Yesterday & Today

I didn't feel like writing last night - maybe I had a bit of writer's block...just couldn't think of anything I wanted to say.  Vicki and her family went home yesterday afternoon.  We had coffee at the clubhouse and then Dave & I went to JD's for salad.  We sat outside - it was gorgeous!  Then last night, I went to play cards.  Ann and I were partners and we won!

Today I got to sleep in a bit.  When Dave got home this morning, we went to the doc's office to get my stitches out.  Wow!  Did that ever hurt!  The doc ties the stitches really snug so the skin had grown over them.  It took the 3rd person before they were able to get them out!  He wants to see me again before we go home, but he didn't mention physical therapy!  Yay!  He said I could ride my bike, so this afternoon we rode for a short bit.  It was a little difficult because I hadn't ridden for a while.  So we cut it short and I came home and iced my knee which felt really good!  We'll try again tomorrow.  I still can't get my knee wet for a couple of days...bummer.  I had Dave put the Saran Wrap away this morning because I knew I was getting rid of all bandages...NOT!

Soggy Baseball

We did our bowling thing this morning and after bowling we went to Brighthouse Field to watch the Phillies vs the Yankees.  It sprinkled on us the whole time.  Fortunately we were under an overhang so we didn't get too wet!  The lightning came in the 4th inning so we left and they eventually cancelled the game.  It's still raining here!

Sunday & Monday

Church was wonderful yesterday.  Easter should be wonderful!  After church we stopped at Winn Dixie to buy some chicken and we took off for Howard Park in Tarpon Springs.  Bob, Ann, Vicki and her family, Barb & Gary, and us were there to spend Easter on the beach.  It was a beautiful day to spend on the beach.  Not too hot with a lovely breeze.  We saw a whole bunch of dolphins, too!

Today started out a little slow, but we got going finally.  Vicki and Allison came over to chat with me and I was still in my nightgown!  This evening we all went to the Post Corner for pizza!

Saturday

We went to the Largo Nature Park this morning - kids, Jami, Vicki, and us.  We had a great day.  Saw lots of critters!  Boy, did it ever get hot and humid out there today!  We even ate lunch in the a/c because it was too sticky on the lanai!  After lunch the kids left and Dave and I sort of crashed.  We're tired and stuffed with food!  We don't normally eat like that!!

Soggy Friday

We wanted to be able to go to the beach today - I guess the kids hadn't been to the beach on this side of the state.  Yesterday wasn't a good day and neither was today.  It rained about 3/4 of an inch about the time we were ready to go.I finally gave up and took a nap - I love to sleep with the rain on the roof!  While I was asleep, the family went to Sand Key and the kids did get to enjoy the beach.  They found some sea "stuff" like a basket starfish carcass and a lightning whelk shell casing, along with some sponges, etc.

Something else exciting today, Aidan got a big-boy haircut!

He looks so cute!

My Cyclones struggled tonight, darn it.  This was not a good night to have a bad game.  Virginia was just too good.

Got company

We have company - Jami and the kids came last night.  They'll be here until Saturday afternoon.  Then last night, too, my youngest niece and her family came to visit with Bob.  I hate it that they're here at the same time.  I need to be able to split myself into two people so I can  do things with both families.  :(

Today we went to Sarasota to see Roberta and Dave's brother's youngest daughter and her family.  The kids played so hard that they are all pooped!

We had bad news here in the park.  One of our guys passed away - he's been in Canada for the past 6-8 weeks trying to get an ulcer fixed.  Must have been something more than an ulcer!  We've lost 4 people this season...sad deal.

Day after

Don't have much pain at all.  When I walk, it twinges a bit, but nothing like I had before surgery...I think that's good.  We went up to the clubhouse for lunch today again.  I used a cane just to take a little pressure off it.  I had a hard time sleeping last night, but I finally got onto my right side and then I slept for about 4 hours.  Hope I can do that again tonight - not the 4 hours part, but the side sleeping.  I'm not used to sleeping on my back.

Yippee -

The hardest part is over!  My surgery seems to have gone well.  Dr W told Dave he did quite a bit of work in there!  I got to the hospital at 6 AM and went back to the OR holding room about 7:30.  I was busy that whole time - they did a blood workup, an EKG, put in an IV, and various other things - time just flew by.  I'd taken my Kindle but I didn't even get to open it.  Once I got to the holding room, I could have read, but I didn't have my glasses so I couldn't.  I was only in there about 30 minutes, I suppose - no clock that I could see.  They added a nausea patch behind my ear and some relaxation drug to my IV.  By the time I got to the OR things went fast!  I was awake by 10:30 with NO NAUSEA - yay!!  We were home and up  at the clubhouse eating lunch at 1:15!  This knee hurts much more than the last time I had this done...and my throat really hurts.  I guess I had a breathing tube and it made my throat sore.   Don't remember any of that before.  I keep trying to move my leg, but it hurts a bunch especially on the outside incision.  That's it.  I'll try not to complain any more.  Sure hope I can get some sleep tonight.

Nervous!

I'm trying really hard to stay calm, but I must admit that I am a little nervous about my surgery tomorrow.  I hope I can get a little sleep tonight, but I'm not counting on sleeping much.  I'll read and maybe I'll get to sleep after a while.  We've been watching basketball all day - the Hawks looked terrible and UNI is struggling a bit right now.

Church was great as usual.  For lunch we went to Scully's at John's Pass.  We were hoping to see some dolphins while we were there.  We saw one right away and then within a few minutes we saw a pod of 7!!  That was fun!

"Sweet" Saturday

We had our monthly breakfast this morning - good as usual!  Then shortly after Dave got home from doing dishes, the rain started!  I love to hear the rain on our roof!  It is so soothing.

After a nap, I fixed a casserole and got it in the oven so it would be ready at halftime of the Cyclone vs UALR game.  We won and are now in the Sweet Sixteen!!  Way to go Cyclones!

Beautiful day!

It was another beautiful day in the neighborhood!  We had a fun day.  We went to the Legion where we met Bob & Ann, Gary & Barb.  Then Marilyn joined us and Sudi & Howard stopped in, too.  Good food, beautiful view, and good friends.  Can't ask for more!  Well, we could have seen dolphins, but that was asking too much evidently!

I took a short nap this afternoon and then we watched the last of the Iowa game.  At cards tonight, we lost...but it was close!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

I had a good day today!  Dave went to church to work and because I have had so much sleep in the past few days, I was up at 6:00 - yuck!  At least I got to see him off today!  I continue to feel a bit better and am not coughing so much.  My sinuses are still pretty full though.  So far I still believe it's all allergies and I continue to take my Zyrtec D.

My Cyclones won today in the NCAA Tournament - they again made me a little nervous before they won.  Because of that, my stomach has hurt pretty bad all evening.  I went to the potato bake tonight, but I left right after I ate.  I was so hot and had this pain in my tummy.  It feels better when I'm lying down so I guess I'll just go lie down!

We were also able to find the Cubs game on TV this evening and they won, too.  Great day.  Tomorrow sounds like another beautiful day.  We're planning to go to the Legion and enjoy the sun and water.

Wednesday

Nothing special today.  Just went to coffee this morning and then came home to two naps...one this morning and one this afternoon.  Fun day, huh?  Now tonight I'm sitting here on the computer while Dave is sound asleep in his chair!  We live such an exciting life!

Better!

I'm feeling a little better today.  I actually left the house a couple of times today.  I didn't go bowling because when I'm not bowling, I sit under an a/c vent and freeze!  That wouldn't make my sinuses feel any better, I'm telling you!  I went up to the office this afternoon to ask Justin to print our notebook.  Then tonight I actually went to bingo.  I enjoyed myself, but I didn't win!

Still yuck

I'm still feeling under the weather, but I only slept for a couple of hours today.  Said goodbye to my niece, Linda, who flew back to Iowa.  Then I said goodbye to Rosemarie also.  She's heading back to Canada.  She's a sweetie - we'll miss her!

The pollen outside is still horrible so I'm trying to stay inside.  I didn't even go play cards tonight!

Yuck

The pollen really got to me last night and today.  I couldn't even begin to sleep, so I sat up in my chair.  I took an allergy pill, but took it quite a bit after I should have.  So by the time I got ready for bed, my head hurt, I was stopped up, and I was coughing so hard that my ribs hurt.  I didn't even go to church.  I stayed home and slept.  Then this afternoon I slept some more.  I feel a bit more like I'm going to live tonight.  I think when the rain came through, that moved the low pressure out of our area!  I can actually breathe through my nose tonight but I'm still taking another allergy pill and some Tylenol before I try to sleep tonight.

Big Saturday

When I got up this morning, Dave had left the tax papers on the kitchen table so I'd have to work on them today.  I'm a procrastinator and he doesn't appreciate that part of my character.  So today we got to work on getting everything together.  That actually took the majority of the day.  We did get a little nap in this afternoon.

Then at 5:30 we left for Cheddars with Bob, Ann, Linda, and Rosemary.  Rosemary has sold her unit and will be leaving for Canada on Tuesday.  We'll miss her.  She's been here for 18 years, but her husband died a few years ago and she just needed to have only 1 home.  She's 80, but you'd never know it!

Ooops!

First thing this morning I got a call from the doctor's office.  She goofed.  The doctor is not available on Monday...so now my surgery is scheduled for the next Monday (the 21st).  Darn.

At noon today we went to the Legion.  It was beautiful there today...a little warm, but very nice.  Plus, it wasn't horribly crowded.  Again we didn't see any dolphins.

Tonight at cards...I won for the second time in a row.  Yay!

Thursday

This was a gorgeous day - hot  but windy!  We started our day off at the surgeon's office.  My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 14th of March!  I'm scheduled early in the morning and will find out the time for sure when the hospital calls tomorrow.

Tonight we went with Bob, Ann, and Linda to the beach to watch the sun set.  Then to PJ's for supper with Heckarts.  Fun day.  I just finished watching my Cyclones lose to Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament.  Bummer!

Tuesday

Wow, I'm still getting birthday greetings!  This has been a special birthday for sure!  After bowling today, we went to the Outback for lunch.  Since I never do this, Dave encouraged me to order a filet mignon.  I'm so glad I did - it was delicious.  I also had a wonderful side salad and a baked potato.  I only ate half of my steak and half of my potato, so I have another day to enjoy them both.  That doesn't make that filet so expensive!  Then the wait staff presented me with a hot fudge sundae on a bed of Oreos...yum!  They brought a bunch of spoons so I shared it around the table!

Tonight at bingo I won $33 and got yet another birthday card and several greetings!

My birth day

I have a really hard time believing that I'm 68 years old.  Most of the time (if I forget the aches and pains) I think I'm still in high school.  I guess that's because so many of my high school friends have remained close all these years.  I am so grateful for all of the wishes I received today.  I'm also so grateful for Dave.  He bought a big birthday cake and we shared it with 50 of our friends!

Fun Day

After church this morning, we came home, changed clothes, and at noon took off for Parrish, FL to ride on the Skeeter Meteor train and help solve a murder mystery.  It was a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon with 16 friends/relatives from the park.  My oldest niece got in late last night so she got to go with us on our journey.  None of the five of our family picked the murderer, but we had a fun time trying.  Dave got the "clueless" award for writing his own mystery!  We got on the train at 2:00 and off the train at 5:15.

Now we're home and waiting for Downton Abbey to come on.  Tonight is the last episode...I'm going to hate this.  I love this show and can't imagine not visiting the Crawley family every week.

Saturday

It was kind of chilly here today, but when you got in the sun it was very warm.  The sun has lots of power to it now.  I took a couple of rides on Clarabelle today.  I just needed to get some fresh air.  It took me about 40 minutes to get around the park, which is a 1.5 mile lap through all the streets.  There were lots of people out who wanted to chat.  I think everyone's tired of this winter!

We went to Cheddars tonight with Barb, Gary, Bob, and Ann.  Good food and good to get caught up with happenings in O-town.

Beautiful day

What a gorgeous day - it was perfect for sitting out at The Legion!  Great surprise too!  Sudi and Howard came in - it was so good to see them!  I got a pretty good sunburn there today and didn't roast doing it.

Guess what?  I WON at cards tonight!  I don't know how long it's been since I've won - it felt good!

Loved today!

First of all, it was a gorgeous day out!  Mid 70's and plentiful sunshine!  Plus, I got to sleep a little later than usual because Dave went to church to work on the grounds.  When he came home, we decided to take off for Sawgrass Lake Park and we had a wonderful day!  We saw lots of wildlife - a momma alligator and 8 of her babies, several small alligators, herons, ibis, flowers, beautiful vegetation, and NO snakes...even though others were posting pix of many snakes!  I consider that a very successful day!  We also saw raccoons and armadillos and ducks and a big turtle or tortoise, I don't know which.

What a fun day!!

Wednesday

I think I've finally gotten the cookbook dilemma figured out.  Yay!  Maybe my stomach will finally calm down!  I've also finally gotten an appointment with the surgeon.  I meet with the doctor on Thursday of next week.  Oops - there goes my stomach again!!

We found out that a friend from O-town passed away today. He was a good guy!

Lost again at cards tonight!

B&B

Bowling had a good crowd this morning!  We had 19 bowlers.  There were some good scores and some bad scores!  My brother had 2 good games...we won't mention the third game, though.  He bowled a 165 his first game and a 137 his second game!  Good job, Bob!  After bowling, we went to Rumba's for lunch.  It's a wonderful restaurant where you sit outside.  It's a little more upscale than the restaurants we usually go to, but it's good to go there once in a while.

At bingo tonight, I won $5.00 - whoopee!  At least I won!  I split with another lady or I'd have won $10, which would have paid for my bingo (because I spend $9.50 to play).  One lady won over $150 - she won both of the big games - one for $87 and one for $34.50, plus at least 2 other games!  She was really hot tonight.
