Thursday

Dave got tired of working today so we went for a walk at Sawgrass Lake Park.  Didn't see even 1 alligator, or anhinga!  We did have a tri-colored heron land right in front of us.

It was pretty hot there, so I'm not surprised that we didn't see any critters!

Tonight was our halloween party.  I went as a pink lady!

Loved my hair - hated to wash it out!

Wednesday

We started out at coffee this morning.  Then Dave and I both had appointments with the dentist...our semi-annual cleaning and exam by the dentist.  Dave needs a new crown and insurance won't pay for it.  I need a crown and a filling replaced.  What fun!  There goes a bunch of cash!

Tuesday

I met with my oncologist today.  He checked me to see if I had any new lumps and didn't find anything.  He scheduled me for a mammogram Thursday morning.

We had another really humid, hot day today.  It rained tonight and it's not as humid.  Hope that means tomorrow will be nicer.

Tonight I went to El Dorado to play bingo with the ladies.  No one at our table won, but there was no chaos!  So it was a very pleasant evening.  Their caller is going to call for us...on Monday nights.  We're changing our bingo night!

Monday

We went for our walk early this morning - before taking a shower!  It was still hot - very, very humid!  I got really hot, so when I got home I got in the shower.  Unfortunately that made me hotter, so I had to sit down for a while - I was almost sick at my stomach.  Thankfully it went away after I got cooled down.

This afternoon, after we got our car back, we had some errands to run.  The temp was 91, but it felt like 101.  This is almost November and we're having record heat.

Played cards tonight and I still got to watch DWTS.

Sunday

Dave took our car over to Goodyear early this morning.  Unfortunately they couldn't fix the tire and they didn't have a new one to fit our car, so we had to miss church and lunch with Sudi & Howard.  Bummer!  They kept the car there because they should have a new tire for us in the morning.  That's strike #2 for the Cadillac.  It'd better work hard not to get strike #3!!

Since we were grounded, we went up to the clubhouse for Ken A's memorial.  There were about 50 people there celebrating Ken's life.

Walked around the  park today and when we got home, my Fitbit said I'd walked 5 steps.  Hmm?  I think something was wrong.  It's my old Fitbit and I hardly ever use it.  I'll switch back to my newer one in the morning!

Saturday

This was sure a sticky day.  I went to Walmart this morning just to get a few things.  It was too hot for me to walk outside, so shopping had to be my exercise for the day.  Dave sprayed weeds at Gary's, Bob & Ann's, Ron's, and several others in the neighborhood.

This afternoon, I watched the first half of the Cyclone game and then I couldn't get the rest of the game.

We decided to go get a shake this evening..  Shouldn't have!  When we were coming home we heard big clunks like we had a flat tire.  None of the tires were flat, though.  After closer inspection in our own driveway, there's a large Allen wrench stuck in one of the tires.  Say what??  How does that happen?  Anyway, it's back to the shop for the car.

Friday

Dave and I went on a photo walk this morning at the Botanical Gardens.  It was a hot, hot morning - I had sweat just running off of me - into my eyes and everything.  I sure hope we got some good pictures!

After the walk, we stopped at Sam's Club, then to Bealls and to Publix.  Then we met some friends at the Legion where it took forever to get our lunch.  It was beautiful on the water!  Nice breeze!

Thursday

Well. we found out today that the Cadillac's computer system is shot, as well as the air conditioning.  They will be putting in all new systems to the tune of $4,000+.  Good thing Dave bought an extended warranty on it.  Our portion will only be $100 plus a portion of the rental car...depending on when they get the car done.  Some friends who were parked across the street from us had the same issue on their Chevy pickup.  Chevy told them lightning hit a bunch of cars in our area a week or so ago; they had already repaired 8 vehicles!  I wonder if that's what happened to ours.  Seems likely to me.

Also found out that Oaklyn's surgery is scheduled for Nov. 12th unless a cancellation comes up first.  She's first on the waiting list.  Please keep praying for her!

Bryan sent us a video last night of Kaitlyn walking!!  She's so cute - very dainty steps!

Wednesday

Coffee in the clubhouse on Wednesday mornings...we forgot!  I got up there about 9:05 (5 minutes late) and Dave got there a few minutes after I arrived.  Dave didn't stay, but I did.  After coffee I took my walk.  It was gorgeous here today.  We even turned off  the air and opened windows!

Dave took the car to the Cadillac dealer for repairs so for now we're driving a Nissan Maxima with Utah plates!

Tuesday

I went out for my walk this morning before 9:00.  It was already hot and humid!  I thought I should walk early so I could take a shower after I walked!  Smart thinking because I was drenched when I got home!  We also had to go to Sam's and to Walmart...and to Beall's!  Unfortunately the a/c in the car isn't working.  Neither is the radio or the navigation system, etc.  Dave is taking it to the Cadi dealer tomorrow.  My assessment is that the computer needs re-set because he pulled the battery before we went home last spring.  We'll see what they say.  Regardless, it was hot shopping!

Monday

We are in Florida!!  We got in last night about midnight.  The flight was full but it was a wonderfully smooth flight.  The other person in our row was a man who was a pleasure to sit by.  He teased me that I couldn't sit there because he was a Hawkeye and I had on my Cyclone jacket.  I told him that he was outnumbered because Dave had on his Cyclone cap!  The rest of the flight was fun - both of us getting our "digs" in.  As it turns out, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer at Covenant where I was.  He wanted us to meet his wife, so we met her inside the terminal at the end of the flight.  They were both pharmacists retired now.  He's 72 - she looked a bit younger.  Made the trip go faster!

Today we worked on dusting, putting things away, washing down cupboards and counters, etc.  We made great headway.  It feels like home!  Tonight I played cards with the ladies - fun!!

Saturday

It was drizzly and chilly here most of the day.  Dave went to Bryan's after lunch.  I stayed here and cleaned the refrigerator and the stove/oven.  I also got pretty much packed.  We washed bedding and took the cable box back for the winter.  I got to watch the Cyclone game on TV which thrilled me.  I also got the Holiday Ranch newsletter ready to go.  I'll finish the calendar tomorrow if I don't get it done tonight.

This evening we went to Single Speed Brewing with Bryan, Erin, the kids, Jan & Forest (Erin's folks).  Quite a place.  Good food and of course beer.  Had to say goodbye to the kiddos.  We'll really miss them.

Friday

We had another great day here.  Walked the cemetery.  Then it got really, really windy!  I even wore shorts to walk!

Dave and I cleaned the condo this afternoon.  Now all I have to do is finish packing and clean the refrigerator.  We have very little left in it.  Enough food to get us thru until we leave.  Anything that's left, like mustard, ketchup, jelly, butter, etc. will go to Bryan.

Thursday

It was in the 50's here today with the sun shining brightly.  It was great walking outside.  I also had Tai Chi this morning...my last time.  Every time we have a class, we learn a new form...some of them are really hard!  Makes you really appreciate those videos with a whole bunch of people doing Tai Chi.

Old Mother Hubbard's cupboards are pretty bare here, so we went out for lunch.  We went to Newton's.  I had bacon and eggs and Dave had a tenderloin.  That means we have leftovers!!  Yay!  Dave has enough tenderloin left over for 3 sandwiches.  I had hash browns left over so we'll be eating well tomorrow.

Wednesday

Another chilly day here.  It didn't get above 48!  We still walked outside, but today I even wore a stocking cap, gloves, and socks!!

This morning we had our "coffee" downstairs.  One of ladies who came was a new resident.  She doesn't actually move in until a week from Saturday.  It was good getting to know her..  She's also on our floor, so she'll be a neighbor!  I finished appliqueing a snowman quilt this afternoon.  Now I need to quilt it...but that means changing thread and threading that darn needle again!!  I'll see how that goes!

Tonight I talked to my brother for almost an hour!!

Tuesday

I got up early this morning to go to WW.  I gained .4 of a pound - bummer!  I'm still 1.6 pounds down from where I have to be.  So I'm pretty happy.  It was pretty nice out early.  After lunch when we went for our walk, it was cold!  There was a big wind so there was a wind chill!

This afternoon, I was able to thread my sewing machine - that's a big issue some days!!  I did some machine applique until supper time.  Now I'm watching the debate.  Good questions and good night for several of the candidates.

Monday

Finally, the ladies at the eye place were able to get my glasses adjusted properly!  I actually like them!  I was ready to throw them in the trash and just wear my old ones, but I went out there this morning and after about 30 minutes they had me fixed up.  The lady who finally got them adjusted correctly has 20+ years of experience!!

I walked the cemetery today.  The sun was shining brightly.  It was still a bit chilly, but I was able to walk in my sandals without socks!  I was hot when I got my 2 miles in!

Tonight, Dave had an HOA board meeting and I had a PEO meeting.

Aidan is 5!

My goodness time has really flown!  Aidan is 5 already!  We all got together for dinner tonight, then birthday cake and ice cream, and presents!  At one point during dinner, he announced that it was past his bedtime...since it was so dark out.  Then we reminded him that he had cake and presents.  Boy, did he perk up!

Kaitlyn walked about 8 steps tonight.  When we see her again before we leave for Florida, I'm sure she'll be walking everywhere!

Saturday

Another very cold day here.  It was  30, but felt like 20 when we got up!  Regardless, the sun was shining brightly!  We decided to bundle up and walk outside this morning.  We walked about 1 1/2 miles and decided to quit.  The only place I was cold was my earlobes!  I should have put a scarf on or a stocking cap - oh, that's right, I don't own those things!!  My goal is to be in Florida before it gets  this cold!  Didn't make it this year, though!!

While Dave was at Bryan's this afternoon, I was able to watch the Cyclone game.  We played pretty well.  Well enough to beat West Virginia quite easily.  Fun game to watch!

Friday

Glad we're inside tonight.  The wind chill is 28 degrees outside.  I can hear the wind blowing as I sit here writing this.  We went to the mall to walk today since it was only 40 degrees out with 17 mph wind.  No way we could have walked the hills of the cemetery!  While we were out, we got our hair cut and did a little shopping.  I needed bithday bags for Aidan since his birthday is this weekend.

While I was out yesterday, I took some pix of God's beautiful artwork.  It was raining, so there are sprinkles on my windshield.

Thursday

I went to Tai Chi this morning.  I think I'm finally getting this!  I still feel a bit awkward, but not like I was!  Today was all review with no new forms thrown in, which was good!

After class I picked up my new glasses.  Then after we walked at the mall, I went back to the eye place to get them adjusted a bit.  They still need to be tweaked a bit, but they're better than they were.

Wednesday

This might be the last day we get to walk outside for a while...I sure hope not, but the weather doesn't sound very promising.  Highs in the 40's this weekend, with windy conditions...that means chill factors, folks!  Rain, wind, and falling temps tomorrow.  Then highs in the 50's until we leave for Florida.

Please start praying for Oaklyn again.  She's going to be having another heart surgery, probably in the next couple of weeks.  She went in today for a heart cath, but she's not getting enough oxygen rich blood - her saturation levels are not as good as they appear.  They were hoping to have this surgery when she was about 3 1/2, but have decided that she needs it now.

Tuesday

We didn't have anything we had to do this morning - hallelujah!!  I got a call that my glasses were in, but they weren't right so they were being remade.  Hope they get here soon or they'll have to be shipped to Florida.  We cleaned house today and I worked on finances, reconciling, etc.  It was another nice day so we walked in the cemetery.

This evening, we had a trivia night downstairs.  There were 13 of us who played.  Two different winners tonight - Connie & Jim!  That was fun!

Monday

That was interesting...I just watched Dancing With The Stars.  I agree with whom they sent home.  I think, though, he should have gone week 1 and then Sean Spicer should have gone week 2...and he's still there.  Must be a bunch of Republicans voting!!  He's terrible!

Today was another beautiful fall day.  We even walked outside.  I had Tai Chi and then a lobby committee meeting.  This afternoon I tried to take a nap, but that didn't work.  Maybe tomorrow!

Sunday

Good church service this morning, except it was really, really cold in the sanctuary.  Pastor Amy said that was so we'd all stay awake during her sermon!

After church, we went to HyVee to get a few groceries.  While we were there, we had bacon & eggs for our breakfast/lunch.  It was good!

This afternoon, we walked in the cemetery, but since we haven't walked for a few days we only walked just shy of 1.5 miles.  The wind was blowing so hard that it was like resistance training!  You'd walk forward 1 step and then blow back 1/2 a step!  Not really, but it felt like it!

Saturday

Rain, rain, and more rain!  We are soaked here!  It rained pretty much all day.  Around 6:00 it cleared up and the sun came out.  Tomorrow is supposed to be around 65 and sunny.  I hope so!

Didn't get to watch the Cyclones beat TCU, but followed the scoring on my phone.  I was downstairs working at our Silent Auction from noon to 3:00.  When we got done and put everything away, I went to two different ladies' condos to see what they had done with their places.  Then I came back home to watch the last quarter of our game.  Because of the delayed start time (RAIN!!) they moved our game to ESPNews.  We don't get that channel - grrrr!

Friday

Beautiful fall day here!  We left early this morning for Ottumwa.  My cousin's wife passed away from a brain tumor.  Tonight was her visitation.  Her funeral is tomorrow.  God bless them all.

We went early enough that we could visit with Craig & Sue.  Then we went to the Recovery Room for tenderloins with Shirley & Dave.  Then we went to Bob & Ann's for a couple of hours.  At visitation, saw lots of people we knew - Libertyville people, Indian Hills people, Ottumwa people, and of course, lots of relatives!  Always hate that we see so many people at funerals/visitations, but it is always good to see them.

Got home safely.  Now we're ready for bed!

Thursday

Boy, it was cold today.  Only got to about 51 and we had a big breeze all day, too.  Sure glad the sun was shining!!  I had Tai Chi this morning so I wore shorts to class.  Thought I might freeze!  I'm ready to get to Florida!

This afternoon we ran errands.  One of those errands was to take Dave's phone in to see what was wrong with his voice messaging.  The techs there couldn't fix it, so he is getting a whole new phone!  Our phones are 1 payment short of 2 years old, so that was a pretty good deal.  Especially when they told us our cost was $0!!

This evening we took our camper out to Kyle's for winter storage.  I got to go inside to play with the little girls.  Oaklyn played catch with me.  She's got quite an arm on her..  She'd throw the ball to me and then just smile!  Rowyn kept giving me hugs and so did Blaise.  It was a fun time!

MORE RAIN!  We had a Mediacom tech come out this morning.  For some reason our internet would come and go, come and go..  I'd have to time everything just right to blog!  Also only half of our devices had our internet network on them.  We have everything fixed now - yay!  After he left it wasn't raining so we took a walk in the cemetery - had to wear jackets today.  It was only 58 all day!  As soon as we walked up to the condo when we were finished, it started sprinkling.  Then this afternoon, it poured again.
