Gorgeous today

We had a beautiful day here - warm, but not too hot.  We had the house opened up from the time we came home from lunch.  This morning we went to church, of course.  Then the Lunch Bunch went to the Recovery Room - there were 17 of us today.  Must have been the nice weather!  Dave announced that we had sold our house today at church and he asked for a couple of helpers to move the boxes out of the house so he could pack them in our trailer.  Dave decided that since we're going tomorrow to see a condo in Waterloo that looks very promising we'd take some boxes/furniture up to Cedar Falls with us. Bryan rented us a storage shed, so the stuff we're taking up will go there.  I sure hope we don't need anything that he packed!!  We almost ended up with more people than we had boxes!  I think there were 9 or so people out there.  Didn't take them long to get things moved outside!

I continue my quest to get all of these ancestors put onto the computer.  I'm sure glad that so many of these pictures have names on them, cause some of these pix are really old!  It's been fun seeing who all they are and figuring out the lineage.  I've divided them out into Allisons/Potts, Peebler/Rodibaugh, and then Frushour/Shroyer.  I've also got a stack of pictures of me that I'm going to put on here, too.  Hope I can get them done in a day or two.

SaturdayDW

Three ladies and I left for Des Moines early this morning to attend the PEO convention.  We were working the Lost & Found/Information table.  It was lots of fun!  The convention was well attended...372 delegates out of 393 chapters!

Parking at the Marriott was non-existent...as well as all of the parking garages in the area.  We finally found a single parking spot on the street about 3 blocks away.  Thank goodness we didn't have to feed the meter - it was 12 minutes for a quarter!

When we left DSM it was 76, when we drove into O-town it was only 61!  It's supposed to be in the 40's tonight.  Yuck!

What a mess!

Yes, we are in a terrible mess around here!  We have things everywhere!  Dave is going to pack tomorrow while I go to the PEO Convention.  I did my part by going through both hutches and all of the kitchen cabinets.  There are enough things for him to pack that he won't run out of things to do tomorrow.  We have 4 different piles - stuff that we need for the next 3-4 weeks, stuff to move north with us, stuff to take to Florida, and stuff for an auction/garage sale!  Oh, and...our trash cans are also full!

Thursday

Dave went to work today.  He said he had mud flying in some of the fields he visited and in others it was dry.  He checked 3,000 acres today!  As for me, I worked on putting some of my ancestors' pix on my computer.  I'm hoping to get rid of the actual pictures after I check with my cousins to see if any of them want the originals.  I'm also putting on death notices and obituaries, as well as marriage certificates, etc.  Time consuming, but fun to see the relatives!

I also pulled out my china plates (hand painted) and depression glass.  I'll be taking pix of all of them to see if my nieces want any of those pieces before I pack them for the move.  We've got several crystal pieces and silver pieces that won't be going with us.  I did get all of Aunt Helen's paintings in an album on Facebook, along with an album of quilts and one of misc. stuff.  That way my nieces can decide what all they want and let me know. It's hard to get them all together so this is working!!

We both had an appointment with Dr Hill this afternoon.  He cut two sebaceous cysts off of Dave, plus he burned off some pre-cancerous spots.  Then he burned off 10 keratoses  from my skin.  Then we headed to Washington for Allison's doubleheader.  Unfortunately they lost the first one and we had a half hour delay for lightning.  When they finally started back up it was raining and we didn't want to sit in the rain, so we went to Unc & Neph's for dinner and then came home - still raining!  We saw 3 deer, a raccoon and an opossum - all crossing the road!  It was not fun driving home, but the sunset was gorgeous!!

We're moving!

The buyers' loan was approved, so as long as everything passes the inspections, we need to find us a place to live!  It finally hit me tonight that we're going to be moving and I shed some tears.  I guess it doesn't really matter where we are, as long as we're together.  We're heading north again Monday to look at more places.  Sure hope we find one!!

Soggy Again

This morning, we woke up to rain again...quite a bit of rain - like about 1.5" of rain!  Bob & I went to the cemeteries around 9:45 and picked up the flowers.  It wasn't too bad until we went down to the Allisons' plots in the far lower corner...there it was really wet!!  We counted and found out that we put out 39 different flowers at Fell Cemetery and 15 at Batavia.  That's a bunch of flowers!!  We came home and I helped Bob put them away for another year.  We only got sprinkled on in Batavia with the sun shining on us in Libertyville.

Tonight we had Sue & Craig come in for pizza.  What a fun night we had!  Lots of lively conversation and laughs!!

Gorgeous day

We had a beautiful day here.  I had windows and doors open all day!  Love this kind of weather.

Dave started sorting through some stuff today, so I did also.  I worked in my studio trying to get things ready to sell either in an auction or in a yard sale.  We also worked in the basement - me sorting through pictures and Dave going through other stuff.  Then about 2:30 Bryan called and he stopped through on his way home from S Missouri.  It was fun to see him.  He took some things home with him and he told us a few more things he wants.

Drizzly Sunday

This was a very dreary damp day!  Church was great.  Pastor David talked about when the disciples received the Holy Spirit!  It was good!  After church we went to 2nd Street Cafe with the Lunch Bunch.  Then we came home and both took naps.

This evening we watched National Treasure #2.  Last night we watched the original and tonight the sequel.  Very good movies.  I see they made #3, so we'll have to try to rent it.

Busy 48 hours!

Yesterday morning bright and early, we went to Waverly to try to find a place to live.  The day was pretty much a bust although we did find a condo that would work.  We're going to try to find something in Cedar Falls...maybe we'll have better luck.  I'm here to tell you that for the most part pictures of homes are totally misleading!  The houses we saw looked pretty good in the pictures, but were completely awful in person.  We've still got some time, so we'll keep looking.

The day wasn't a complete bust, though.  Dave had misplaced his rings and yesterday afternoon he found them in the pocket of the shorts he was wearing.  They'd even been through the wash!!  We also got to have lunch at The Fainting Goat - cute place and good chicken!

Today we had to be in Burlington at 8:30 for a softball game.  The girls won their first game, but lost the second one.  We came home after it and after eating lunch at the Maidrite Diner!  Dave needed to mow the yard, so he took a short nap after we got home and then mowed.

My peonies are beautiful today.  Some of them are as big around as a salad plate and as tall as my armpit.

This pink one smells wonderful and it's huge!

Patience...

Today was an exercise in patience for me.  First of all, our cleaning lady is usually here at 8:00 AM and this morning she didn't come until after 9:00.  She had told Dave that she'd be here after her dental appointment, but Dave forgot that.  Then at 10 I had a massage...that was heavenly!!  Then there was something with the buyers' bank that needs to be resolved, but he works there so hopefully that will get straightened out.  Then after my massage, we went to the cemetery to decorate the graves.  While I was walking down to the Allison section, the guy from Whitneys came into the cemetery.  Bob, Dave & Ann talked to him about Mom & Dad's stone while I waited.  Thank goodness Sheri Blough put in a stone that had a bench incorporated for Bob Blough.  I sat and listened to the sounds of the cemetery.

When we got back to O-town, I had an appointment for my computers to get things switched from one to the other.  I figured I'd just wait for it because he told me it was probably only a half hour job...no, it won't be ready until tomorrow.  So tonight I've had to sit at my desk or use Dave's laptop which doesn't have all of my solitaire games on it...grrr!!   Patience, Grasshopper!

Well...

We accepted an offer on our house tonight.  Now we just have to wait and do all of the inspections and see if we can find a place to live.  Hopefully everything will go well and it will all go through.  We don't have a lot of time to find something, but we will.

Too cold!

I was going to mow today, but it was too darn cold!  I worked inside instead.  I did have to go to the credit union to take a deposit.  I also folded laundry that Dave put in before he left for work and I paid bills.

Tonight I had sorority and got home in time to see the fusion dance on the DWTS finale.  I'm so glad that Rumer & Val won.  She was so classy the entire season!

Misleading!!

I figured it was nice out this morning since the sun was shining so brightly...wrong again!  It was downright cold!  I wore shorts and a tank top as usual to BRT, and going from the car into the church I about froze.  It was warm in the church, though!

The rest of the day was just kind of boring.  I came home and put on a flannel shirt over my tank top!  I did some paperwork and even colored a couple of flowers for cards.  But other than that, I didn't do much.  I did get the June newsletter emailed to the Ranch to get it printed.  I also got a schedule of all of Allison's games in May & June, so they're all on my calendar.  Now, come on weather, let's cooperate!

Beautiful day

I remember as a teenager on a Sunday afternoon, lying down on my bed with my head by the open west window sleeping in the wind!  Today reminded me of that.  Since we had to be gone for a couple of hours during our open house, we went to the park with our books.  I got tired reading, so I put my seat back and napped with the wind hitting my face just like it did back in Libertyville when I was a kid!  It was a wonderful feeling.

We had a good  day - church where we honored the OHS grads in our congregation and then bunch for lunch at Bubba Q's.  We ran home, turned on all of the lights, and left for the park.  After the open house was over, we went to a graduation party for one of the young ladies in our church.  She was an orphan in Russia who was adopted when she was 3.  She is a remarkable young lady.  In fact, 3 of our 5 graduates in attendance were adopted from Russia!

Finally we got to come home - we were gone basically from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM!  That was a long day!  Good crowd from the open house.  Some were just lookers, but others are thinking of buying.

Nice day

When I woke up this morning, I was fiddling with my necklace and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on my neck.  Come to find out, somehow it had gotten a knot in it during the night.  I was able to get the heart off of it, but I couldn't get the knot out while it was on my neck...and it wasn't coming off because of the knot.  Dave went with me out to Bookins and one of the gals was able to get it off of my neck and get the knot out.  Still can't figure out how that happened!

While we were out that direction, Dave wanted to look at the used campers on the Vaughn's lot.  One of them was a '13 model and it wasn't too bad.  The other one was kind of cheap looking inside and didn't have a king sized bed.  So we took off for Bowling Motors to look at their inventory.  We found a couple we really like (in case our house sells!)  We'll see.

Speaking of the house, it got shown again this afternoon.  Since we had to be out of the house, we went to Eisenhower Elementary to see the baby ducks - there are 3 of them this year.  It started sprinkling on us so we headed back.  We went by the house and saw that the lookers hadn't been here yet, so Dave ran upstairs to get our Kindles and we took off for the park.  It was nice sitting there until the sprinkles got heavier and then we had to roll up the windows!  So we checked again and the lookers were gone this time.  It's so nice coming home!!  Tomorrow is an open house from 1-2:30 so we'll have to figure out somewhere to go again!

Glad this day is over!

This morning, both Dave and I had appointments with Dr Hill at 9:30 and I had a PEO meeting at 11:00.  No problem getting to Fairfield and back by 11:00, right?  Wrong!  I got to my meeting at 11:18 - just a bit late.  I didn't really miss much.  This was our spring luncheon and we had our business meeting prior to lunch, which worked out really well.  Lunch was scrumptious, ladies!

After that Dave and I took off for Cantril around 1:30.  They were showing our house at 4:00, so we needed to be gone for at least an hour.  We made detours into Libertyville and then into Douds...we were looking for wild male turkeys.  We only saw 1 and it was a hen.  After the Dutchman's Store, we drove through Lacey Park where we saw 5 deer - everything is so lush and green!  On the way back, we took our time - saw lots of corn up and I saw one field of beans that were up, too.  The ground was really wet down in there and there looked to be more rain coming from the SW.  We didn't get back to our place until 5:15 and the lookers were still here.  We went to Drug Town to get some beer and a hanging plant and then drove through IHCC and came back by - still here!  We both had to go to the restroom, so we went to HyVee and used their facilities.  As we came back by our house, the lookers were just pulling out - 1 hour and 45 minutes later!!

Now Dave is asleep in his chair and has been since about 8:00.  I'm ready to go to bed - hope he can sleep!

Soggy!

The weather today was only fit for ducks.  It either rained or drizzled all day.  Sudi and Blaise both have birthdays today - I sure hope they enjoyed them!  Blaise's 1 year pix are adorable - little Mr. Blue Eyes himself!

We've got another showing tomorrow and an open house on Sunday.  Our realtor thinks we're going to get an offer on Sunday from the kids we want to buy it!  The showing tomorrow is a repeat showing.  Gee, maybe we'll get 2 offers - wouldn't that be funny!!  I'm not holding my breath!

Tomorrow is a busy day - a quick trip to the doctor, then home for PEO, then leave again for a showing.  Busy, busy!!

Wednesday

Today was a bit boring.  I did make 2 wedding cards and 2 graduation cards, though.  I also paid the bills that were on my desk and did some filing.  I tried to move around a bunch today.  Last night when I went upstairs, I immediately was sick...got the dry heaves, was drenched in sweat, and felt really, really weird.  Within about 20 minutes, I felt fine.  I felt like my neck was way out of alignment, so I went to the chiropractor today.  He really worked me over and tonight I am sore, but I'm hoping I don't have any more episodes like the one last night.

Chilly again!

It was another chilly day here in the Heartland.  When I went to get my hair cut at 11:00, I was certainly glad I had on a sweatshirt.  The sun was shining beautifully though, and by the time I got done, it seemed much warmer out.  No wind today to speak of.

This afternoon, I had to give blood and I didn't even need my sweatshirt - yay!!  I like this much better!  I did, however, turn the furnace back on because our house was cold.

Speaking of the  house, we are having another open house this Sunday.  I have a few days to get things back in order.  I've been working on some graduation and wedding cards, so I've got a messy craft studio.  The rest of the house looks pretty good.

COLD!!

It is cold here!  I even had to put on socks just to stay warm this evening!  Those of you who know me well, know that I am really cold to wear socks!  I usually wear long pants before I put on socks!  It maybe got up to 60 but the wind was really blowing hard.  We've got sticks in our yard!

We showed the house again today.  They weren't here very long, so I don't think they were very interested.

Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Even if we're not biological mothers, we still had a mother and can celebrate her!  I did get  calls from both kids, wishing me a Happy Mother's Day.  That is always a nice surprise.  I love those two!!

We had to be out of the house again today.  These people stayed for about  an hour.  We came back a bit too early, so I drove to the park on Elm and Dave watched from St Joe's.  He called me when they left so I could come home.  This was all after we'd been in Walmart where Dave got his hair cut while I got groceries.

Lunch today was wonderful and so much that we didn't even think about eating dinner tonight.  We went to the country club with Bob & Ann.  Fun times!  Saw a lot of people we hadn't seen for a while.

Fun Saturday

We had a great day today.  This morning we went to the Habitat home to meet Senator Joni Ernst.  She was very gracious and we had a great turnout.  Lots of people there helping the new homeowner get her hours in.

Then we went to Fairfield to see Sudi & Howard and to have a hamburger at The Cider House...their burgers were just named the best burger in Iowa.  It didn't open until 4:00!  So we went to George's for lunch.  We spent 2 hours there enjoying gabbing with our friends and then home.  Dave mowed and I took a nap.  Now Dave's asleep in his chair!!

Great day!

First thing this morning, I returned the rental car and then went to Vaughn's to get my SRX back!  Yay - it looks just like new!!  Not a sign of a wreck at all!  Thank goodness!

Played cards this afternoon - there were 8 of us here.  Our realtor called and wanted to show the house during the card party and I had to turn her down!  But she called 3 more times and set up 2 showings for tomorrow and 1 for Sunday.  I have a feeling that our house will sell this weekend.  Just feel it in my gut.

This evening Dave and I went to Tuscany for dinner.  Boy was that ever good!!

Fun day

We showed the house again.  They were here about an hour - she really liked the house and he's coming this weekend to see it.  Then this afternoon, I went to church to work the food pantry.  Then about 4:15 I went home to pick up my camera and my stadium seat and headed to Allison's track meet here in O-town.  She did a great job.  Unfortunately they didn't give the scores of the meet, so we have no idea where the team ended up.

After the way it rained this afternoon, I didn't know if we'd even get to have the meet, but the weather was great  - hot and humid!

Good day!

I had an appointment with my neurologist in Iowa City today.  I hadn't said anything, but I was a little worried that my shakes had gotten worse and hoped I passed all of the tests.  I did!!  Dave even went with me because he said he was worried that I might get bad news and he didn't want me there by myself.  We didn't talk about any of this until on the way home, though, so neither one of us knew what the other was thinking.  He even went into the exam room with me!

On the way home, we stopped at Four Corners in Ainsworth for lunch.  It poured on us around Fairfield, but Dave was able to mow our yard when we got home.  No rain here!

Great dAY

Another beautiful day here!  I had the windows open again.   Today I had visits from the first hummingbirds of the season!  There were at least two different ones - a male and a female, but numerous visits!  They are so tiny at this time of the year!

Today we had an appointment with our financial advisor and got things prepared for the rest of the summer.  Tonight I had a sorority meeting - first one since October.  It was good to see the ladies again!

Monday

Another beautiful day here in SE Iowa.  We got up and going early.   I had to have my SRX out at Vaughn's Collision Center at 8:00 and after that I had to pick up my rental car - a Hundai Sorrento.  It's a cute little car, with the operative word being little.

Once we did those things, we dropped my little car here at home and I drove Dave to Eldon to pick up his work truck from CPS.  He's working some now but will start training summer interns in a couple of weeks.  Bible Study was good this morning also.

This evening we watched DWTS and now we're watching the Cubs vs Cardinals ball game.

Super Sunday

I love Sundays!  I love going to church and being inspired to be the kind of person God means for me to be.  Our sermon today was very powerful and so was the choir's anthem.  As always, we were welcomed home with open arms!  After church 13 of us went to Riverside for lunch.  They were showing our house at 10:00 and then the people came back with their parents at 11:30.  Haven't heard anything more, but who knows!

I had windows open today...in fact, the ones upstairs are still open!  It was so much nicer outside than it was inside!

New computer hooked up

Dave and I went out to Walmart and bought me a new computer last night.  I'm still having some troubles and know that my hard drive is about to crash.  It's been limping along for about 2 weeks now.  This is being typed on my new "red" computer!  It's got Windows 8.1 but so far I like it and haven't had any problems finding things!  Now if I could just figure out how to transfer my programs from my old computer to this one...hmmmm.
