the start of  the doubles tournament.  Sue and I are partners and we got beat our first match and then went to the consolation round.  We lost our first match there, which means we are done for the season.  I plan to help out by keeping score tomorrow as the doubles tournament continues...after bowling!

Sunday

Church this morning was very inspirational...Pastor Jack had a great message!  After church, we came home, changed clothes, and then went to the clubhouse for lunch.  Mmmm, good!  If you want a wonderful sandwich for $3.50 (crab salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, or egg salad) and/or a bowl of either corn chowder, clam chowder, or chili) for $3.50, come to the clubhouse either Monday or Tuesday from 11:30 to 1:00 and join us.  We also have cakes/pies for dessert and soft drinks - all for $1.50!!  These items are made by Marv/Betty/John/Nancy who are from Vermont and have been chefs/bakers for colleges back east for years.  Wonderful cooks.

After lunch, it was time for some more shuffleboard.  I ended up playing another 5 games today.  I took 4th in the consolation round.  Piece of trivia...in the 14 games I've played in the last 2 days, I've shot 112 frames!  That's a bunch!!  After shuffleboard, it was home for ice packs and a nap, followed by an evening of wonderful basketball!

I start doubles tomorrow at 10:00.

Saturday

Yesterday was Saturday to me, all day!  I thought we were going to church this morning and shuffling this afternoon!  Dave told me that it was only Friday and I adjusted.  Yesterday I worked on taxes all day.  I still need two K-1s and then I have everything.  Both companies were supposed to send me copies by email yesterday afternoon...I didn't get either one...grrrr.  I guess I'll call again on Monday.

Last night we had a wedding in the rec hall.  I went to the reception.  Dave was helping Della pack for her move to Sarasota/Bradenton.

Today Dave went with Gilles and Della to her new condo to unpack the truck.  I, however, had to shuffle in our shuffleboard tournament.  We started the singles portion of the double elimination tourney at 10:00.  I played three matches of three games each...that's nine games in six hours.  My hip is on ice right now!  I lost my first match to Gary, but beat Ann and beat Pat.  Now tomorrow I play Coreen and she'd pretty good too, so I'll probably end up playing 3 games again.  A match is best 2 out of 3 games.  I'd like to advance, but we'll see.

Tonight my Cyclones play Purdue, but not until 9:40 our time so I'll be up late again.

Whew!

Well, it's way past our bedtime, but we had to stay up to watch our Cyclones!!  WTG, guys!  That was a little too close for comfort!

Our day was pretty relaxing up until the last half of the game!  We hung out here, working on taxes, etc.  Then we went to Fat Cat to play trivia.  We did pretty well on the first round and very well on the beer round...but we sucked on the 3rd round.  Basically we guessed on a bunch of them.  We then had help on the bonus question, but we still finished 13th.  Oh well...next week's beer round is "organs of the body" - we might do better on that!

Tuesday

I bowled pretty well today - not great, but I wasn't disappointed.  I can't say the same for bingo.  I'm getting tired of not winning.

At bingo tonight, I had too many duties.  I counted the money, divided up the money, handed out the money, and wrote down the results.  Hopefully Sandy and her family will get back tomorrow - they're snowed in back east somewhere.

We have the correct kitchen counter now - yay!!  Here's what came the first time and the second photo is what it is supposed to be!  So now we have the right one!

While I'm showing pictures, I thought you should see some of my hibiscus.  They have been beautiful this year!  Enjoy!!

Sunday

We have had a lazy day.  Jami and the kids went home about 2:00 and since then we've just hung out.  We just got off of Skype with Bryan and Aidan.  They also have a foster baby that's only about 2 weeks old.  Aidan was in the bathtub...I think that's the easiest way to corral him!!  He was just chattering tonight.  He said a couple of words...but mostly just jibberish.  He told us Bryan's shirt was blue, but then so was the bathtub!!  Bryan says he tells you he's two, but he wouldn't do it for us.  He did say peek-a-boo, though!

Saturday

Had a fun day at Busch Gardens!  Now I'm tired and ready for bed!  Jami and the kids aren't home yet.  I'm sure they closed down the park!  We got home in time to see most of the second half of the Cyclone vs West Virginia game.  We won and we're Big 12 Champs the last 3 out of 4 years!

Tomorrow will be a big day - it's Selection Sunday so the Cyclones (along with 63 other teams) will know where they're "dancing".  We're going to Whiskey Joe's for lunch and then seeing the kids off.

Friday

I went to the doctor today.  They think I have a UTI so they gave me amoxicillin - fun.  But it already seems to be working.  My side ache is only about 1/3 of what it had been.  Yay!

This evening, Jami and two of the kids came this evening.  We're going to Busch Gardens tomorrow.  It's supposed to be hot and humid.  We may have to ride one of the water rides to cool down!

Tonight after supper I watched the Cyclones win their semi-final game at the Big 12 Tournament.

Thursday

I slept in this morning!  Boy, did I!  I woke up at 9:51!!  Dave had called at 9:38 telling me he was on his way home.  I had just gotten out to get my breakfast when he drove in!

We ran some errands today, but other than that we didn't do much.  Dave cleaned up his shed and the lanai - they both needed it!

Wednesday

After coffee this morning, we had our monthly HOA meeting.  Generally, it was pretty calm, which is a really good thing!

This evening we met Sudi & Howard at The Pub for an early dinner.  We had a wonderful time catching up with them.  It had been way too long!

After dinner, we stopped in a "beach access" area and watched the sun set.  What a beautiful sight.  Thank you, God!

My birthday

I had really high hopes for today!  When Dave woke me up and told me "HB", I told him I thought you were supposed to do just what you wanted to do on your birthday.  He told me I had to go bowling and had to get out of bed...grrrrr!  Anyway, I decided to make the best of the day.  I had high game and high series at bowling (among the women).  I had a 166 game and a 408 series.  Good start to my day.  Maybe I'll win at bingo too!

Lunch was at PJ's.  Not my favorite place, but I had veggie alfredo and it was very good.  After we got home, the guy from the cabinet place came and told us he wrote down the wrong number and the correct name for the countertop laminate.  Unfortunately the guy who made the countertop just went by the number.  The good news - they'll be replacing our countertop!!

Bingo - not so good.  I didn't win, but Dave bought a cake and delivered it during the break.  It was delicious and everyone enjoyed it.

Monday

I started my day off at 6:15...I don't know why I got up so early.  I had a board meeting at 8:30, but I certainly don't need 2 hours to get ready!

While I was gone, the plumber came and got us all hooked up.  So now we have a working kitchen again!  Yay!  The only thing wrong is still the countertop.  I really, really don't like it.  It's got way too much "yellow" tones in the browns.  I know it's not what I thought I was getting.  Dave went to Traditions Cabinets today and got a sample of what the countertop was supposed to be.  It's the same #, but it's certainly a different color.  So he called Dave at Traditions and asked him to come look at it.  It'd sure be nice if they'd replace it.  Oh dear!

I found out today that one of the coaches who came to the reunion last fall passed away yesterday.  He had a sudden heart attack on the golf course and died.  RIP Tuck!  He will be missed.  He made a positive impact on so many guys, not just at ISU, but also at Ohio State and Wooster.  He was one of the good guys!

Sunday

Pastor Jeremy preached today.  He does a good job, but he's not Pastor Jack.  In Jeremy's defense, he was just ordained about 2 years ago this time of year.  He keeps getting better and more relaxed.  He just talks so fast!

We came home from church and put our kitchen together.  We've actually got extra cupboard space!  Tomorrow the plumber comes and then we can rid the second bathroom of our camper's dish-washing station!  We can hardly wait!

Saturday

Every Saturday morning, we shuffle at 10:00.  Today was no exception.  It started out a bit cool, but by the middle of the first game I was able to shed my jacket.  I won my first game, lost my second game, and won my third game.  I felt like I played really well today.

When I got home, the guy had been here installing the countertop.  It's not what I thought I ordered, but I like it.  I'd just like to see the sample that I chose...just for comparison purposes.

Now the only thing left to do this year is to get the plumber here to install the sink.  Then we'll finally have a working kitchen!

This evening, we had pasta night at the clubhouse.  It was very well attended and it was all really good.  We made a cherry dump cake in the crockpot.  It was very good...would have been better with ice cream!!

BORING DAY!!

Dave worked with Bob & Gary ALL DAY today and, therefore, I got bored.  I rode around the park two different times today.  I worked on tax paperwork and I even took a nap.

Tomorrow we'll be working around here after I finish shuffling.  The countertop is to be installed in the morning.  I can hardly wait - I can't remember what it's going to look like!!

Thursday

Jami flew into Tampa last night, so we went over there to pick her up.  On the way back, I missed my turn and ended up taking the wrong way home...grrr!  But at least we got here!  We then stayed up quite late visiting.

This morning, we all got up early because our contractors were going to be here at 8:30...NOT!  They showed up at 9:15, did 10 minutes of work to fix our problem and left.  Jami and Linda down the street went to the license bureau to get Linda's car registered in Jami's name.  Once that was over, we all went to Whiskey Joe's for lunch.  What a beautiful day it was to sit out on the water!

Jami went home about 1:30 so Dave helped Gary and Bob and then we  opted out of trivia.
