Sunday

Went to church this morning and got to meet our Pastor's new baby.  He's precious!  After church we finished loading the camper and took off for Boone and Ledges State Park.  The wind was  blowing so hard that I almost got car sick.  Now the wind isn't blowing at all and wasn't when we got here.  It was 93 here today - very hot and humid.  Felt like 106 or something like that.  I can tell you that it was hot setting up the camper.  Took a long time for the A/C to cool this beast down!

The little ones were fun tonight.  Aidan and I had dueling bubbles!

Saturday

Oh my goodness, we had a Saturday without rain!  It sure feels like summer though.  It was 92 at 6:00 PM!  It's 85 here at 9:30 PM.  My weather thingy says there's light rain out there, but I don't think so.  The driveway next door looks dry.  The fireflies are flitting about out there, which is another sure sign of summer!

Dave and I bandaged up my toes this morning and walked at the mall.  We got our 2 miles in.  In fact, I'm at 3 miles right now!!  Then we started getting things gathered to go camping tomorrow afternoon.  My weather thingy says we have until Weds in Boone before we have rain and thunderstorms...we're not coming home until Friday or Saturday.  Going to Ames one day of that week!!  Yay!!

Found out today that our little neighbor across the street from us in Florida passed away.  She was 90 and passed in her sleep.  God bless her!!

Friday

Dave and I both slept in this morning.  I woke up around 7:00, but saw it was still dark so knew it was raining...went back to sleep and finally woke up around 9:00!  Came out to see what Dave was doing and he had slept until 8:30!!  Easy to sleep when it's dark and rainy!  Basically it rained all morning.

I lied to you yesterday.  I don't have 2 blisters...I have 3!!  So after my shower, I had to apply 3 bandaids just to be able to put on my shoes.  Today I only got in 1.5 miles and all of those steps were done at Sam's Club and Walmart.  I've got the bandaids off now, letting the blisters dry up!  Hope they feel better tomorrow.

Thursday

This was a hot one!  91 at one time.  When we came out of the Mall, we felt like we walked into a sauna!  Glad we walked inside.  Unfortunately I wore a pair of my old shoes walking, and I am now sporting two blisters - one on each of my big toes!  Won't be wearing those shoes to walk any more!  Bandaids are going to be my best friends!

This afternoon, Dave and I worked on his Board of Directors papers.  He's finally organized!  This evening, I saw my first lightning bug!!

I've been watching the debates.  Wow!  There was some contention on the stage tonight!  I can't wait to hear what the ladies on The View say about it tomorrow!

Wednesday

My friend, Sudi, cautioned me to watch what I wish for.  I wanted warm weather.  We got it today - 88 degrees and pretty humid.  When we walked today, we walked outside.  When we came home, I was soaked!  It took me sitting in front of a fan for over a half hour before I cooled down enough to eat my lunch!  Tomorrow we may go to the mall to walk because it's supposed to be hot all this week!

Tuesday

We had a beautiful day today!!  We walked in the cemetery this morning because it was so pretty!  Dave went out to Bryan's to work this afternoon.  I sat outside and read for quite some time and read.  Then when Dave got home we sat outside and enjoyed the day until the bugs got to "bugging" us!  I fixed Rice Jambalaya with Polska Kielbasa for supper.

Monday

Dave and I cleaned the house this morning.  I was supposed to go to Cedar Rapids this afternoon with a couple of ladies from the condo, but I was having some stomach issues so I had to beg off.  So I don't have much to say.  I didn't get my walk in even.  I just didn't feel very well.  Bummer.

Sunday

Pouring down rain again this morning.  Dave drove me to the front door of church so that I wouldn't get soaked!!  When we came out of church, though, it had stopped - 2" of rain, though!  We went to the Mall for our walk and then to HyVee for bacon and eggs - yum!!

This afternoon, we went to Gladbrook, Iowa, to the Matchstick Museum.  Fantastic work by a very personable man who just happened to be at the Museum today.

Wonderful afternoon!

This evening we went to Bryan's and had a fun evening enjoying the kids!

Saturday

We had another chilly, gray day here.  We went out to walk at the mall this morning, so I didn't notice that it was chilly.  By the time we got home after walking and going to Walmart, we ate our lunch and Dave left for Bryan's.  Since Bryan has had pink eye, he hasn't felt like working with his dad, especially outside.  The brightness of the day about ruined his eyes.  I've never seen anyone with pink eye as bad as his.  His eyes were fiery red, swollen, and back and blue around them.  I just hope the little ones don't get it.

After Dave left and the Cubs got so far behind in the 5th inning, I shut off the tv and went outside to sit and read.  Not for long, though, because I got cold.  I came in, got a flannel shirt and went back out for a bit.  Again, though, it was too chilly for me to be comfortable!

Friday

We were supposed to go camping this weekend, but the forecast was horrid.  Rain for the next 8 days!  We're going on June 30th thru the 4th of July.  Hopefully this wet spell will be over by then.  It poured on us here today!  Dave and I went to the Mall to walk our 2 miles.  I got pretty wet going into the mall (Dave did, too!) and then we walked fast enough that when we got done I was wet because I was sweating!!  Good day to be inside.

Thursday

Dave and I went out for lunch today.  Went to LJ's after our 2 mile walk.  Got a BLT and potato salad.  It was delicious...I still have half to eat tomorrow.  Yippee!

Had a couple of errands to run after lunch and then it was nap-thirty!  Then we sat out on the balcony this afternoon late.  Now we're watching the Cubs!

Wednesday

I started out pretty slowly today.  Don't know why, but I was just being a slug!  I even called my brother before I had taken my shower.  That was after "The View".  Dave had gone out to mow at Bryan's so I had permission to be a slug!

After I talked to Bob, though, I showered and got ready for my day.  First thing I did was go for a 2 mile walk in the neighborhood.  Didn't get quite enough steps in my trek around the cemetery, so I had to finish by going east on Westchester - clear to the end.  That added another 1,000 steps to my total.  I forgot to take my walking stick with me, so I was extra careful!

Tonight we had our annual HOA meeting here at the condo.  We had 25 of the 35 units represented at the meeting, plus 3 proxies.  Of the 7 that weren't represented, two are owned but vacant and one has just sold and closes Friday.  That only leaves 4 - I wonder where they were?  Hmmm...It was a good meeting!

Tuesday

We had another rainy day here - it rained most of the morning!  Today was my monthly WW weigh-in so I had to go out in it.  I got to use my new umbrella at least.  I was right on my goal weight, so all is good.  When I got back from that meeting, Dave and I went to walk at the Mall.  We got our 2 miles in in air-conditioned, dry comfort!  When we walk at the mall, we walk by this place that has the best looking cheese bread and pizza.  So today we ate there.  Dave had pizza and I had a piece of cheese bread - it was good, but not as good as it looked.

This evening we went downstairs for our version of Family Feud.  What a fun evening!  Dave and I were 1 and 2 after the first half of the game.  I ended up 2nd and Dave ended up 4th.

Monday

Dave and I had errands to run this morning, so before all of that we went to the Mall and got our 2 miles in!!  Then it was off to Walmart and to Sam's Club so we got even more steps in!  By the time we got out of Sam's, I was ready to go home.  It was after noon, I was hungry and I was tired!!  Came home, ate lunch, and then I decided to lay down for a while.  As soon as I got down, the contractor started working up in the apartment above us - grrrrrr!  Needless to say, I didn't get a nap!

Who says we don't have palm trees in Iowa?  These are on tall pillars all through the mall here in Waterloo!  Funniest looking fake trees I've ever seen!

Saturday and Sunday

Yesterday, we had a busy day.  I went walking even though it was hot and humid.  It felt good to get home!  Dave finished up putting up the towel bars, etc.  Then late afternoon we went to Bryan's for an early Fathers Day meal!  Aidan and Kaitlyn were fun!  Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of Aidan.  He's gotten to where he doesn't want his picture taken!  Here's Kaitlyn with Grandpa Dave!

We went to Plainfield for church today.  McCoy was getting baptized and Clayton was joining the church!  Kyle, Cassie, and all 3 kiddos were there too as were Vicki and Allison.  Fun to see so many little ones in church!  Kyle's cousin was there with her 3 little ones and Clayton's sister was there with her two!  Where we go to church, there just aren't little ones, so it was fun!  Blaise sat with us and we got to watch the girls and McCoy!

Friday

Yesterday I told Dave that I'd like him to replace the brass door handles/knobs in our condo...he didn't understand why.  As far as he was concerned the brass ones were just fine.  He finally said he'd do it and I told him there was no hurry.  If you know my hubby, you know what we did today.  We went to Lowes and picked out the handles we wanted and bought them - $400+ of them - we have 8 doors!  Guess what?  We have new handles on every door already!  We also got a couple new towel bars for the guest bath because the towel bars etc in there are brass and chrome.  I still need to get some new cabinet knobs and handles for there too.  Then we'll officially be out of the 70's in our condo!!

I didn't get my 2 mile walk in today.  I'll try to get it done tomorrow.

Thursday

Today Dave and I had a "date"!  His words, not mine!  He took me to walk at the Mall and then he took me to Walmart to get our hair cut!  Fun date, huh?

When we came home, we had lunch and then it was nap-thirty.  He slept for well over an hour while I read.  Basically this was a wasted day - didn't do much of anything all afternoon!

Tuesday and Wednesday

For some reason I didn't blog last night.  Don't know why, but I just didn't get around to it.  I went out for a walk early in the day, but it kept sprinkling on me, so I cut my walk short.  Then last night we had a PEO meeting.  It was a marathon - that's why I didn't get around to blogging!  By the time I got home, I was tired of thinking!!

Today I finally got to watch "The View" and then we went to Sam's Club and to the mall to walk.  We did about 2 1/2 miles.  Dave mowed here at the condo because our custodian has family visiting.  I got to watch the Cubs play!  Then this evening, we went to Carlos O'Kelley's with Bryan and his family.  I even had a margarita!  The kids were both in good moods!!

Monday

I had a decorating committee meeting this morning.  We were 40 minutes into our meeting before we ever talked about decorating the lobby.  Too many others to discuss I guess!  That meeting ended about 2 1/2 hours after it started.  After the meeting, we all went to see Stacy's condo.  She basically gutted it and started over.  It's really, really neat!  She took out walls and everything.  Since she's on our committee, I said I was quitting and she could just do what she wanted with the lobby - she has great taste!  While I was in the meeting, Dave vacuumed so when I got home I dusted.

Dave decided we should go out to eat for lunch, so we went to Newton's where we had HUGE tenderloins.  I ate half of mine, plus there was enough extra meat on the outside of the sandwich that we'll both have 3 more meals of tenderloin.  There was a homeless man who went into the restaurant to use their restroom.  While he was in there, we told the waitress to get him a sandwich and fries and charge it to us without him knowing who had paid for his food.  They got it done and we felt good.  Although, he had enough money to buy cigarettes.  He had all his belongings in two shopping bags.

After lunch we went into a new store in town - nice place to buy gifts...kind of like a Hallmark store.  Then we went to the mall and got our two mile walk in.  Now we're watching the Cubs game.

Sunday

We went to church in Waverly today.  Clayton's band did the service today, so we got to enjoy McCoy and Kaylee and Clay's family again.  We passed McCoy from person to person!!  He was so good!

After church, we went to Walmart to get a couple of things, then home for lunch and a nap!  Dave went out to help Bryan - mostly he entertained Aidan!!  Tonight we watched the Cubs beat the Cardinals!!

Saturday

Dave and I went for a walk at Meyers Lake today.  It was a pretty place to walk - it's part of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.  Plus, there's an island in the middle of the lake that's got a bunch of memorials - I think they call it Angel Island because of the memorials.  There were two things wrong with the walk today - gnats and goose poop!  After walking around the island, we went back to the car to get some bug spray because the gnats were everywhere.  Then we took off around the lake, but we had to keep dodging goose poop.  The Canada geese are very dirty and have BIG poop!

This evening, we went to Waverly to watch Clayton's band play.  Kaylee was there with little McCoy.  He's quite a chunk and so strong!

Friday

Dave ran some errands while The View was on.  Then when it was over, we went to a couple other places and then to the mall to walk.  I got my 2 miles in!  Other than that we didn't do much else.  We cooked burgers on the grill tonight but the flies and gnats have finally arrived, so we ended up eating inside.  I was out on the balcony reading earlier and the gnats were so bad I came in and got the vanilla.  After I put that on me, the gnats didn't bother me anymore!

Thursday

I lost a day this week.  I thought this was Weds. all day.  Hmmm...I wonder what I did with the day I lost?!

Dave went to Bryan's to mow today, which left me to go to Walmart  to run errands.  Goody, goody!  I am not a shopper!  But since I had to go, I did my walking in air conditioned comfort!  Unfortunately, when you push a cart, your Fitbit doesn't register your steps, so I have no idea how many steps I really did.

This afternoon, we ate a late lunch and then I didn't want any supper.  I'll probably wake up in the middle of the night hungry!

Tonight we sat out on the balcony - it was a beautiful evening outside!

Wednesday

I went shopping with a couple of the ladies this morning.  We needed to purchase some big flower pots for the front of the building and one for the side of the building.  We found  them pretty quickly at the first store - "At Home"...love that store!  Then we went to Lowe's to get flowers, mulch and rock to fill the pots.  Can you believe we picked out the flowers in about 5 minutes!  We had to call Pat's hubby to bring his pickup to carry the mulch and rocks.  Thank goodness he came.  We ladies couldn't carry all of that stuff.  When we got home, we filled up the pots and they really look good.

The rest of the day, I read, took a brief nap, and I'm now watching the Cubs, where the fog is rolling in!  I'd think it would be hard to see the ball!

Tuesday

Dave surprised me this morning.  I always ask him what he has on his agenda every morning.  Today he said we were going to The Wild Carrot for lunch and then to visit the Hazelton area to see what Amish stores are like up here.  By around 2:30 the school kids (scholars as they call them) were getting out of school, either riding home or walking home along the side of the road, barefoot.  We also saw a farmer using 6 draft horses abreast to plant and we saw 7 horses (4 in front and 3 in back) planting.  Saw lots of water - both the Wapsi and the Cedar are out of their banks, but no rain again today so the water is receding.  Thank goodness.

Monday

After "The View" today, I got around to go take a walk.  Dave had run some errands and he came home around 11:30.  He went for a walk with me.  We walked in a new neighborhood not too far from us.  It had some beautiful homes - some older, but still very nice.  The newer ones were huge!!  We laughed because we live in a mobile home - probably not acceptable to these people.  Of course, most of these homes today are on the golf course nearby.

When we got home, we ate our lunch and then Dave went to help Bryan install some metal doors on his garage.  The replaced the wooden doors that the robbers pried open.  (Not the big, overhead doors, but the side door and the back door to the garage.  While Dave was gone, I did the dishes and then sat outside reading until I got chilled.  Then I came in and watched the Cubs game - yay, we finally won one!!

sunday

Today was another gorgeous day.  We had the patio doors open from after church until we left for Bryan's at 5:30.  I sat out there and read a book for quite a while this afternoon.

Bryan's house got broken into sometime last week while they were gone.  Stole his bicycle and his speakers.  Dave noticed his door was warped big time, but it wasn't warped...it had been pried open from the bottom and the top.  Poor kids!  Last week their pulling vehicle broke down just as they were supposed to head for southern Missouri for a week.  Dave let them take our truck to pull their camper.  So now they've got a vehicle to repair or replace and they need to install a security system or something.  They live on an acreage that's pretty secluded and obvious when they're not home.  I'd be petrified to live out there.

Saturday

We had an absolutely beautiful day today!  It was just perfect!  Warm but little humidity!!  I did get hot while I walked, but that's because I was in the sun most all of the time...plus I was moving!  I walked up to the cemetery and then did most all of my walking there.  It's wide open, hilly, and very peaceful.  When I came home, I walked up a couple of small streets just to smell and look at the flowers.  I was smelling them from a distance!!

They were beautiful!

I sat out on the balcony and read for a long time today...just enjoying the day.  When Dave got home from mowing at Bryan's, he cooked burgers on the grill and we ate our supper outside, too.  We came in to watch the Cubs-Cardinals game, but they're on rain delay so I'm ready to give up on them.  I'll find out the score tomorrow (if it's not rained out!)
