The Frog Pond

We went to The Frog Pond in St Pete today with Allisons, Heckarts, and Sasseens.  Delicious breakfast and a fun atmosphere...frogs everywhere!!  I'd wanted to go there for some time, so I'm glad we got to go.

After breakfast, we stopped at JoAnn's and then we went to WalMart.  We did our shopping, came home and took naps.  Dave then cleaned the shower floor for me...and the doors!  He's such a great husband!  I played cards tonight while he washed off the driveway.  I think we're ready for company now!

Cards tonight were fun.  We won by less than 200 points!  Good game!

Chilly day

I guess winter in Florida isn't over yet.  Another cold front is upon us and today was a little chilly.  We had our high for the day a little after midnight.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be 69 again and then back into the mid to upper 70's - yay!!

Dave and I worked on cleaning the house today.  We vacuumed, swiffered, and wet-mopped all the floors.  Then we rearranged the living room and got the house ready for company this weekend!  Should be fun!  I also worked on our taxes.  I need to print some stuff, but for some reason the computer isn't communicating with the wifi and the printer.  So I'll try to reinstall it tomorrow.

We took a couple of bike rides today - the last one I actually had to wear a sweatshirt!

Good day!

I had a good day today.  Dave took his dad to Sebring for the Galveston (Indiana) Reunion of family and friends.  I stayed here and enjoyed being alone!  When the car is gone, no one knows I'm here, so I can just hide!  I didn't even get dressed until about 11:00.  I read, played games on the computer, and put our tax papers together.  I still have some work to do on the tax papers, but I'm over half-way done.  I didn't even go up to the clubhouse for coffee this morning!  In fact, I haven't even been outside today.

I have had some intestinal issues today, so I elected not to go up to play cards...does that mean I'm a winner...or a loser?

Beautiful Day

It was another beautiful day here!  We bowled this morning (just so-so for me, but Dave had a 157 his first game!)  For lunch we went to the Clubhouse on Bryan Dairy - good food!!  I worked on cleaning house this afternoon.  We took our bike rides and then I went to bingo.  I got a bingo the first game, but so did 3 others.  So all I won was $3...not enough to pay for my cards tonight.

Sorry,, I'm tired tonight, so don't have a lot to say.

Lovely day

I think I rode somewhere between 3 and 4 miles on my bike today.  I lost track!  I rode for a while with Roger and then by myself and then Dave came home and I rode with him.  I was drenched when I got home!  It has been so humid!

We had lunch here and then I made a wrapped pickle dip that I found on Pinterest.  It was really, really good!  We were invited to go watch the sunset at Indian Shores with Sasseens, Heckerts, Allisons, and Kozaks.  The guys were playing golf at Chevelle (all but Dave), so we picked up the ladies and met the guys at Sasseens.  It was a fun night - and a beautiful view!

It wasn't the best sunset we've ever seen down here, but it was pretty neat!

Beautiful Day!

We had another gorgeous day here in Largo.  It's still 70 degrees at 9:00 PM!  We had abundant sunshine and it was about 85 degrees!  More like Florida weather!!  Thank you, Lord!

We went to church this morning and when we got home we went up to Sandy's for the Bocce Ball tournament.  I think we only had 30 or 31 participants, but the play started at noon and we got home about 5:30!  The top four players in order of placing were Alan, Pat Bargary, Larry, and Babe.  Everyone had a good time!  The games were fun, the hot dogs were great, and the weather cooperated!  Good job, everyone!

Tonight we've been just sitting here reading and playing on the computer.  But now the Daytona 500 has finally resumed, so we're watching it.  I don't think we'll make it to the end of the race, however.  When you sit outside all day, it makes you really tired.

Soggy Saturday

I'm afraid there seems to be a pattern developing here...daily rain!  It was so humid last night that we turned on the A/C and it's still running.  It's not that it's so hot, it's just so darn humid.  We sat outside tonight with Bob, Ann, Heckarts, Sasseens, and Ann's brother & his wife.  I was just soaked when we got home because of the humidity!

We received bad news early this morning from home.  A friend from church, and a fellow Cyclone, Charlie Montgomery, fell, hit his head and died this morning.  He'd been battling a fever and perhaps a kidney infection, but no one know what made him fall.  He will definitely be missed!  RIP, Charlie!  Our Cyclones won tonight - I think they had an extra coach looking over them tonight!

This morning after I took my shower and got ready for the day, I made a peach cobbler dump cake for tonight.  It sure smelled good - I was hoping it tasted good...and it did!  The park had a pasta night this evening.  I think there were about 80 people in attendance.  It was really good...spaghetti and a tortiglioni-type pasta.  Then there was plain red meat sauce, a sausage sauce, and meatballs.  Of course, there was also bread and salad and MANY desserts!  There was wine, too...I forgot that.  Good job!

Tomorrow we have a Bocce ball tournament after church.

Wet, windy & wild!

It was supposed to rain today and it did!  We wanted to go to the Legion, but felt that it was too windy and wouldn't be any fun, plus it felt like it could rain at any time.  We took our bike ride early and then we went to 5 Guys for lunch.  Delicious!

We just hung around this afternoon while it was raining and then I went to play cards tonight.  My partner and I won!!  It was a fun evening - there were 14 of us.

Sarasota

We had a good day today, even though the fish weren't biting!  We were at  Dad's by about 9:30 and the guys went fishing by about 9:50.  As soon as they left, Roberta and I went shopping.  We were looking for 2 things - she wanted new coffee cups and Dave wanted a new baseball cap.  We didn't get either one of those items!

We stopped at McDonalds for burgers and cokes and took lunch out to the guys at Lido Beach.  That was fun because it was a beautiful day.  My car thermometer read 86 degrees!  It's still 72 here and it's 9:30!  Gotta love it!  Unfortunately there's rain forecast for the next 4 or 5 days.  I sure hope not, because this is wonderful weather!

Busy Wednesday

Another beautiful day today!  I love this kind of weather - the windows are open and the breeze is blowing through the house.  The sun was out today - in abundance!  We started our day out with coffee at the clubhouse.  After coffee, we played 2 games of shuffleboard.  Then after a lunch break, we came back for 2 more games.  The redbirds beat the bluebirds 16-14!  Yay!

Dave worked on the roof today and when I got home from shuffling, he and I took a bike ride.  Then this evening I played cards.  I finally won!!  In the first hand, I was able to go out right away and our opponents ended up about 3500 in the hole!  We won after the 4th game by about 8,000 points!  It's been a long dry spell for me, but I finally was on a team that won!

Tomorrow is a Sarasota day!

I'm a winner!

Bowling was just okay today.  My first game was awful - I couldn't do anything right!  I finally got it going and bowled pretty well in the last 2 games.  Instead of going to lunch with the group, we went to Bob, Ann, her sisters, Barb, Gary, Keith, Barb, and Barb H's cousin & her hubby.  We went to the Legion.  It was a gorgeous day to sit out by the water!!  When we got home, we both took short naps and a bike ride.  Then it was time for bingo.

I didn't think I was going to win tonight, but I did win.  I  had to split with another person on my win -
$17 for my share.  Then I won the last game all by myself and it was $60!!  I guess I can play a couple more weeks now!!

Can-Am Day at The Ranch

It was a perfect day for the Can-Am celebration at our park.  It started at 1:00 with guys on the grills, cooking burgers, sausages, and hotdogs.  After singing both national anthems, we had a wonderful potluck meal.  Lots of food and lots of friends.  About 8 people were there who used to live here, so it was fun seeing all of them.

A good time was had by all.

This evening 16 of us played cards - I lost again, but only by 1500 points tonight.  Now I'm watching ice dancing.  These performances are absolutely beautiful!

Lazy Sunday

We were so lazy today that we didn't even go to church this morning.  I did some paperwork and rode my bike 3 times!  Dave washed the roof and crawled under the house.  He keeps smelling something (which I can't smell) so he thought we might have something dead under the house...nothing there.

I took a long nap.  Dave tried to take one, but my brother stopped to borrow something and then Buddy came down with a mechanical problem, so he gave up!

Now I'm watching the Olympics while he sleeps in his chair.  That Bode Miller is really something...I wish that reporter had left him alone.  She could tell he was very emotional - get out of his face!

Wonderful day!

We had a wonderful day here at The Ranch!  First of all, we had breakfast at the clubhouse.  There was almost a full house.  In fact, I think they ran out of sausage.  Then around noon, we started our bean bag tournament.  Again we had a huge turnout...over 45 participants.  I won my first round because I drew a bye!  For my second round, I had to play Roger, who beat me 21-14 or something like that.  I felt pretty good about my game.  Dave won his first match, won his second, but lost his 3rd match.  :(

When he finished playing, we headed to the Post Corner where we met Bev & Mel, Gerrii and Antony.  While we were there and waiting for our food, we ran over to the beach to take some pix of the sunset.  It was so pretty tonight...the waves were rocking and the sunset was fast.  And how about that moon?  It is truly beautiful!!

Happy Valentine's Day

What a beautiful day!  I woke up this morning to a big box of chocolates and a beautiful V-Day card from my honey!  The chocolates are truffles - oh, my!  For lunch we went to eat at the Legion, but all of the tables in the sun were taken and it was too chilly to sit in the shade.  So we decided to go to the Seabreeze - there were no parking places there...on we go!  We thought about The Pub, but it was full, too.  We ended up at JD's - inside!  We ate 2 specials and had iced tea - for under $20!  Good food, too.

This evening we had a Valentine's Day party/dance at the clubhouse!  Lots of fun!  Pictures will come later.  I'm too tired tonight to upload them.

Cold again.

It's cold again here...I'm ready for some HOT days!

Dave and I went for a bike ride this afternoon and it wasn't too bad.  However, when I rode home from cards tonight, I about froze!  I was toasty warm in the clubhouse, but riding into the north wind made it very chilly.  So, now I'm sitting here with my blanket around me, trying not to shiver!

Cards were bad tonight.  Nancy and I just couldn't get any wild cards!  The last hand we got our wild cards, but couldn't get 7s...needless to say, we lost.

Great day!

This was a great day!  Not only was it nice, weather-wise, but it was also a winning day for me!  This morning after coffee, we had our monthly meeting and following it we shuffled.  I lost my first game by 1 point - grrrr.  In my second game, I got a rematch of my first game and I won it by 8 points!  Then I shuffled against the best woman shuffler at our park - probably the best athlete at our park.  I beat her!!  In fact I beat her a bunch!  We were at 3 points apart when I put her in the kitchen (-10) and I scored 15 points at the same time (a 25 pt turnaround).  Yay!!

Tonight at cards, my team won.  So, I feel like I had a great day!!

Tuesday again!

It sure seems to me that Tuesdays come around really, really quickly!  This was a bowling and bingo day.  I did relatively well at bowling.  I had a 142, a 127 and a 128.  I only threw a couple of bad balls, so that made me pretty happy.  Dave had a 132 his first game and then not so good his other games.  Bob & Ann went to a shuffleboard tournament so they  didn't bowl today.  There were only 17 of us bowling.  After bowling we went to the Dugout for lunch.

Dave and I both took short naps this afternoon and before bingo we took our bike ride.  Then at bingo, I actually won a game!   I didn't get any of the big money, but at  least I got to say bingo!!

Alone time

I had alone time today.  Dave and his dad were going fishing, so I elected not to go to Sarasota with him. It was a beautiful day for fishing AND for being here.  I took 3 different bike rides today.  Then when Dave came home, I rode again.

I made crockpot lasagna today.  Our house smelled so good!  The lasagna, by the way, was really good!

Cards were a bust again tonight.  There were 14 of us playing.  My partner and I got beat by about 3,000 points.  We'd get all of our required canastas and then get another 7 and wouldn't be able to go out...grrr!  It was still fun, though.

unless you allow them to do so.  (Eleanor Roosevelt) I have used this saying many, many times with my athletes, and now I need to remember it for me.  I'm tired of feeling inferior, so I'm turning over a new leaf!  You can laugh at me if you want, but I'm just going to ignore you.  How about that for a way to start my post?  I hate getting tears when someone makes fun of me, so it ain't gonna happen again.

Church was good today.  After church, we ate a quick lunch and then Dave went to Gary's to work.  I cleaned the house and played my games.  I also rode my bike 3 times and I visited with the ones who've been sick.  I feel good about my day!

Tonight we played what we call "Court Whist" and they call Jack's card game.  It's a fun game whether you know how to play cards or not.  Bob got 2nd so he won money...not me!  We had 32 who played - fun night!

Didn't feel well today.

I had some stomach issues today and just didn't feel very well.  It was all good, though, because the weather wasn't conducive for being outside anyway!  I did finally get out this afternoon.  I went to a shower for one of our resident's grandson's bride. We played some cute games and had some fun finger food.  So all was good.

I also enjoyed hearing about my Cyclones!  Also, right now our Warriors are ahead of Southeastern.  Hope they can hold on.

Miserable day!

I'll be glad when spring actually hits Florida!  It's downright miserable down here today...cold and rainy.  I much prefer the 70's and 80's that we had a few days ago.

I didn't do much today.  Dave worked at Gary's and I washed the sheets, then made some cookies.  After that I read a bit and I played games on the computer.  Tonight I played cards.  There were only 6 of us.  We tied!  After 4 hands, we both had 21,025 points!  I can't believe it!

Fun Day

Dave's sister, Suzy, and her husband got here yesterday.  So, today we went to see them in Sarasota at Dad's.  Since it was overcast and kind of misty, Suzy wasn't at the pool.  We just sat around and gabbed.  Then at lunchtime, we went to Hungry Howie's!  It was a new restaurant - big and clean and bright!  The food was good, too.  We talked about how we wouldn't be eating supper tonight because of all we'd eaten at lunch.  Wrong again!  As soon as we got home, the phone rang.  It was Ann inviting us to go to Frenchy's Salt Water Cafe in Clearwater.  Mutual friends - Sam & Barb had just arrived and we all went to supper.  Sam & Barb, Gary & Barb, Ron & Marcia, Bob & Ann, and us.  I only had dessert and Dave had a bowl of clam chowder.  We left here at 4:45 and didn't get back here until 8:00.  Mainly we just sat around and talked!  It was fun.

I forgot to tell you the coolest thing about today.  On our way to Sarasota, I saw 7 dolphins around the Skyway Bridge!  They were really close to the road and very active.  It we weren't doing 65 mph, I think I would have seen even more of them!

Rain & Sun

It was a strange weather day today.  I awoke to rain and today was supposed to be a day for shuffling...darn!  We went to coffee and then it was announced that we'd shuffle at noon if the courts weren't too wet.  So, by noon the sun was shining and we got to shuffle 2 games.  I played Dave the first game...he beat me in the last frame.  I was ahead 53-38 or something like that.  He put me in the kitchen (-10) and he scored 14.  He beat me!  That wasn't very nice, Dave!  In my second game, I played Ron (Ann's brother).  He beat me, but I scored a lot of points, so I felt pretty good about it.  Dave also got clobbered in his second game.

Tonight at cards, I lost again!  Grrr.....

B & B

Bowling today was fun - for me anyway!  I bowled a 148, a 121, and a 135 or something like that.  So I bowled pretty well.  Dave did well today, too.  He had a 137, a 118, and a 108.  We had 23 bowlers!  After bowling, we went to Rumba's for lunch.  It's a beautiful place for lunch.  The lunches are a little fancy, but we got to sit outside among palm trees!

Since I stayed up for the 3 overtimes in the ISU-OSU game last night, I was tired today.  So, this afternoon, I took a short nap and that helped a lot.

Bingo was just the same as always.  No bingos for me!

My kind of Monday!

I love days like this.  I decided not to go to Sarasota today.  I stayed home, ran the vacuum and the Swiffer, read a little, rode my bike, and just chilled!  That's my kind of day - just doing what I want when I want to do it!!

Dave and his dad went fishing.  They caught about 18 fish and kept 14 of them.  They had a good day.  It was beautiful here today.  It's still 69 here...and very humid.  We actually turned on the air just to take the humidity out of the air.  Should be good sleeping!

Cards were bad tonight.  We got beat by about 4000 points!  Now I'm watching my Cyclones.  They're at Okie State.

Super Sunday

What a beautiful day it was today!  It's still 69 here  and 4 in O-town...brrr.  We had a busy, busy day, but a fun one.  We went to church, of course.  After lunch here at home, I picked up Bobbi, Ann, & Barb and we went to watch "Rex's Exes" at the West Coast Players Theatre.  It was very good and very funny.  I think there were 15 of us from the park - it was a Red Hat event.

When we got back, we went to the club house for the Super Bowl  party.  Unfortunately we were late, because I thought it started at 6 and it really started at 5.  :(  We came home at halftime.  I wanted to watch the game in my jammies.  It's a really, really boring game.  Unfortunately, Seattle is so much better than Denver.  I thought it would be a closer game.  I was cheering for the Broncos, but I'm very happy for the Seahawks.  Since I worked for both head coaches, I didn't care which team won.  I'm excited for Coach Carroll but very sad for Coach Fox.  I know they both wanted to win and prepared hard.

I am tired!!

This morning we got up, had breakfast, took showers, and left for Tampa Bay Downs..  It was a day of horse racing and $2 bets - what a fun day!  There were 12 races today and we stayed for all 12 of them.  We were having too much fun to leave, I guess.  None of us got rich, but none of us went broke either!  We didn't get home until about 7:30!!

It was a great way to spend a day with family and friends!

Tomorrow is another busy day...church, a play, and the Super Bowl party!
