B&B

We had a visit from the cabinet guru today.  It seems that our bottom cabinets need to be moved 1/2" to the left.  We asked for 34" for the refrigerator opening and got only 33 1/2...we need 34!!  So the contractor will return tomorrow to do that work.  Grrr....

I bowled this morning while Dave worked on construction stuff.  I didn't bowl too badly, but Bob beat me 2-3 games!  Grrr....

Tonight at bingo, you guessed it...I didn't win.  Grrr...

Sunday

Today's sermon was wonderful.  Again Pastor Jack talked from Hebrews 12:1.  After church Dave and I went to The Pub for lunch.  We wanted to sit outside near the water.  It was a beautiful day to do that!

We both took naps this afternoon!  Then at 4:00 we had massages.  It was a great day!

Saturday

This was a gorgeous day!  I started out shuffling three games...I won 2 of my games so I was pretty happy.  I came home to Dave touching up ceiling paint in the kitchen.  So more construction!  Then we switched ranges with Ann & Bob.  On Monday they're taking the refrigerator too.  Gary & Barb took our microwave.  I guess you could say we kept everything in the family!

This evening we met Suzy and Greg at Woody's in Ellenton.  After drinks and dinner we said goodbye to them.  They're going back to Indiana on Monday.  :(  We'll miss them!

Came home to find out that Iowa State won this evening!  They beat #9 Baylor.  Go Cyclones!!

Friday

Today was a good day and a not-so-good day.  First the good:  Our contractor came this morning and installed our new microwave.  Once he got done with that, Dave and I went to find a light for over the sink.  Dave installed that!  So now we can cook and we can see to wash dishes...but there's no sink so no dishes!  Dave has set up a little camp sink area in the bathtub and that's how the dishes are being done.  I got busy vacuuming out the upper cabinets and putting down shelf liner.  Then when I got done with that, I started filling the upper cabinets.  I can't do the bottom cabinets yet, because we're waiting for the countertop guy to come.  Grrr...

Now for the not-so-good:  Bryan and Erin lost the baby they were carrying.  The doctor said she'd lost it before they came south on their trip.  Please keep them in your prayers.  They were so excited.

Thursday

So today the contractors came back and finished their job.  Unfortunately the guy who was to make the countertop is on vacation.  Now we wait again!  We decided to just put the old one back on there just so we have a counter.  The first picture is the back wall (complete with our new LED light!)  The second picture is where the sink goes.  They are so pretty!

They were gone by 11:00 so Dave and I went to Peter's for lunch and then to Sears Outlet to look at appliances.  We were able to get a refrigerator, a range, and a microwave in stainless steel...and they'll be delivered Monday.  Actually we've already got the microwave and it's going to be installed tomorrow.  One of the contractors who put in the cabinets is coming tomorrow to do that...yay!

We were both beat when we got home from shopping...no trivia tonight.

Wednesday

We had a pretty productive day!  I went to coffee this morning while Dave waited for the cabinet guys to get here.  By the time I got home from coffee, they were here and unloading cabinets.  By noon they had the upper cabinets up and were working on the bottom cabinets.

I left at noon to go with the Red Hatters to Safety Harbor for lunch at Crispers.  We had a good lunch - there were 13 of us!  Safety Harbor is a quaint little town with cute little shops all the way up main street.  They have a long pier, too.  I'd like to go there with my camera some day.

It rained much of the day and evening - thank God.  We really needed the rain!  It poured on us as we were starting to cross the Bayside Bridge.  When we got home and I'd delivered the other 4 ladies, I was shocked that all of the cabinets were up and the knobs were on.  There's not a lot left for them to do tomorrow - mainly trim at the top (crown molding).

B&B

B&B were both awful today.  I bowled horrible - Bob beat me every game...not by much, but he beat me anyway.  Lunch was wonderful.  We went to Abe's on Missouri.  Great food!  Great menu!  Loved it!

Bingo was just as bad.  I didn't win.  One lady won 6 times!!  At least my tablemate won!

We're Ready

Dave got Ken B to help him put up the new LED light in the kitchen.  It looks really nice, and VERY bright!  There won't be a problem seeing things while we're working at the counter now.  That was the last thing that had to be done before Wednesday when the cabinet installer comes.  I've even swept the floor!

Today was Can-Am Day at Holiday Ranch.  We had around 54 people attend a pot luck/cookout.  Everyone dressed in their country's colors and a good time was had by all.

Sunday

Here's a pictorial of the progress of our kitchen.  Dave's done so much work!  I'm sure glad he likes doing stuff like this.  This is day 2 where he removed the doors and the top cabinets.  Isn't the wall paper just beautiful?

Day 3 the bottom cabinets were removed too.
Day 4, he patched walls and let it dry for 24 hours.
The guys also put down extra flooring so the cabinets would be level!
Today Dave painted the walls.  Yay!  No more gross wallpaper!!
BRING ON THE CABINETS.  I'M TIRED OF THIS CONSTRUCTION STUFF!!!

Church was fantastic this morning.  The music was inspiring and so was the sermon.  Pastor Jack preached on Hebrews 12:1.  He's going to do part 2 next Sunday.

We ate leftovers on the lanai after Dave painted the walls.  Then tonight we went to Post Corner with Bob, Ann, Gary, Barb, Keith & Barb, Keith's daughter and her husband, Sue & Doug from O-town, and friends of theirs from Tennessee, and Keith's cousin and her daughter.  Whew!  We didn't get our pizza (Dave & I) until way after everyone else got theirs, so ours was free!  Clearwater Beach was jumping.  Lots of traffic.  Post Corner had a line waiting to get in for supper.  Very busy!

On a different note, my dad was born 109 years ago today.  I miss him!

Saturday

Breakfast this morning at the clubhouse - everything was delicious as usual!  Then we played shuffleboard starting at 10:00.  I lost one and won one, then I kept score on the 3rd game instead of playing.  Something I noticed today - mostly it's us Iowans who keep score.  There are some people who play all 3 games each week, never keeping score.  We Iowans are the first ones to volunteer to let others play in our place.  Way to go, guys!

It started sprinkling on us as I walked home from shuffleboard.  Ron & Bob came over to put down the flooring where the cabinets will be, so that part's now done.  Tomorrow afternoon, Dave will paint the walls where he  patched them.  Then we'll be ready for the cabinets on Wednesday.  Somewhere in there, though, he's got to get some help to install a new light in the kitchen because ours quit working the first day of demo!

We watched the Cyclones tonight - good job!

Dave put some mud up on the walls where needed today.  Next step will be paint!

Next day of Demo!

Demo today included taking out the sink and the bottom cabinets.  Now we're getting somewhere!  Unfortunately the bottom cabinets aren't worth much so they're getting thrown in the trash!  I'm glad that the top cabinets were salvageable.

Bingo got moved to tonight and that didn't bode well for me.  I didn't win anything.  Bummer!

Day 2

Today was day 2 of demolition.  I don't know if you watch any HGTV shows like I do.  Their demolition crews use sledge hammers, etc.  Not here.  We have someone who wants our cabinets, so the guys very carefully took the cabinets off the walls.  Now tomorrow Dave will work on the bottom cabinets.  Then it'll be time for the floor.

I had a board meeting with the regional director of ELS.  I came away very encouraged.  Played cards tonight and won by around 500 points.  It was a very close game all the way through.

Happy Valentines Day!

This Valentines Day I got flowers!  Dave gets up way early to do his stretching.  While he's doing that he takes pictures of the various flowers around our place.  So this morning he sent me pix of flowers from next door!  Best kind of flowers!  They will never wilt!

We bowled this morning.  There were14 of us.  No one had any really high scores.  I think 170 was the highest.  It was fun though.  For lunch we went to Acropol.  When we got home, Dave started taking doors off the existing cabinets because our new cabinets will be installed starting Weds of next week.  Yuk!  I hate messes!  I'll be glad when they're here and everything is put back together.

Tonight was our Valentines party at the clubhouse.  We didn't have many people attend this year.  Several people signed up but didn't come.  Too bad!

Whew!

We've had company...and now it's quiet around here.  Bryan, Erin, and Aidan came from Disney World on Friday afternoon and then Jami, Megan, and Danny came over Friday night.  We were pretty packed in here but we made it thru the weekend just fine.  We all went to Sawgrass Lake Park on Saturday afternoon.  Aidan rode with me on my scooter for about 3/4 of the time.  The rest of the time he ran around on the boardwalk.  He was fascinated with the alligators.  Today before we took them to the airport, he and I rode around the park.  He kept pointing and saying "What's that?"  He is vocalizing a bunch more and he said a few words while he was here.  I can't wait to hear him cut loose and talk.

Megan and Danny love my camera (the red one with the small zoom lens) and they both love taking pictures.  Kelly does too.  Kelly's got a good eye for a good picture and Megan's also developing that skill.  Danny took some good ones, too.  I have over 250 pix to go thru and edit!!

Tomorrow we go back to a "normal" routine!

Wednesday

I had a first today - my first HOA meeting as a board member.  It went very well.  The home owners were very respectful and the meeting took place without a hitch.

Dave and I hadn't seen the "big" water for over 2 weeks, so we went to John's Pass for lunch.  We saw 3 dolphins and enjoyed a beautiful hour or so watching the calm water.  After that we drove to the orange place and got an ice cream cone, plus a bag of honey bell oranges!  They are so good!

Had an enjoyable evening playing cards tonight.  We won without even having to count.

B&B

Bowling wasn't too bad today - not great, but passable!  We only had 12 of us, so it went fast.  Lunch was at The Dugout.  It's always good!  We got bad news at lunch today.  One of the guys in the park was found dead this morning.  His wife is in Ohio, so she's coming home tomorrow morning.

Bingo was a little better.  I won $32!  Yay!  I didn't win last week, so that was a good night.

Monday

I attended my first official board meeting this morning.  There's lots of "business" that goes on in these meetings.  I enjoyed it.  Now we have our first official HOA meeting on Wednesday.  That will be different.

I have been cold all day today and that's so unlike me!  I'll be really mad at my brother if he gave me his cold!

Poop!

I am NOT a Patriots fan, but I have to say that was pretty awesome!  I don't know what happened to Atlanta.  I would have loved to have seen them win but it wasn't to be!

We had a fun Super Bowl party and Lady Gaga rocked the clubhouse!  She was awesome!  Church was wonderful today.  Did you know that Jesus was from South Israel and said, "y'all"?  Me either, but Pastor Jack had us rolling in the aisles today with Jesus' southern accent!

Speaking of southern accents, 13 of us went to see "Doublewide, Texas" this afternoon.  It was at West Coast Players theater.  It was hilarious!!

Saturday means...

Saturday means shuffleboard and it was certainly a beautiful day for it.  Too bad I didn't play well.  Actually I played well my first game, but still ended up getting beat.  The second game was awful!  I kept score the 3rd game.  Sometimes I like that better!

This afternoon Dave took a nap while I played some of my games.  Then I went in to read and fell asleep.  I missed the Cyclone basketball game...bummer.  We beat KU in Lawrence in overtime!  Way to go, Cyclones!

I also got notes out to a bunch of my "guys" about a Florida get-together in October.

Friday

We didn't go any where to enjoy the sun today.  We just hung around here.  I had a bunch of  typing to do - we're re-doing the directory and I get to type it!!  I got done with everything I had today, but I'm probably only halfway done.

We're also getting ready for the kids to come.  We've got Bryan and Erin's "honeymoon" suite ready for them, complete with a bed for Aidan!

Tonight 17 of us played cards.  I switched off with another lady.  She played 2 hands and I played 2 hands.  Still lost!

Thursday

I guess I forgot to blog last night.  I didn't do much yesterday.  In fact, I ached all over so after  coffee, I came home and went back to bed.  I finally got up around 2:30 and felt much better.  Went to cards and that's it.

Today was a big day.  Six of us from Holiday Ranch went to training about Florida 723 - laws which cover mobile home owners.  It was a very informative meeting with a couple of good speakers and a couple of not-so-good speakers!  Tonight the Iowegians played trivia again.  We didn't do so well tonight.  The questions this evening were really hard!  The beer round was Tom Hanks' movies.  We didn't fare well at all.
